Whoa, between the 1200 upgrade, the removal of 90 lbs of metal bracketry, gubbins, and 10 lbs of dirt and grime, you've probaby tripled the power to weight ratio, hahaha! Most excellent :D
Enjoying watching someone else tearing a bike down, love it. I've just finished one but I'm already looking for another. It's addictive! Have fun as we certainly don't do it for the money.
I'm so behind and have a lot of catching up to do with your videos. I can't get my mind to understand why it's so satisfying to watch you tear a bike down. Amazing, Del! Shoutout from South Africa!
She's coming apart nicely for a bike of her age mate - no skinned knuckles or swearing always a good thing aye? Great work all round guys - so looking forward to watching this project evolve - many thanks x
Thanks Mike, 'skinned knuckles and swearing is just ineptitude and impatience, no place for that in a garage in my view, take your time and enjoy the journey, and every setback, stuck bolt or snapped thread is a mini adventure..! Glad you're enjoying the build, take care and thank you for your support. D&Px
Long day at work and what better way to unwind than a new episode of Delboy’s Garage! Lovely video as always, looking healthy and well my friend, keep it up!! Nice tear down, appeared you didn’t come across any issues, rounded nuts etc, absolutely loving this series! Excited to see what you decide to do with it, oh and I’ve got to get myself one of them ratchet screwdriver you’ve been using, Warmest regards to the both of you as always, Luke x
Thanks so much Luke, it's good to hear from you buddy, and we're really glad you're enjoying the project.. ive challenged myself to getting the bike down to a bare frame in 4 days... should be doable and the way it's going so far it's a joy to work on.. Thank you so much again for your support and keep safe. D&Px
Nice video Del & Penny. How fast it all comes a part and how slow it all goes back together, all the fun of a build LOL. Great job mate, looking forward to seeing it all come together. Penny and you have a great and safe week. Cheers
A long while back I asked you about starter bikes and first time bikes, you replied with some good advice and knowledge as usual. I have to tell you, this bike is what I chose! Way to keep me hooked.
I like stripping bikes more than rebuilding them ;-) Trouble is storage und refinding things. Your second oil change looked a lot better. That engine should be a peach. Have a great weekend together, Günter from Nürnberg/Germany (offroad riding with the venerable Transalp 600)
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks, Del. Transalp time was great on the first summer weekend. Tuono time is postponed, since it started raining and we have lots of yellow stuff on the roads - too slippery. Tomorrow will be better. But now I have to watch your weekend video with a cuppa. Cheers, Günter
Brother I envy you- wish I could afford a lift lol. Watching you dismantle this bike reminds my of my own project that I'm doing now. Only difference is your much faster at this than I am. Any how looking forward to the end result. Take care Del and Penny.
Thanks so much Mike, and you're right, a lift will change your life, they're actually a lot cheaper for you guys there with the wonders of Harbor Freight, and although it's an investment, it's one you'd never regret! Thanks for your kind support, it's always good to hear from you... good luck with your strip down, I'm following every one...
Great therapy brother !!! I find the teardown of a bike to be so relaxing 💪👍 maybe im just weird 😂 Keep up the great work ! this project is really awesome 👏 stay safe guys cheers from new york 🥂🥂🥂🍺🍺
Thank you for your kind words, as ever, brother... it is therapeutic to take something apart, specially after two decades on the road... have a great week both, keep safe, D&Px
Wish I could shed weight as quick as the Harley 😉 fascinating to watch the organised way you perform the teardown. I have a feeling we are in for a transformation treat. Great job indeed sir. 🇸🇪🇬🇧😊👋🏻☘️
Thank you Paul, I really want to get involved in this one, I've a loose idea of the style, nothing fixed yet, but above all else it needs to be a fun bike to ride, so a hardtail is out for sure lol Have a great week and thanks for your support as ever.
Thank you sir I enjoy watching your videos so much I have just got my own bike table to start doing little jobs on my bike. So I may be asking a question or two.
Funny, I don’t own a H-D and probably never will but there was something fascinating about watching you rebuild this one. It really is a great project bike! Looking forward to seeing the final results.
Del, you're going to be able to take that bike apart and put it back together in your sleep💤 and do it better than the rest of us could when fully awake. 😁 Another epic video in an epic series. Thank you Del and Penney ! 👍👍

Thanks Shaun, I've challenged myself to 4 days getting it down to a bare frame... it's fiddly at the start and getting all the wiring, plumbing and cabling out the way is a faff, but then it's just 'big chunks' and I reckon I should crack it within the 4!!
Hey Del, I own a HD iron 883 (2012), every light on the cluster works, except for the neutral light (N). But what’s happening is that when I wash my bike, the neutral light (N) comes back on. Can you please explain why this is happening. Would greatly appreciate your time to answer my query, Thank You. 😃
This was a terrific vid, Del. I think you have reached motorcycle Zen! 😎 BTW, do you have the full history on this bike? From the looks of the taillight assembly corrosion, it appears to have been ridden year round? Not sure. In any event, I hope you both are doing well and are feeling stronger every day… take care, Mate. 🏍👍🏍
Indeed it has Gary, the mileage history tells me it's been used all year round for just short trips as the mileage isn't high, but there were no gaps or lay up periods, perhaps that means commuting with invariably means all weathers. And thanks for asking, we're both doing a lot better, getting fitter and stronger every day... have a great week there! D&Px
always interesting to see how a bike you're not familiar with is put together. All those parts! Always seems a bit overwhelming at first. Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you given what the condition of some of those components seems to be. I'll put you down for a new wire wheel hahahaha
Ha ha, thanks buddy.. believe it or not i got a new one this week in readiness, there's a lot of ghastly corrosion that needs dealing with, and the only way to deal with a bike in this state is from the ground up.!
A very interesting film D & P. It makes me nervous though - I'm certain I would have several bolts/clips over if I tried to reassemble the beast! Looking forward to seeing how it looks at the end!
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it, it's a simple bike and not complicated.. once i get it stripped back to a bare frame i can start with the creative rebuild.
I have a question for anyone who would like to reply. I have just purchased a Triumph Speed Master and I'm thinking of taking out the cat and putting on a new exhaust. Will I hurt the engine by doing this or help?
Hi there, no problem.. i removed the fragile Spring loaded damper plate, the item that some people call the 'Grenade plate' as it is prone to break up and cause serious damage to your clutch... i replaced it with two more steel plates and one extra fiber plate.. now is has more grip and will be tough and reliable. ! hope that helps you out.
Should keep you going for a few months video's changing that lot and putting it bk on,been meaning to ask howz the old ticker(heart)these days hope it's working good for you
@@jeffuren6942 Not the engine this time, I'm going to pull the motor out in one piece, but I want the whole bike down to a bare frame and start from scratch, re-furbishing everything from the frame up... new wheels, new exhaust and a full repaint, plus some custom bodywork... and no point in doing all this if I don't know the engine is good (which I do now), and also I don't want to be stripping an engine to make it 1200 with a freshly painted frame... this way the motor will just be painted and put back in the bike whole.
Truly a democracy of hand tools... I think I saw every brand you use. 😎Great video!
