Simple physical install on all older M3s BUT allot more work on a ‘24 as in addition to the tub removal the entire front cowling has to be dropped to get to the new mounting location and all needs to be carefully reassembled to keep panel alignment and great care to not scratch anything.
For auto close when leaving. If you are backing out in reverse, it will close when you reversed 23 feet. The autoclose should not close on your car, as you should have the sensors in your garage door to stop it from closing.

Is the part number for the 2024 m3 homelink module the same as 2023?

I'm not sure about that. I didn't have to contact Tesla to access anything.
Can you provide a link from eBay of which home link you purchased for 150?
