Hello you two, as always very informative. I have only just started dealing with the landscape in my garden last month after finding your videos, thank you SO much. I didn't know where to even begin, but you have really given me SO MUCH inspiration I have felt able to start clearing land and have planted containers on my decking. The auger was fabulous to see (will have to check the price) and also the RE hose would be great if I can install it on my own (?). Again THANK YOU, I have been so overwhelmed for such a long time, but I feel blessed to have found you (and though I say so myself, I'm so proud of what I've accomplished in just a month), but it's all thanks to both of you. Hi Laura, when you held up the cloche with the extension attached it looks like a bell and I thought, hmmm 🤔 that might make an interesting outdoor Christmas ornament that someone with your creativity could dress up and turn it into something really beautiful. Maybe add some lights and/or greenery and ribbon? Just a thought.
Oh no! Now Laura is making gopher mounds out on the new property! Lol! Those Verona Obelisks were so easy to set up, and they are the perfect sizes to use in planters. ~Margie

That cloche, with or without the extender, would make an awesome DIY for light fixtures for a farmhouse or more industrial style. Love them!!!
Why wouldn't you just sink a 4x4 in the ground up against the wall for a mount?
Thats what I was thinking! My hubby created a wall mount for my new retractable hose in my front yard after I loved the one in my back yard so much!
Yes! Isn't this just like a DIY where you're all excited to do it only to find it ain't that easy! Always something! I agree on just building the 4x4 wall, but maybe there is something below that they can't put it in the ground.

Hey Laura, my OH has just informed me while I was watching your video, that when you tighten the chuck on your auger, go as tight as you can, then click it back one click as though you were going to loosen it and it locks the chuck in position. Just thought it was a handy tip 🙂

I finally found the name of a shrub that I think would be perfect for your moon garden. It is a Gold Thread Spiraea thunbergii 'Ogon' I have 2 of them in my mama's memorial garden and could not be more pleased with their beauty and graceful growth. I saw your spiraea video this morning but this form is different...it still has only white flowers on the long flowing stems that then give way to chartreuse leaves that don't fade or change until they fall for winter. It matures to 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. I feel mine got bigger...closer to 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide as specimen plants in 3 years. It is cold hardy to zone 4. I am in zone 7 in Richmond, VA. BTW...loved meeting you last year at the Phila. Flower Show ☺, Never miss watching your wonderful videos.
Thank you! I bought an auger that was long enough to drill dirt out from under a sidewalk so I could run drip to the north side of our house. I followed one of your videos how to do it. Worked great! Then I used that auger to drill holes for 50 Zinnias. Worked great for that too and saved hands, back and knees. Learning to work smarter!❤️. Keep the tips, tricks and info coming!

The cloche turned upside down with moss (example) for an inner lining could be used as a planter with an awesome shape. Just thinking...Blessings,
Thank you, Laura and Aaron! This kind of product review video is so helpful to me, a beginner outside gardener. A while ago you recommended the Fiskars 30 gallon hard shell bottom Kangaroo Garden Bag. I have trouble lifting stuff and have very weak hands. First concerned about not able to connect the toggles for storage of the pop up bag, but it is easy! Also, nice to drag around the yard because of the hard shell bottom. This was super helpful to move my pruning waste of 12, 4 ft. tall grasses to make way for new growth. Want to try the chicken wire cloches! Please, please keep making the product review videos so we buy the right products instead of wasting our money on inferior products. 👏🏻👍🤗

Where there's a will, there's a way to make the hose reel work in your folk's greenhouse. Lots of tips using 4x4 posts in the comments. The Twist'n Plant was impressive and I agree the Obelisk, however you pronounce it ;) would make a classy art statement in the garden.
You can beef up the 2x4 frames with more 2x4's and for added support add a piece of 5/8th plywood to attach the hose mechanism to
10:07 that could be a super adorable centerpiece during Christmas!! Fill it with greenery and or lights and put on top of one of your pedestals (sort of like a Christmas bell topiary!)
It even looks like a Yuletide bell.
Wow, that vase is amazing. Not my esthetic either but the fact that you can change the water and cut stems is excellent. You would fill the water source and then cut the stems holding them under the faucet. Plenty of time before the ends seal.

Wow! Impressive garden tools. Your new Obelisks would look great in your gardens, with all of the Sweet Peas you have seeded. I think they would look great in the bed behind your chicken run, with the 2 largest ones at the ends of a lineup, with the 2 short ones between them, spaced out 2 - 3 feet equally. Hopefully that would give you some shade on your chicken pen, during the hot months. Also might consider putting them (with a tall one and short one) on each side of the window, in the bed where you removed the dead Elm Tree, newly lined with bricks. But then you would need to find a new home for the trellis currently leaning against the wall, to the left of the window. But know you will find the best plants and locations for them. Great fun on where to best utilize them.

I will have to order that auger. Az soil is so hard. I bet if you took the top piece of the clotch (msp), and slip it up from the bottom of the larger piece. It will hook together easier.

You can put down 3 layers of cardboard, then your cut grass from your yard then mulch heavy. You will have a nice area to plant next year
without digging or tilling your soil! If you add cow manure or horse that speed things up

Could you review/recommend a water wand that doesn’t leak and that would last more than one season, I can’t seem to find one.
Laura uses one by Dramm and they are a bit pricey. Last year I was so tired of buying replacements and having them leak all over and drip down my arm that I caved and bought one. It works really well, no leaking, and is still going strong!
Dramm is a dream. About $35 but awesome.
Just a suggestion, on your augers or anything that will spin in your drill, take them and file down flat spot with a bench grinder or file... i had the same problem and filed down a small flat section on a drill bit on the bench grinder, just enough for the chuck to grab n not let it spin, now everything has a flat spot on it

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this in the comments... just sink a 4x4 post leaving about 4' out of the ground & attach the hose reel. I've watched other videos & that's what they do. You can then install near any water source

My Proven Winners auger was delivered last week and I purchased the Dewalt drill you use but I noticed you didn't have your side handle on. I purposely bought the Dewalt drill with the side handle because yours had one in a previous video. Does the side handle help with angering or is it not really necessary? I will make sure I tighten the chuck 😆. I can't wait to try the Espoma Land & Sea compost, I hope my garden center has it.
Unrelated question Laura:
I just saw that my raised tier that I built for Strawberries has been over taken by ants. Other than Diatomaceous Earth (and maybe Terro granules - because even this is not natural) is there anything you could recommend to eradicate these little pest? If this pest situation goes down as deep as I suspect I don't want to have to try to dig down 3ft (especially up underneath the Strawberries). I especially don't want to spray a bunch of chemicals around my produce (or into the soil in which they will be feeding on) as I also use the top tier for lettuce or tomatoes, etc., but I don't need my box planter to be a giant ant hill either!😠🐜🍓🍅
Try Terro Outdoor Liquid Ant Bait stations. Active ingredient is Borax

@@originalchoochoo I know of it as it is what we use all of the time for ants, snails & slugs. It's just this raised bed is 3ft deep & I am disabled so do really want to try & dig that far down as I have a feeling they have turnes that whole bed into a giant ant hill!😱

You are making me want to be a gardener. I live on a small piece of land that is not fertilized or ever been taken care of. I constantly think of what to do to make at least the front look great as we have gophers in front and the grass actually is more weeds then grass and I can’t find any way to remove gophers, put in new sod and I absolutely love Japanese maple trees and roses. Can a Japanese tree go in the center of my front yard?
I really could of used that custom auger 2 weeks ago): It was torture digging all those holes by hand , and took so much time/: I’ll certainly be using those obelisks; they’re perfect.

I ordered the willow cloche from Gardener’s Supply, but it is out of stock until tomorrow. I had to flip a coin between the chicken wire that you have and the rattan one because I couldn’t make up my mind. I need it to cover my good-sized strawberry. Either a chipmunk or squirrel has been digging at its base. It loved the spot in the garden last year, and I don’t want to lose it.

Sadly its says that one ingredient is peat which is one of the most enviromentally hostile things to use! Because peat fields take centuries to grow even a few inches and they are natural carbon sinks. But when they are dug out and the peat decomposes, all of the stored carbon, that was stored over millenia, is released again!
Might be organic but not a bit sustainable!

I really like Espoma (when I can find it). A lot of the nurseries near me don't have the land and sea compost. I was able to get the cow manure (but really wanted the compost) I wish they had a way to order the soil online. Anyhoo, love your videos!
Sometimes I would go to google translate to check if something Laura said was the correct pronunciation compared to how I would say it. However it turned out, Laura, you're an awesome gardener and individual no matter what pronunciation you use!

I'm starting to do raised bed gardening got inspired with your videos. I've been looking for espoma soil for so long. I did the lookup on there website and went to each garden center but they only sell the fertilizers. Do you have any website you can recommend where I can order the soil? Or do your garden center sell it online?
Did you ask the manager to order it? If they carry Espoma products, they should be able to order it for you.

I have been gardening for 50 years and I'd never heard about getting disease (and even dying) from using potting soil without gloves. Is it really a concern? I notice you don't use gloves with the Espoma but would you use it with other mixes?
Wish I lived closer to you I could really use the hose reel😁 (i would be saying 🙋🏼♀️ Me Me) I have arthritis (70yrs old) and it is really hard for me to use my hose when I need to. I have been looking at this type of hose reel. I am anxious to see how it works out!👍🏻
