Damn, they seriously upgraded the visuals. I never played the original, only watched some gameplay here and there but I've got to say that this may be the most visually appealing Dark Medieval Fantasy game I've seen, the insane amount of detail, just damn.

I remember just hearing about this little Japanese RPG that doesn’t look great but apparently the few that have tried it say it’s got some really cool ideas and it’s HARD. Now that same game is probably the most anticipated game to lunch with PS5! Selling consoles. Mind blowing.
Peopel I knew Fromsofts earlier titles and it still baffles me that their horrific controls schemes and clunky gameplay actually gave birth to a genre I really live. I mean Bloodbourne and DS3 control very well (almost too well) but DS and DS both are quite slow and clunky making the challenge very interesting and not all about speed
When I picked demons souls I literally was in a GS looking for something to play and had no idea what it was. I looked up on my phone the reviews it had a solid 8 so I said why not. Little did I know this would begin my love for the series and I couldn't believe no one was talking about it. Such a fantastic game only out done by dark souls.
I just downloaded the game last night, and as a veteran of the souls games having NEVER even played the original demons souls that started it all. I have to say this game is beautiful, but the COMBAT, the combat is easily the most weighty and you can really feel the impact of your swings. The backstabs and riposte animations are absolutely brutal and I've only beat the Tower Knight at this point and made it though a bit of Smith town I think it's called, but holy shit I'm so in love and just thankful I have the opportunity to play a somewhat OG souls game that spawned all the other ones we love today.
The combats slow as snails and the healing takes 3 business days, the second you fall on the ground your character decides he can't move or roll even with Light weight

Demon's Souls: TRAPS!!! Darks Souls: Play the entire game thinking eventually some trap is going to get sprung. Nope, MIMICS! Bloodbourne: Play the entire game attacking every chest just in case there was a mimic.
And attacking suspicious looking walls in search for illusory walls. And when you get used to the fact they're not in the game... turns out they exist but only in a specific part of the Chalice Dungeons.

I've played pretty much all of the souls games except for the original Demon's Souls. I gotta say I am loving this game! Love the changes Bluepoint has made. I still die plenty, get frustrated, but more importantly still get the thrill when overcoming something particularly challenging. Am having a great time with this game so far!

Be sure to play it using the 60fps performance mode (the default mode) like the devs suggested in their latest interview with Digital Foundry. There are no noticeable graphical differences between the two modes whatsoever, and the 60fps just feels so good and according to the devs the 60fps mode has been their main focus during the development. All the streamers I've watched have also agreed that it's the best way to play the game.

I like this - an actual review of a game from Gameranx. I like this channel quite a bit but you guys hardly ever thoroughly review games, you mostly just give a really fast summary of the game. Keep doing this these actual full reviews are great and something some of us really turn to if we're thinking of putting our money towards a game.
This is my first souls like game, I’ve never played any of the dark souls or anything, I am very glad this is my first step into this genre, what an amazing remake this is!
Tbh I think Bluepoint *does* use the combat data from the original, *but* has altered most animations to actually fit those timing better. That's why it feels much more snappy. A great touch if you'd ask me!
Playing it right now - an absolute masterpiece and must have in your ludothèque. Even after completing bloodborne, DS3 and the likes. How amazing it is to see the FromSoftware formula was already all in there from the beginning, genius!
The game feels easier because it’s at 60fps, it makes your reactions and sword swings more responsive and smooth so that clunkiness you feel is still kinda there in the 30fps mode
@@ZombieDude0001 they sped up personal attack animations to look even smoother but barely touched most AI making the game easier. Its the only flaw in my eyes and its a minor one to me at least.
@@Flourikum i mean, its kinda like they put the main character of DS3 into a DS1 area, while maintaining the speed of DS3. You can imagine that would make things much easier. Not a world ending problem, just questionable.

The guide did give some tips that where helpful at the beginning and my brother had caught up in a week, where it took me 3 months to get to and he even passed me, that little shit
yeap, that's me... LMAO... I don't hate the idea of it. I think the world tendency was an interesting concept but it was also a pain in the ass. It'll also be a major pain in the ass for anyone new to the series.
I thought the World Tendency system was online based, but still found some kind of equilibrium between worlds; as one world gets harder, another gets easier.
i Looove armored core. it was the first game i played, beat, and was able to bring my character over to the next game, and the again to the next generation console.
When this first released it absolutely destroyed me...put me into demolish controller mode more than once. Now after revisiting it after playing every souls and souls like game there is its so insanely easy. BUT, I'm loving every second of it. This remake is absolutely stunning!
Every Souls Game is a Souls-like, because Souls-like is the very genre they generated. I think you confused the term with Souls-borne games which is only used for Souls-likes specifically made by FromSoftware (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring).
He was using "souls-like" as a description for the genre, not just this specific game. Yes this is a souls game, but it is also a part of the "souls-like" genre when you are talking about games like these.

Got my PS5 last month and I've been playing this game since then. Done with my 7th playthrough and I still want to go. Souls games are difficult and frustring but I am addicted to it. I haven't even opened the other 3 games I bought.
I can't imagine how huge the size of games will be in the long future, I'm very lucky to live in this time to witness this games , incredible technology we have

The most fun combat system I ever played was in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Combine that with the dark aesthetics of Demon's Souls, and it'd be a 10/10.
I have my copy of Demon's Souls in hand. My PS5 will be here on Tuesday and I can say that this game is indeed a system seller. If it wasn't for Demon's Souls being announced as a launch title I would have held off on buying the PS5.
Recently started. First Souls-like game for me. Difficult and enjoyable! The forced repetitiveness results in gradually improving and flowing. A special experience!
This game is really awesome! The graphics, art work and overall mood are gorgeous and gameplay is super fun. The difficulty is well balanced between enemies and bosses. It's a hard game, just like the other Souls games. But it's more strategic and less mechanical. Bosses are puzzles rather than fights where you have to study every move of your enemy

I am a Souls veteran. Started with Demon Souls, and i was hooked. Also a big Bloodborne and Sekiro fan It looks fantastic, but like you said, i think it will be easy for the veterans. I know this game inside out. When i ever get a ps5 i will def play it.
Speaking as someone who lacks gaming SKILZ I bought this game and quickly developed stomach ulcers. Nausea, dizziness, sweating, WHAT FUN!! I now pay attention when a game gets the "hard" label.
Played the original, became a rabid fan, obsessed over it for months and was proud to finish it. Is easily the very hardest game I’ve ever played. Makes all subsequent souls titles feel easy by comparison. Will def play it again on PS5 but I’m not in a hurry. I still have hundreds of ps4 titles to catch up on first.

If you're scared that Demons Souls is very intimidating, I get stuck in Dark Sould 1 and didn't beat it yet, but Demon Souls is actually manageable! The levels are tough and long and don't have checkpoints, but the bosses are very rewarding and if you get stuck they all have a "cheese" strategy, so I wouldn't worry. If you're a casual like me and have PS Plus you can also savescum before bosses to skip redoing the entire level/stage. As someone who hasn't beaten Dark Souls out of fear and frustration, Demons Souls is perfectly challenging! Don't be scared of this one if you think you might like it. It's not a cakewalk, but it's doable for noobs! Also remember you can just run past enemies.
Demons Souls was my favorite game from the PS3. It was my most hyped reveal when they did it, even more than HFW, which honestly HZD is my favorite game ever. When I grab a PS5 likely next holiday season, this will be a day one buy for me. I tried to pre order it for the goodies. But the deluxe was digital only and I want the physical. To go with my original. I'm sad though, I've heard the Thomas Dupe Glitch doesn't work anymore and honestly that's a huge bummer. Being able to dupe stuff for Alt Toons really increased the longevity of the game. Without it, I'll likely only make a few toons and move on. Versus the 50+ toons I probably created originally.

Only got into Soulsborne games this year with Sekiro starting my journey into fromsoftware. Have since done Bloodborne and now about to finish off Dark Souls remastered, will then move onto 2 & 3 and have that nice platinum trophy collection. Although I don't plan to get the PS5 till next summer this is the very first and only game I'll be getting upon purchase till I've completed that also.
i did play original and i'm actually agree when you become Pre render story addict at the time. i know there are lore and deep story with in item but back in the day compare to FF series like FFX even FFXii or Ninokuni, White Knight story,MGS4 or FFXiii which story kind of suck.... i'm expect more cut scene and i didnt get it even finish the game i still dont get it and feel "story kind of thin"..... but i like the game and like it more than FFXiii at the time. make me feel great that i get PS3 i remember when fought the king in stage 1 and most fun boss fight that i never get before and become boss at stage 3 which make people have a bad day or experience 5 difference field of setting... in it self this game make gameplay experience become something and complex system make it even better and for get platinum with many run cause you miss cystal lizard... well good old day.
Love your channel! Been watching for sometime now, and after hearing Falcon speak so highly of the Souls games, I gave souls games I hated a second try. Loving DS! Thanks for the great work!
I'll attempt to explain the "feels more responsive" feeling. We just did a PS4 monster hunter to PS5 comparison side-by-side and found that monster hunter on the PS5 just listened to you right when you pressed buttons, whereas the PS4 one took a frame or two. That's where the line is drawn, I think. Both Demon's souls PS3 and MHW PS4 are 30 fps, and both of those for the PS5(for us) are 60-120 fps. As a programmer it feels like everything is coded to activate skills "when pressed" and not "when released", there's definitely a half second difference. The animations are also more fluid, and easier to track with your eyes. Going from "WOAH how'd he get there!?" to "Come back here you little--", you keep better track. The reason I mention these two games in particular is that the milliseconds BEFORE a monster attacks in either game is way more crucial than the attack animation itself. In fact, your invulnerability window often coincides with how well you notice what they do before each attack, the wind-up. You notice that wind-up as clear as day on the PS5, where as on the PS4/3 it skips a couple frames and sometimes is much harder to spot. This is just the first time console players are able to actual see what the hell PC players are talking about when comparing frame rate response. I hope that all helps? For some I know they said PS5 doesn't do 60 fps, but ours does for every game, just some parts of a game it might drop to 30-40 depending on poly congestion in an area that also renders shadows and lighting at high quality(usually around the character to about 30 feet depending on the game). Ok bye.
Hooked up my ps5 and downloaded the game. 8bhours later im halfway through my second playthrough. Funny hou 10 years later i still remember every enemy spawn/weakness....

I like this - an actual review of a game from Gameranx. I like this channel quite a bit but you guys hardly ever thoroughly review games, you mostly just give a really fast summary of the game. Keep doing this these actual full reviews are great and something some of us really turn to if we're thinking of putting our money towards a game.
This is my first souls like game, I’ve never played any of the dark souls or anything, I am very glad this is my first step into this genre, what an amazing remake this is!
Tbh I think Bluepoint *does* use the combat data from the original, *but* has altered most animations to actually fit those timing better. That's why it feels much more snappy. A great touch if you'd ask me!

Playing it right now - an absolute masterpiece and must have in your ludothèque. Even after completing bloodborne, DS3 and the likes. How amazing it is to see the FromSoftware formula was already all in there from the beginning, genius!
The game feels easier because it’s at 60fps, it makes your reactions and sword swings more responsive and smooth so that clunkiness you feel is still kinda there in the 30fps mode

When this first released it absolutely destroyed me...put me into demolish controller mode more than once. Now after revisiting it after playing every souls and souls like game there is its so insanely easy. BUT, I'm loving every second of it. This remake is absolutely stunning!

Every Souls Game is a Souls-like, because Souls-like is the very genre they generated. I think you confused the term with Souls-borne games which is only used for Souls-likes specifically made by FromSoftware (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring).

Got my PS5 last month and I've been playing this game since then. Done with my 7th playthrough and I still want to go. Souls games are difficult and frustring but I am addicted to it. I haven't even opened the other 3 games I bought.

The most fun combat system I ever played was in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Combine that with the dark aesthetics of Demon's Souls, and it'd be a 10/10.

Recently started. First Souls-like game for me. Difficult and enjoyable! The forced repetitiveness results in gradually improving and flowing. A special experience!

This game is really awesome! The graphics, art work and overall mood are gorgeous and gameplay is super fun. The difficulty is well balanced between enemies and bosses. It's a hard game, just like the other Souls games. But it's more strategic and less mechanical. Bosses are puzzles rather than fights where you have to study every move of your enemy

I am a Souls veteran. Started with Demon Souls, and i was hooked. Also a big Bloodborne and Sekiro fan It looks fantastic, but like you said, i think it will be easy for the veterans. I know this game inside out.

Played the original, became a rabid fan, obsessed over it for months and was proud to finish it. Is easily the very hardest game I’ve ever played. Makes all subsequent souls titles feel easy by comparison. Will def play it again on PS5 but I’m not in a hurry. I still have hundreds of ps4 titles to catch up on first.

If you're scared that Demons Souls is very intimidating, I get stuck in Dark Sould 1 and didn't beat it yet, but Demon Souls is actually manageable! The levels are tough and long and don't have checkpoints, but the bosses are very rewarding and if you get stuck they all have a "cheese" strategy, so I wouldn't worry. If you're a casual like me and have PS Plus you can also savescum before bosses to skip redoing the entire level/stage.
As someone who hasn't beaten Dark Souls out of fear and frustration, Demons Souls is perfectly challenging! Don't be scared of this one if you think you might like it. It's not a cakewalk, but it's doable for noobs! Also remember you can just run past enemies.
This was very helpful now that DS is on Black Friday sale!

Demons Souls was my favorite game from the PS3. It was my most hyped reveal when they did it, even more than HFW, which honestly HZD is my favorite game ever. When I grab a PS5 likely next holiday season, this will be a day one buy for me. I tried to pre order it for the goodies. But the deluxe was digital only and I want the physical. To go with my original.
I'm sad though, I've heard the Thomas Dupe Glitch doesn't work anymore and honestly that's a huge bummer. Being able to dupe stuff for Alt Toons really increased the longevity of the game. Without it, I'll likely only make a few toons and move on. Versus the 50+ toons I probably created originally.

Only got into Soulsborne games this year with Sekiro starting my journey into fromsoftware. Have since done Bloodborne and now about to finish off Dark Souls remastered, will then move onto 2 & 3 and have that nice platinum trophy collection.
Although I don't plan to get the PS5 till next summer this is the very first and only game I'll be getting upon purchase till I've completed that also.
I'm happy that they managed to make a good remake, I played DS back in the days and I think is still one of the best game I ever played ;)
IF I get a ps5 (that's a joke about ps5 inventory), those fluent/different weapon animations and updated graphics will take some getting used to. lol

i did play original and i'm actually agree when you become Pre render story addict at the time. i know there are lore and deep story with in item but back in the day compare to FF series like FFX even FFXii or Ninokuni, White Knight story,MGS4 or FFXiii which story kind of suck.... i'm expect more cut scene and i didnt get it even finish the game i still dont get it and feel "story kind of thin"..... but i like the game and like it more than FFXiii at the time. make me feel great that i get PS3

I'll attempt to explain the "feels more responsive" feeling. We just did a PS4 monster hunter to PS5 comparison side-by-side and found that monster hunter on the PS5 just listened to you right when you pressed buttons, whereas the PS4 one took a frame or two. That's where the line is drawn, I think. Both Demon's souls PS3 and MHW PS4 are 30 fps, and both of those for the PS5(for us) are 60-120 fps. As a programmer it feels like everything is coded to activate skills "when pressed" and not "when released", there's definitely a half second difference. The animations are also more fluid, and easier to track with your eyes. Going from "WOAH how'd he get there!?" to "Come back here you little--", you keep better track. The reason I mention these two games in particular is that the milliseconds BEFORE a monster attacks in either game is way more crucial than the attack animation itself. In fact, your invulnerability window often coincides with how well you notice what they do before each attack, the wind-up. You notice that wind-up as clear as day on the PS5, where as on the PS4/3 it skips a couple frames and sometimes is much harder to spot. This is just the first time console players are able to actual see what the hell PC players are talking about when comparing frame rate response. I hope that all helps? For some I know they said PS5 doesn't do 60 fps, but ours does for every game, just some parts of a game it might drop to 30-40 depending on poly congestion in an area that also renders shadows and lighting at high quality(usually around the character to about 30 feet depending on the game). Ok bye.
