This is the first video I have watched in over 2 months and really enjoyed. Love the debate. Harold Baines is ONLY in because he had the right makeup of the veterans committee at the time (His Manager-LaRussa, His Owner-Jerry Reinsdorf, His GM-Pat Gillick). Surprised you didn't touch on Negro Leaguers, my guess is they will dominate the ballot. My guess is-Tommy John or Dave Parker (not both), Vic Harris and MAYBE Thurman Munson (his wife has been doing a lot of back-channeling lately). Again, really enjoyed.
Thanks for watching Frank! With the card-collecting aspect for Chris’ list is the reason we didnt talk about the Negro League guys. I’m with you on Vic Harris!
This was a fun show! I’m glad to hear Luis Tiant getting a lot of love. Jake and Chris really nailed it when talking about his place in baseball history.
I like Mattingly and am a Yankees fan but I don't understand the love of him for the hof. Only about 5 hall of fame seasons and his Last 4 for a 1st baseman were terrible
I’m a no on Mattingly as well. There are TONS of players with good stretches, but aren’t HOF-worthy. Doesn’t mean Mattingly wasn’t a star- just means he’s not HOF worthy imo. Thanks for commenting!
Too much of Not His Fault....its part of life n sports. Mattingly stayed on too long. He doesn't belong in the HOF, Dick Allen does. Allen was very consistent thru out his career. Well, Bill Mazeroski doesnt belong, just look at the stats. Also, Thurman Munson belongs in the HOF. I saw him play numerous times at Yankee Stadium n what a great competitor! He has all the accolades. Only MLB catcher in history to hit.300 with 100RBI in 3 consecutive seasons!!Only. I saw Nettles play at Yankee Stadium also in person n what a fantastic defensive player n power hitter, low BA but he belongs in the HOF.
I agree with the thought that it’s not “what could have been” but “what he did”. I may have used the phrase “not his fault” but I wouldnt use that for HOF justification! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Bench and Munson's greatest rival. Carlton Fisk. I really hope Thurman makes it through the hall of fame this time around. He only received 3 or 4 of the 12 votes that are needed, the last time.
I saw Munson play numerous times at Yankee Stadium with my late father. He belongs in the HOF. It was always him or Fisk in the AL. Munson, MVP, ROY, 2x WS, n 7x AS. What a competitor n clutch n leader n post season avg off the charts!
Steve Garvey had more 200 hit seasons than Gwynn and five gold gloves. Aslo, Matingly and Keith Hernandez. Its an outrage that Baines, Simmons, Minosa, and Larkin are in and these guys are not.

@@LegendsNeverDieCollection that would explain no Doc Adams!

Thanks Hugo! Appreciate you watching!
Fun live-stream. And good conversation. Thanks guys.
Fun video. Enjoyed this one. I would put Evans, Allen, Grich, John and Tiant in of the players shown.
Dwight Evans definitely doesn’t get discussed enough just as a candidate alone!
Great show fellas. Thanks
Thanks man! Appreciate you watching!
Koufax. Perfect example of not having longevity but the best for a short period of his career
He’s the poster boy for peak candidate for sure!
Great episode guys
Thank you Don! Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree with Greg. Defense matters!!!
That Graig, he’s a smart guy!

I would say Thuman Munson's biggest competitor for best catcher of his time was Johnny Bench.

For what it’s worth, I’m a yes on Keith Hernandez!
Talk about compilers....omar vizquel, sorry Graig 😞
Chris is a show me state kind of a guy!
Graig is a quite dangerous dude in terms of analysis/analytics
So is, the legend that never dies
I don’t care what era but the Zhof is a joke without Don Mattingly and Pete Rose.
Do you think Mattingly is the 2nd best player outside the Hall currently?
