  • This Video shows you how to replace the driver side axle on a Nissan Altima. This process requires many steps please watch the video closely and take your time, be safe use jack stands and as always Happy Motoring!
    Torque Specs
    Wheel Lug Nuts 80Ft Lbs
    Spindle Nut 203 Ft Lbs
    Lower Shock Strut Bolts 88 Ft Lbs
    To check your transmission fluid level, put your vehicle in park and start the engine and let it idle. If you do not start your engine, you will not get an accurate reading.
    Pop open your hood and locate the Transmission Fluid dipstick. It is located in the engine compartment at the front of the engine bay towards the driver side. It will have a small round handle.
    Wipe off the transmission fluid from the dipstick and reinsert. Pull the dipstick out and take a reading, if your transmission fluid is too low add transmission fluid slowly and recheck.
    Do this until your transmission fluid level is within the marks on the dipstick, and you're done!

    I got an oil change and tire rotation at a local mechanical place and they told me that both of my cv boots were busted. they said they would change both axles for $800!!!!! $141 for each axle and $480 in labor. i found both axles for $132 total and now i know how to install it. you saved me over $650. thank you so much. definitely deserves a subscribe and a like. youre the bomb!

    So I got an estimate of about $670 bucks to change both axles. I went online and found a pair for a real decent price with a 10 year warranty. I watched your videos and BAM!. You saved me $500 bucks in labor. Thanks a bunch for the videos. I also feel a great sense of accomplishment.

      Okay follow up question. Now I am seeing a transmission fluid leak. I checked to make sure it was not coming from the axle which I had just replaced and it is not but seems like it's coming from somewhere in that area. Any thoughts?

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  6 лет назад

      dvxman72 clean the area really really well with brake parts cleaner. And use a dye in the transmission fluid. Order a small black light flash light of Amazon and it will tell you exactly where you are leaking !

    • @dvxman72
      @dvxman72 6 лет назад

      Okay so turns out I did not need the UV dye. I found the leak was on the passenger side axle. I forgot that axle is longer and comes over toward the driver side so the drip had me fooled. I ordered a new seal. Any tips on replacing the seal?

      You only use CVT fluid if you have a CVT (constant velocity transmission).
      Otherwise you use transmission fluid, heavy weight gear oil for a manual and red ATF for an automatic (check your owner's manual)..

      Glen Herrera try getting a pry bar to pry between the axle and that case. Make sure you are pulling perfectly straight out. Also put the trans in neutral with wheel chocked. Turn axle a little making sure it spins freely the pull straight out again. Good luck!

    You didn't show filling transmission fluid.

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  6 лет назад

      I did not! I just updated the description in the video as a walkthrough on how to do that!

    • @Revitauto
      @Revitauto  6 лет назад +1

      The axle we had received was for a manual transmission for the same model and year car. The wrong axle was too large to fit into the splines of the transmission and was identified a few seconds after I said this C-Clip is fighting me.
