    I just bought myself a Braun 3040s shaver to replace an older Braun series 3 shaver that I was using and the manual includes a diagram of how to replace the Nimh battery. Being able to easily replace a dead battery is a nice feature to have with an electric shaver.

      I like the idea of replacing batteries rather rather than dump a perfectly good device.👍

    This is a very comprehensive video which allowed me to bring the razor back from the dead! The price of foils and cutters for other models is very high but for this model they can still be bought at a reasonable price.
    Thanks a lot!

      I find the cutter heads very expensive and often got fakes (not sharp!). I changed to a safety razor.

      I try to buy genuine with this sort of thing. But your right it's so easy to get caught out with fake goods online these days. I'd miss going to the shops if I didn't hate shopping so much. 😂👍

    A lot of engineering has gone into that. Nice to see it’s been given a new lease of life 🔧😎

    Should be a legal requirement to make batteries easier to replace!

    Pegs on the springs better to remove with tweezers rather than flat screwdriver, broke one of two tiny spring holders, but it works even with one fortunately

    You can replace it with typical AA akkus too.

    I have a model 5414 and a model 5416. I see from the videos they contain two 1.2 volt NimH batteries. The curious thing is that Braun labels them on the outside of the case (you have to raise the long-hair trimmer to read it) as "3.5 volts". Can't figure out how they came up wtih 1.2 x 2 ==3.5. Maybe 3.5 is the charging voltage?

      Both my series 3 and 5 don't list a voltage under the trimmer but the charger states the output is 12v so maybe you have 3 x 1.2v batteries 🤔

      follow up I disassembled both shavers today, trying to make one good one out of the parts of both. Each one contains two AA-size NiMH cells as shown in the video. The bad ones measured a little over 1.2 volts each and the good ones measured around 1.44 volts each, not fully charged.

    Hello! Is it possible to mod those razors so that they work using main power instead of batteries?

    • @50plusdad-uk
      @50plusdad-uk  6 месяцев назад

      Not sure about mains but it might be possible and safer to hard wire a transformer that has the correct power and voltage.
