  • Lucie Arnaz's screen test for "Yours, Mine & Ours". Lucy wanted her real-life children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. to play her on-screen children. Both Lucie and Desi made a screen test.
The screen test was recorded three times, from three different camera angles. The three lots of footage have been edited together to create a final product.

yes @Faye Merlo, this one clicked all the right boxes. The magic of Fonda-Lucy, then Van Johnson, Tom Boslry & other terrific character actors sprinkled thruout. Good job from kid actors Morgan Brittany & Tim Matheson - both had the charm on camera right at the beginning of their careers. The remake stunk - was awful.

Lucie eventually developed her own comic persona. Watching some of those early Here's Lucys, you'd never guess that she would end up carrying a whole episode practically by herself ("Lucy Fights the System", the last Here's Lucy). Lucy is so wonderful in this scene. I wish she had been a little more like this and a little less manic on Here's Lucy. She rarely wore her hair that way and I don't know why because it's very becoming.

Lucille Ball was very annoyed when her daughter and son were not taken by the filmmakers for this film , because she was the one who was producing it, at one point she supposedly said "I owned the studio and now little Lucie has to audition for a role ?"
I think it was after this incident that she made up her mind to produce the Here's Lucy series , because she was determined to launch her children in showbiz , and if others didn't give them roles ,she made sure they would display their talent in her show
Of course things did not work out that way ,Lucie Arnaz ,did not fit the typical American girl with her cpmplexion , and Desi jr was too steeped in drugs to bother about a career

The fact that her mother had a major intrest in the production of this movie had no impact on her being cast in the movie, which as you know didn't happen. So much for the Nepotism. However, you need to give Lucie Arnaz some credit. She had to work HARD at becoming her own person, growing up in the shadow of her mother. And it was her choice to go into the business. She was not "pushed" into it. She was fortunate to be in the position she was to have exposure to the business. But she paid her dues. And having heard her in several interviews she comes off as being real.

Well, yes and no. Lucie has been very candid in interviews that she was extremely lucky in having a mother who could put her on her hit TV show, giving her six year of "on-the-job training"; but if she had't had the talent to begin with, and if she hadn't worked hard, she wouldn't have lasted long. Lucille Ball was well known to be a stickler for talent and accountability, and if Lucie wasn't "cutting it", Lucy would have sacked her pretty early on, daughter or not.
