Hi Sir Andrew, I'm glad to see you trying out Walksnail, and that it's working well for you! I haven't personally flown any of the DJI FPV stuff, but Walksnail has been great for me and offers everything I wanted from an HD system.

Wake up in the morning, watch an Andrew Newton video, bust out the credit card and blow $520 bucks. Just like that! 😆 Avatar goggles + GT Camera/TX kit + GM3 Gimbal! What I just spend with CADDX would cost over $1000 if it was DJI gear. This kit looks awesome. And big thanks for making such quality review videos, they are world class. Cheers!

Unfortunately, the GT VTX doesn't have the serial port that the GM3 plugs into for head tracking. Caddx says that you need to solder the TX/RX wires from the gimbal to the UART3 pads on the VTX (not the big and easily accessible UART2 pads). It appears you would have to drill a hole in the case for the wires as well. The pads are quite small and I don't trust my soldering skills enough with such an expensive piece of kit. So I'm exchanging mine for a Moonlight.

@@mcastells Thanks for bringing that up, I assumed the GT was ready to work with a GM3.... This is annoying, they don't make this clear on their website... It is a confusing. I should have gone for the Moonlight it appears, and you get 4K recording.... I think I will do the swap too.

I agree with you on your stance of DJI... I decided to go with Walksnail and HDZero instead for those same reasons.
Would have been great if it had an HDMI and AV input. Great idea by Caddx to offer Prescription Lenses ad on for the Goggles.

I have had the DJI V1 with WTF OSD for many years. Revolutionary but incredibly uncomfortable on my face. Basically like strapping a house brick to my face. I like flying small stuff and DJI never released a 1S air unit so I bit the bullet about 6 months ago and bought the goggles X and a few tiny VTX mini's that can be powered off 1-3S. Very happy. Extremely comfortable goggles with a great picture. DJI V1 on my bigger older stuff. Walksnail on my tiny stuff.

This is Brilliant, I purchased the v3 DJI goggles and 2 fpv units and promptly returned everything because of the proprietary nature of all the equipment including the necessity to use thier redicoulous motion sensor controller. Nope they can keep it. I've been waiting for this kit to come out because I heard rumors of a sticky lawsuit. Glad to se it on the market.

YES the DJI Lite VTX units involve the most difficult soldering I have encountered.

More than 4km.... no that's DJI. Caddx don't actually give range into.

How much range "theoretically" do you "think" you might get out of that setup? Got my Goggles L in the post and looking at the same VTX. Its a pitty they dont allow for external antenna...

@@AlphaCharlyX Oh yes, they are aluminium camera mounts that came with old analog cameras. Seems like they are not provided these days, I'm reusing old ones.

Hi from Scotland Andrew, this is my first FPV set up. I see you have 2 connectors from the 4 pin silicon cable that I can see, could show me a photo of how you have them both connected the red and black battery connector and what I can’t figure out is the rx and tx connection please.

@@PhilnotTony Hard to go past the SpeedyBee F405-Wing. But you don't need an FCB to use the Walsnail gear. Just power, and don't fly too far away.
@@AndrewNewton Ok and thank you for the reply. I have a GT kit for My Tundra to practice with before moving it to a Durafly EFXtra and a Moonlight kit with the GM3 for my ASW 28 also a little 1s kit for a tiny warbird. Slightly terrifying but can’t wait to get to grips with it all.

Thanks for your review. I think I will add these to my Walksnail fleet for the sandy and water environment, not risking damaging my more expensive V1 goggles.
One Question remains, any indication about the FOV? FOV number is strangely not mentioned on the Walksnail product page.
Yes you're right about FOV number, but it is almost as big as the DJI V1
@@AndrewNewtonAccording Oscar Liang's " FPV Goggles FOV Comparison " tool, the FOV could be the same as my Skyzone Cobra X analog box goggles or the Walksnail Avatar Goggles X (50 degrees). That's perfect for me.
Thanks for this Video 👍👍🤩🤩Mister, But i wondering if you have to use a flight controller to get the Walksnail unit to be able to send at full strength. Know that with the Dji o3 unit you only get 25 mw without being connected to the flight controller to be able to adjust the strength
No you can run straight from the flight battery, just have to turn standby mode off
Hey Andrew, FYI, some other folks who have done testing on the GT unit have found that it outputs a large amount of noise for a few seconds basically across the spectrum when you arm it, especially at high power. It is possible this will knock other pilots out of the air. Probably not much of an issue for you but worth being aware of. Mads Tech has an in depth analysis

Long range videos would invite trouble unfortunately. Are you sure you're getting out of standby mode 10mW, or closing more than 25mW?

No usb cable. This one uses sd card for firmware updates.

Im a drone pilot, but before that was a 3d heli pilot, for years, it makes no difference to me what your choice is, walksnail and flying a craft of some sort go together like strawberries & cream, i loved your review, well done and you have another sub aswell❤👌🫡
