I had the transfer gel, so this video was great for me to see this. I would have taken it off right away because I have no experience with it yet, so I’m so glad I watched this and will keep it to refer back later. Thanks so much! Beautiful cards!
They are both from The Crafters Workshop. The intricate stencil is called Spanish Tile and the other is Magnolia Blossoms. I think they are both from 2018, so I’m not sure if you could find those exact stencils. But check Scrapbook.com for them! And they may have something similar if you can’t find those exact stencils!
I just got that same laminator, some foils, and some fabulous stencils, but haven’t had a chance to play with them yet. With that leftover piece from the second card, will it stick to cardstock running though the laminator but without the gel medium? I’m just wondering how I would use that leftover piece.
Love this video. Can both products be used the same way such as laminate or without both paste enter exchangeable can use both foils. I use Gina K a deco foils. Thank
Gina K foils and Deco Foils can be used with both products! The tacky when dry gel doesn’t need any heat and would probably melt if you put it through a hot laminator, but you could turn the heat off your laminator and run it through if you have that option! Or any kind of pressure will transfer the foil. The hot foil gel will ONLY work with a heat source, like a laminator. You have to have that heat to activate. I hope that makes sense and helps!
No, modeling paste is just a paste to our through your stencils. It doesn’t have a sticky surface and it can’t be foiled. But you can get a lot of colirs or add ink to create custom colors! It’s more to add dimension and texture.
Very good I am trying mixed art journal and trying to incorporate everything thing I have. I watch all of your videos and respect and use your ideals. I have to write and use book to remember how to correctly use the different paste. I appreciate your prompt response. Thanks
Thank you for the great tutorial, however, I still have questions. I am trying to use a stencil on a spray painted wooden box to get a gold leaf affect. I already tried using an acrylic gold foil type paint with the stencil and YUCK, it did not turn out good, so I thought I would try a gold leaf medium. It seems like the tacky when dry technique could work, but I think I want it to be shinier like with the other foil and other transfer medium...so..my question is, can't I just use a dry iron on a cotton setting , or a little crafting iron to heat press it onto the wood??? Thank you in advance for your help :-)
I have had this same question myself, but my thinking was with canvas. As long as you are SUPER careful and don’t apply too much heat, it should work. I would start out with a lower temp and continue to check. You can always add more heat of need be. Also, remember to put something over the top while ironing, like parchment paper for slip!
Georgeous!!! Thanks for sharing! May I suggest you try double sided tape with Coutour Creations Foil in every color imaginable and you can press it with a bone folder or even use a stencil or a embossing folder and use a Sissix Big shot or a Spell Binders machine and run your folder or stencil through and get really beautiful results. I would think any good double sided tape will work as long as it is sticky enough. I saw it on Stacey's Scrapbooking Made Simple/SMS. She used Her "Simply Defined" double sided tape that is available in many sizes through SMS. But, your way has georgeous results too! I'm New to Card Making and I honestly haven't tried it yet but I will be very soon! If you're interested I can probably find what number video it is, so you can see Her technique. Let Me know.
I would love to see her technique! I have used my double sided adhesive and the Deco Foil for foiling before. It gives gorgeous results, too! The only difference in results I've seen between the double sided adhesive and the hot foil gel if the gel has a bit more shine because you don't have to rub over it with a bone folder. I hope that makes sense!
@@CraftingWhileCaffeinated I'm sorry I'm not a technical person and I tried to copy the link for you but I don't know where to find it on My phone! 🙄 It's under "Scrapbooking Made Simple" also known as SMS. Stacey is the Owner of the company. It's a small shop but has fantastic prices. She numbers Her videos. It's #308 She doesn't get to the main part for a bit but She has a great way of teaching for the not so experienced, which is why I love watching Her. She does also use Essentials Glue Pad and the double sided tape. The glue pad makes a more rustic look and the double sided tape works great. You definitely want to watch it to the end as She show's how to use an embossing folder and even stencil. I have learned so much from watching Her Video's. If you choose to buy from Them, you must be patient because it's a small shop, it takes a good 30 days before you get your order. But, the price's are very competitive. If you catch a live video, She has sales on most everything used and calls it UTube Yummies Sale. I hope you find it helpful and enjoy Her Video's. Thanks again for your video and posting everything below because I didn't catch the "Brand" of the "Tacky Gel". I'll be subscribing to your channel. Thanks again!
BevG181 thank you so much! I do love her channel, she is definitely one talented lady!! I also love that she numbers her videos!! That’s an awesome idea on her part and so easy to find the specific video!!! Thank you so much!! ❤️
The Tacky when Dry medium would be great on acrylic painted canvas. It works just like any other medium, it just dries to a tacky finish. I hope that helps!
Both are beautiful but I wish you had used the same foil for both so it would be easier to compare the difference in the texture and results of the 2 mediums. If I understand you correctly, the only reason the tacky when dry card isn't as shiny is because of the foil used. So then the only real difference is the texture, right?
I will see what I can do about posting a comparison with the same foil used. The tacky medium won't be quite as shiny because you do need to do some burnishing (rub the foil) which does take a little of the shine away, but it would be shinier than the Prima foil I used! But I agree I probably should've used the same foil, just wanted to show a few options!
I use two different gels in the video. Hot Foil Gel - amzn.to/2SdTRm0 & Tacky-When-Dry Gel Medium - amzn.to/37enV5i I don't have an exact amount that I use, and it's going to depend on your project size and size of stencil. Use whatever amount you need to cover the stencil area and make it as smooth as possible. I hope that helps!
Pretty pretty pretty. I LOVE that spanish tile die. I just so do NOT want to buy a laminator- nowhere to put it, another machine. I love shinies and sparkles but having something that is kinda a 1 trick pony? My scots/yankee cheapness just can't do it. Rubon foil makes more sense. Deco foil works too? Fantastic
Yes! Deco foil will work, too. It just won’t be as smooth of a result as with the laminator. It will give a more “distressed” look, but it’s still beautiful!! I understand not wanting another machine and not having the space! Luckily for me, I “needed” a laminator for my kids school projects and preserving their artwork 😆
Walmart has thermal laminators for about $18. Also, there are several ways to use the foil sheets w/o a laminator. Look at "It's me, JD" video on this.
I don’t think so. The hot foil gel is specifically designed to adhere to the foil when put through the laminator and the tacky when dry is super tacky when it dries down which holds onto the foil. Regular gel medium doesn’t have the right properties to be used with foils either way. I hope I understood your question and helped!! ❤️
Tip that I "discovered" accidently.... Put the transfer gel through the stencil, let dry....and then leave it "as is" (i.e., don't use foil). The shiny pattern that the gel makes would make a nice background paper.
Why do Americans add "go ahead" in between sentences or instructions? I don't understand why it's said at all, let alone so frequently in such a short space of time. Pls explain. Lovely cards btw.
It’s the way I talk 🤷🏻♀️. And adding “lovely cards btw” after a rude comment does not make it any less offensive. Please understand when you leave a comment on a video there are real human beings behind those videos. I’m more than happy to have constructive criticism/feedback. However, disguising rudeness in a question isn’t ok.
It's called a demonstration, shes teaching. Most people not just "Americans " talk this way. It let's the people following along keep moving. It's like a cue. Do you understand? It's ok if not, just understand she is sharing with us and its polite to say thank you, give a thumbs up and if you do not like something, just move on and find something that suits your understanding level. Have a great day.
THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
Both cards look amazing!
If you use a longer pallette knife to apply the paste, you will have a smoother surface.
Super technique, super effect.
Thanks for the tip!

Beautiful cards, thanks for sharing your knowledge on this
WOW!!!! these cards are stunning!

Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.
Just out of curiosity where did you buy that stencil the very intricate one as well as the magnolia flowers? They came out beautiful!

Foiling to me makes cards so perfect. It’s like happiness in a sheet! LOL. Beautiful cards.
It truly is happiness in a sheet!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!! I really appreciate it!!!

Wow!! great idea, turned out so well Thanks
Just beautiful!!!

Absolutely gorgeous!💜🤗
I really want to try that "tacky when dry" gel medium. I have used thermo web transfer gel but I like the idea of "tacky when dry". TFS!
Check back on the 24th!! I’ll have a new video up with more ways and ideas on using the Tacky When Dry medium!!!

Thank you!!!
Just Brilliant thank you for sharing.
Lovely foil cards! I need to do more laminating foil! I just subscribed and hit the bell! Great tutorials!
Awesome, for the dry one can I use it on. Acrylic painted canvas ?
The Tacky when Dry medium would be great on acrylic painted canvas. It works just like any other medium, it just dries to a tacky finish. I hope that helps!
Crafting While Caffeinated with Lindsay Adreon great thank you so much for quick reply I’ll order it now 😍💐
On the first card (lotus flower) did you need to destatic the card stock first? Thank you for sharing your video?
You can, it's especially helpful if you're using something like glitter with the Tacky Gel. But for foil you don't need to.
amazing

(watching in 2019) TFS....didn't know about the rub on foil...have just used Deco Foil.
Rub on Foil is a bit harder to find, but Deco foil will work for both techniques!!
What kind of gel is that can you plz tell me the name and the quantity to use
I use two different gels in the video. Hot Foil Gel - amzn.to/2SdTRm0 & Tacky-When-Dry Gel Medium - amzn.to/37enV5i
I don't have an exact amount that I use, and it's going to depend on your project size and size of stencil. Use whatever amount you need to cover the stencil area and make it as smooth as possible. I hope that helps!
How do you do the words/lettering on the thanks card? Is it stamps
Yes! I use stamps, but you can just as easily print sentiments off from your computer and cut them into banners to add!
Wow so cut
Pretty pretty pretty. I LOVE that spanish tile die.

Would regular gel medium work as well as dry gel medium with foil? Or, does dry gel medium have some property that’s better for foil.

Love that idea! I use Gloss Gel Medium for that, but if you only want to buy one medium, that is an awesome idea and money saver!!
What brand is the Spanish tile stencil
Both stencils are from The Crafters Workshop. You should be able to find them at scrapbook.com
