The meaning, is that it shows how developed he is. How much experience how much influence with the police (a year two Batman would have no working police relations compared to someone who has been at it for 15 years).
They finally embraced who Batman really was. "I'm vengeance", which is how I've always seen Batman. Not fighting for justice, but to get revenge for what happened to his parents on every criminal. It also reminds us what Batman greatest weapon is: the fear he inspires. His whole character is built around a tortured soul, who uses darkness and violence to make sure criminals fear him. This is why he destroyed that thug. To induce fear to the rest of the group, show them what awaits them. This is how he's known, like a bogeyman: if you do something bad, The Batman will come, and he will crush you.
I disagree a bit, I don't think he is necessarily vengeance. Their a reason that when he finds Joe Chill he does not kill him. He still a tormented man, but instead of fighting for vengeance he fights so what happens to him never happens to anyone else. Not sure what the right word to call it but it is certainly not vengeance.

I didn't know Reeves was doing this until I looked more into it yesterday. The new PotA trilogy was so surprisingly good and Reeves only did the last two but that's a good sign for this because somehow those movies just got better and better instead of the way a lot of trilogies go.
Rob is definitely our Batman, when he beat that hoodlum up and said I'm Vengeance, I was sold. Penguin and the Riddler are going to be great! I like that Zoe's Catwoman is not Catwoman yet, but she's just a cat burglar. Robert and Zoe are going to have so much chemistry, I see this being rated R.
@@DavidBennet I don't think any Batman movie NEEDS to be Rated R, if the Nolan Trilogy can be not Rated R, then I don't see any need for this one to be Rated R. You can get away with an extraordinary amount with a PG-13 rating.
Maybe to reference the earliest comics that she was in, Selina Kyle could go by the name "The Cat" instead of "Catwoman" as a sign of early days and starting out and she clearly has the cat motif rather than a traditional burglar. And then later on in the future she would end up being called "Catwoman."
So my theory: Matt has talked about how corruption is a big part of this movie and how batman will discover corruption goes deeper than he thought. Also talked about how it’s not about his origin but it will touch on it. We see in this trailer riddler has killed they mayor and branded all the newspapers he had up praising him as “lies” so he was likely corrupt. Riddler tells Bruce at the end of this trailer that “he’s apart of this too”. So based on this I reckon that it’s gonna take a page out of telltale’s book and reveal that Thomas and maybe also Martha Wayne were also corrupt thus touching but not focusing on Batman’s origin because this fact will throw his reason for crime fighting into question if his parents were criminals themselves. Matt also said that Selina Kyle Isn’t yet catwoman and will become catwoman through the movie. This is a year 2 story so a lot of the villains are just emerging properly. Penguin for example isn’t a kingpin of crime yet and hates the name of penguin (kinda like Gotham) Should also be noted that the upcoming GCPD will be set in this universe but be set in Batman’s year 1 (and therefore before this movie). It will focus of a corrupt cop whom I assume will be Harvey bullock.
RazorO2Productions entirely possible they could set up court of owls yes but I considering this movie has penguin, riddler and catwoman there’s not much room for them in this movie
Definitely , and he's going at Batman for focusing on thug level criminals while ignoring the corrupt powerful, that's what the riddle is about: "If you are justice, Please do not lie, What is the price, Of your blind eye..." Because Batman is turning a blind eye to the real criminals
Keep in mind, Battinson doesn't really at the moment have the "Billionaire Playboy" thing going. Bruce is still very one mind, in that he's Batman all the time. Maybe through the movie he'll develop that persona.
Also the card is almost EXACTLY like the card sent to the press from the Zodiac killer. With one huge difference.. Same skeleton. Same “from your secret friend” Difference..? The giant 🦉owl🦉 . . . aka the Court of Owls. Yup. Go google it
Did you notice the dialogue at the end? When Bruce was told "You're a part of this." There a theory that is a reference to the Wayne family's history in the Court of Owls. And that the Riddler's goal is to expose the lies they've been hiding and that he's going around killing rich members.
Mikey V I’ve heard that theory... bro, and the director said that this move will delve deeply to the DETECTIVE aspect of Batman. And Court of Owls was literally all about that. At least in the comics. And the whole wayne family thing at the end of the trailer, would’ve been icing on the cake if they referenced the nursery rhyme
I love how dark they went with this version of "The Batman". They clearly took inspiration from the "Joker" movie to craft this one. Although people tend to think Batman is benevolent and charitable, which he is. He does have a very dark side to him. Where he can push his code of not killing right to the edge and get away with it.
it is pretty clear they will take inspiration with Arkham. The suit is literally a replica inspired by Arkham videogames also the scene in the trailer where he breaksthe thug's arm while he's holding some baseball bat or weapon is actually an exact move-by-move replica of the choreography in Arkham Asylum / Arkham City fights. Also the fact they're finally including Riddler and Penguin and they're going for the detective style which again... Arkham. Maybe it's confirmation bias placebo but tbh this really looks like the director played the arkham videogames.

I love the fight in this. Quick and brutal blows. Also shows he is still an angry person and not in control of himself. He hits you until you don't move and then hits some more.
Matt Reeves said yesterday during the virtual fandom event that this is more of like an origin story for the villains then it is for Batman and it supposed to be more of a psychological Thriller detective film so you're going to see Batman actually use his detective skills as the world's greatest detective to solve these murders and crimes at the Riddler and his henchmen are orchestrating throughout all of Gotham City throughout the film. Also, that is the Penguin. They used a little bit of Prosthetics and CGI but that's Colin Farrell's penguin. It's also supposed to be like a first Mark costume that you see of Selina Kyle Catwoman while she's breaking into the safe in the teaser trailer. Then, you're supposed to see her costume and her as a character grow and evolve throughout the film. Then, some of the characters will not reprise her role but others will in future installments of Matt Reeves Batman trilogy.
Been rewatching all The Batman reactions,im so ridiculously excited for this+ especially Paul Dano, he is fantastic in Prisoners and There Will Be Blood, deserves more recognition
There's a few things that make me think 'Hush' will be present in this movie. Considering Hush's identity (and the riddle in the trailer stating "from your secret friend") I think that Hush and Riddler are in cahoots
I did doubt this film once when I was a different man. Then I saw The Lighthouse and realized Pattinson is way more talented and charismatic than I gave him credit for
I never doubted it but I do now. I think the movie is way too serious, Batman comics usually aren't as serious aside from some select stories like 'No Man's Land'. I also thought Pattinson is a great casting at first but seeing him now, he doesn't fit Batman at all. I wanted Grant Morrison's Batman but this looks more like Tom King's Batman. Morrison knew the balance to seriousness and darkness with Batman while King's Batman had edginess for the sake of edginess, no thought behind it.

Us who have been waiting for their reaction: “HOW are you a part of this?”
“If you are justice,
Please do not lie,
What is the price
For your blind eye?”
- The Riddler
“I’m Vengeance”
- The Batman
(I absolutely love how the answer to the riddle The Riddler gave was also the response to the criminals Batman just beat up)
The answer for the riddle in the envelope "HE LIES STILL"
About damn time!
Best part
"That was an easy riddle...this riddler sucks!"
I busted out laughing 😂
I love the fight in this. Quick and brutal blows. Also shows he is still an angry person and not in control of himself. He hits you until you don't move and then hits some more.
Wish Shane was here still! But love you guys & completely understand .
demongawl i believe he need to fix things either with him self or with his family ! Either way I wish him the best and hopefully we see him sometime
@@camywz no he did some things that broke the trust of the rest of the crew
Sorry, I used my recorder to text this out on the thread.
This feeling like a Batman animated series feel to the trailer along with the movie seven mixed in.
I have never felt such an intensity from a trailer, ever. He is batman. He is vengeance.
There will be 3 movies so we will be seeing multiple villains throughout the movie as cameos but i pretty sure there will be just 1 main villain
Jeffrey Wright is the new Commissioner Gordon. Andy Serkis is the new Alfred. Zoe Kravitz is the new Catwoman
This looks really good. Especially as only 25% has been filmed
I love Baby Yoda chilling out by hanging on to Mjolnir in the background.
With an orchestral version of a Nirvana song and Jeffrey Wright narrating, I was half expecting him to tell Batman to freeze all motor function.
Been rewatching all The Batman reactions,im so ridiculously excited for this+ especially Paul Dano, he is fantastic in Prisoners and There Will Be Blood, deserves more recognition
Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler are in the movie....Colin Ferrell is the Penguin
The build up in this teaser is so f*cking awesome.. the fight and right after it the fire from the car
Spectacular
anyone after the movie? hshsh
IT WAS AWESOME
I didn’t know Serkis was in this - but the moment you said it I was completely sold on this movie. I have such a thing for him 😅
Batman: I'm vengeance!
Groot: I'm Groot!
Batman: I'm the night!
Groot: I'm Groot!
Batman: I'm Batman!
Love the way everyone flinched when that Joker Gang dude was getting absolutely hammered.
2:31 "I'm Vengeance"
Breaking news: A group of gang members where violently beaten by the vigilante know only as "Vengeance"
There's a few things that make me think 'Hush' will be present in this movie.
Considering Hush's identity (and the riddle in the trailer stating "from your secret friend") I think that Hush and Riddler are in cahoots
wow! They've only filmed 25% of the movie and they still made this good trailer!
I am so excited to see Robbat Battin' Bat!
I think they're gonna react to this next month when it releases on HBO Max so don't spoil them. I enjoyed it though
It’s awesome that you pointed out the eyeliner thing cause a lot of people just don’t seem to realize that it’s a lot more realistic
Can't wait for the reaction for this movie, trailer and movie was great
I cannot wait for this, im excited for all of it.
To everyone who doubted this film: Do you see my point of view now?
@@minartson I see what your saying but you could the nolan's 3 were serious with some levity I think Alfred can bring that in and even Gordon in spurts
Yours? No I don't, because I don't know you lol.
@@minartson Don't ever say Batman Comics aren't as dark lol, his best stories have been the serious and dark ones...
5:00 the way you described that, was so similar to Oswald Cobblepot in the show Gotham. Like how he rose from the bottom - From being a lackey to being one of the most powerful, manipulative villains.
2:06 Those guys remind me of the Jokerz from Batman Beyond. I guess the Joker works in the shadows since Batman appeared and he already has a following. Although I find it curious that one of them has a cross on his forehead. Or maybe they worship the Joker as a God or maybe it could be an Easter-egg from the Order of St. Dumas.
Not joker
Eric's right! That was Penguin played by Colin Farrel and Paul Dano playing the Riddler
Was the riddler the narrator?
@@yeettm8014 Yep
i LOVE that batman looks like a sad emo AND they chose to play Nirvana in the trailer... amazing
You guys were the first person(s) i thought of when I watched the trailer!
