I cant believe how much you were able to fit into one 23 minute video. I just replaced the serpentine belt and it took me 2 seconds to get off but a good 20 mins to put back on. Everything else I will do this week and seems so straightforward. Thank you for the great help!

I watched another of your videos and realized I could save 30/40% after cost of occasional new tools needed for various maintenance tasks. I replaced all rotors and pads, spark plugs and pcv, and am trying to get up the motivation to flush the coolant and change the belt but man I'm tired from work! Thanks again man.

it's easy I have a 2008 altima plugs and coil packs are right on top of the engine shop wanted to charge me $500 lol it only cost me $200 to do it my self the coil packs are a bit expensive.

Don't use thse cheap coil packs off Amazon. Trust me. Definitely don't throw out your old coils. They're better quality than the cheap ones on Amazon. Always buy quality coils if you want your car to run correctly
Great job. I just learned that I naturally did a full tune up on my 2016 as I saw parts fading in capabilities. Changed my plugs at 76k because a bad O2 sensor made it run rich for 200 miles before I could find a part in oem style with a killer warranty, but half the price. Did a brake fluid flush at 60k because the dealership kept telling me it absorbed 3% water. It was definitely burnt lookin. And I clean my brakes every time I change pads. Since I was a Lyft driver, that was more often than not. I’m at 123k now, and think it’s time for the belt, and potentially cleaning the maf sensor.
I have a 2010 altima and have done all of these things too,.with the exception of changing and bleeding brake fluid. I need to do that. Pads are not bad at all. I agree, putting on that drive belt is a PIA. Helps If you have someone on top helping. Also, if you are a bigger guy like me, it's also a pia putting in that cabin air filter
Good stuff, love your attention to detail and all the great information. I'm amazed at the number of RUclips Yahoooos that post horrible videos showing half assed work. Some when doing brakes won't even use new hardware and grease, zero preparation, they just slap them back together rusty, not even a mention of pins, slides, et cetera.
I’m very impressed by this video especially the fact that you pointed out to change a PCV valve most people do not do that and that is why they have expensive gasket changes
The classic trick, to use a short length of hose to thread on a spark plug, is popular. However that same little hose caused the worst mistake I've ever made when fixing cars. Those hoses always have a slight curve to them, so when threading in the plug you lose feedback for whether your plug is going in straight. Yup, I crossthreaded the plug, and needed a helicoil to get myself out of trouble. Never again. When possible I always thread in the plug with a rigid (not wobble) extension, turning backwards at first to feel it drop in to the notch of the matching threads.
If it starts to cross thread while using the hose shouldn't the resistance of the cross thread cause the hose to start slipping on the porcelain? After i use the hose i always put my socket n extension on and continue to turn it by hand to make sure its threaded in correctly. I can see your problem happening if after the hose you went straight for a power tool to quickly run down the plug.

After the first few months on any job you start to confidently think you know how the world works. Then, through the next decade, experience shows you that life is more complicated. Mine is a 2012. Cabin filter was never changed,, looked like a science project….also,, I had to remove my glove box to change mine…thnx for vid. Good work
I like the cabin filter on the 2013 as opposed to my 06 Altima. I change my filter every 6 months cause it looks like yours at 40,000 miles. It's always full of pine tree pollen.
My Altima 2004 has a orange air filter which is washable . I am using it for 2,00,000 kilometers and it is a great product. And it is not a K&N for sure .

TIPS; • Put down newspapers before you work with fluids because some of the stuff draining out inevitably misses the pan or splashes out and the newspapers will help keep your driveway clean. • The coolant rervoir comes out easily for better cleaning. Just remove the bolt holding it in up top, disconnect the hose that connects it to the radiator, and then pull the reservoir straight up to remove it. (Although, yours looks like an older generation than mine; might be different). Somehow I always end up breaking the tab off the bottom of the cabin air filter cover.

Great Video! Thanks for the detailed steps. Just an FYI for all of you 2013 Altima owners, there are a few recalls you should look into. One is for the rear control arms. Another is a software update for the CVT, another for the airbags, and two for the hood latch. I wish there was one for the headlights, but hey....
Why are the headlights so shitty? I bought a 2014 the other day, changed out the headlights and they are still horrible. I guess I’ll have to run them on high beams all the time
Our 13 altima has the same issue with the lower control arms and the headlight. The reflective material inside the headlight degrades and it makes the headlights useless. We can't see anything driving our altima at night
Note to all: BRAKE FLUID is typically CORROSIVE, so a shop towel or the like is highly recommended around any brake work to catch any spills. Also, safety glasses for accidental sprays, spurts, etc. and look at ALL immediate responses for eye, hand, and ingestive accidents FIRST; 10 seconds of reading emergency/first aid directions are better done when you are calm and can see. 😅👍 Agreed on the belt. Better to replace BEFORE failure than have what charges the battery, cools the engine, produces power steering, etc. fail on a dark road one night, out of range of a local cell tower, and without the tools to fix it. Also, carry a quality (ask your significant other) pair of panty hose in the trunk as a backup serpentine belt...it may never get used but, tied tight with a minimal/unobtrusive knot can get you to town if driven at a low rpm carefully. A 1L or like bottle of distilled water, will buy you time on a cooling leak, a roadside kit is always a good idea to keep in the car, zip ties can temporarily fix a busted hose clamp, and don't forget to familiarize with your roadside equipment location/fuse panel before trips, most of which can be stuffed beside that spare tire you remembered to check the pressure of last check of ALL tires. 😉 There are many other great tips, but I'll leave it at that for now. Otherwise, great and straightforward video. Thanks, and cheers, brother!

Question, can I take my 2016 Sentra in to have the passenger airbag recall done? I noticed it acting weird when my sister got in my car. It has 130,700 miles.
My 2013 starts then dies out, says low fuel, gauge won't move. Yet, I know I had 3/4 tank, due to weather/freeze coming. We had -30 windchill, so I thought the fuel line is frozen. I put 1 bottle of Freeze into the tank...now 3 days later, it still turns over, then sputters out after 10 or 15 seconds...? I can't get to work..aagh! Help..I'm watching videos to try to figure it out...
I've never done anything to my car but oil change and spark plugs. How do you find a service that can check everything you went through? I don't want to call the wrong place and sound stupid since I don't know anything about cars.
Great video. We just took my wife's altima to the dealership and they wanted $2300 to do all this stuff. I had them change the brakes and I plan on doing the rest myself with the help of your video. A couple questions: How many gallons did the radiator take? Looks like about 1.5? Also, you didn't need to gap the spark plugs, it's just a plug in part?
Yes I'd say it took about 1.5 antifreeze. Most spark plugs don't need to be gapped. They come pre gapped as long as you're buying the correct plugs for your car but it doesn't hurt to check the gap before installing.
$2300 ? I would've laughed and took my keys back and walked out for sure, breaks, plugs, pcv valve for $2300 they can go take a long walk off of a short pier
Excellent video Makes it look relatively easy . But I will let a mechanic . Question 2015 SL no check engine light on but yet flunked emission Codes read P0300 P0301 . My bad I have never gotten tune up😱😱 Should I start with spark plugs?? Plan on getting all you shown done immediately at 144K mainly all Hwy miles . Have keep oil changed every 6K .
If it’s not broke don’t fix it. But if you must change out all the hoses you can and it will run great for ever. I got v6 pumping 310 hp and she runs great with

I had the check engine light on. I changed the PCV & mass airflow sensor. I have a question. When I come to a stop say at a stop sign, my engine rev drops too low -close to dying- then rises to normal idle about 750 rpm. What fix does my car need to operate smoothly? Thx.
Bro I did everything you did even changed all the shocks and springs dropped the pan for the transmission changed the fluid Nissan CVT fluid and Nissan filter Then later AC compressor broke Than later power steering hose and pump we’re leaking changed But the car still runs at 225K 💪🏻
A spark plug socket has a rubber ring that pulls the plug out as well as holds the new one to install it. Using a regular socket that fits the plug doesn't always work.

It runs great.no lights on the dash. But I really want to change the plugs, and do all the things you've done in this video to keep up with the maintenance. So I can just buy the plugs and put them in without gapping them?
You should be ok. I cant remember how many years its been since ive had to gap spark plugs. Unless someone physically changed the gap and i had to fix it . check all 4 plugs and make sure all the gaps look the same
Do you have a video on changing the compressor? I haven't price checked it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna cost an arm and a leg if I take it to a mechanic shop. So id rather do it myself if I can.

2011 Nissan Maxima: Over the course of years before I bought the car from my sister the battery would randomly leave her stranded (or so she thought) but it's odd that the car would start just fine and after a short drive of perhaps three minutes and about fifteen minutes of her shopping the battery suddenly dies when she gets back in (her job and the store were very close so it was odd that it would crank once but fail less than 30 minutes later). I buy the car and change the alternator and the electrical connector for the alternator cause the plastic was brittle and broken, I did this cause the battery would randomly be drained after the car sat for weeks or sometimes only days. Car works fine for a few weeks (not driven regularly though) and I find the battery is still draining cause it's dead one day, but I charge it up . A couple of weeks later I got in the car and it cranked just fine but then after I put it in reverse all the warning lights come on and the engine wouldn't rev up in reverse. I put it in drive and the motor will rev up and move the car, put it back in reverse and get nothing. I buy a new battery and the car is cranking and working correctly, after a trip the battery and brake light start to flutter on and off but I make it home with no issues. Now the battery and brake light keep coming on but the car is working fine, though I note that if I rev the motor up I can make the light go out after a few times reving the engine. Opinion?

I changed my belt around 110k and axles. I had warranty and thankfully got a new transmission. I definitely need to change my spark plugs
I also have a 2016 Altima. Does our model also have a replaceable PVC vlave?

Should be replacing those cabin filters every 15,000-20,000 that’s the air you breath in such a small area

I’m so glad I got this car as a certified preowned, I have a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty so I’m not gonna have to worry about the cvt when it goes.

You probably won't have an issue. Nissan sells millions of these things. Most do just fine. Just change the CVT fluid every 3 years or 30k miles

Great Video! Thanks for the detailed steps. Just an FYI for all of you 2013 Altima owners, there are a few recalls you should look into. One is for the rear control arms. Another is a software update for the CVT, another for the airbags, and two for the hood latch. I wish there was one for the headlights, but hey....
Why are the headlights so shitty? I bought a 2014 the other day, changed out the headlights and they are still horrible. I guess I’ll have to run them on high beams all the time
Our 13 altima has the same issue with the lower control arms and the headlight. The reflective material inside the headlight degrades and it makes the headlights useless. We can't see anything driving our altima at night

Note to all: BRAKE FLUID is typically CORROSIVE, so a shop towel or the like is highly recommended around any brake work to catch any spills. Also, safety glasses for accidental sprays, spurts, etc. and look at ALL immediate responses for eye, hand, and ingestive accidents FIRST; 10 seconds of reading emergency/first aid directions are better done when you are calm and can see. 😅👍
Agreed on the belt. Better to replace BEFORE failure than have what charges the battery, cools the engine, produces power steering, etc. fail on a dark road one night, out of range of a local cell tower, and without the tools to fix it.
Also, carry a quality (ask your significant other) pair of panty hose in the trunk as a backup serpentine belt...it may never get used but, tied tight with a minimal/unobtrusive knot can get you to town if driven at a low rpm carefully. A 1L or like bottle of distilled water, will buy you time on a cooling leak, a roadside kit is always a good idea to keep in the car, zip ties can temporarily fix a busted hose clamp, and don't forget to familiarize with your roadside equipment location/fuse panel before trips, most of which can be stuffed beside that spare tire you remembered to check the pressure of last check of ALL tires. 😉 There are many other great tips, but I'll leave it at that for now.

My 2013 Altima has 213,000 miles and its been the best car ive ever had. I do preventive maintenance but not as like this. I think my car deserves it. 😊
Clean your engine. Basic, simple and easy. All grease, coolant etc that sticks to the engine are flammable. Good management practices.

My 2013 starts then dies out, says low fuel, gauge won't move. Yet, I know I had 3/4 tank, due to weather/freeze coming. We had -30 windchill, so I thought the fuel line is frozen. I put 1 bottle of Freeze into the tank...now 3 days later, it still turns over, then sputters out after 10 or 15 seconds...? I can't get to work..aagh! Help..I'm watching videos to try to figure it out...

Great video. We just took my wife's altima to the dealership and they wanted $2300 to do all this stuff. I had them change the brakes and I plan on doing the rest myself with the help of your video.
A couple questions: How many gallons did the radiator take? Looks like about 1.5? Also, you didn't need to gap the spark plugs, it's just a plug in part?
Yes I'd say it took about 1.5 antifreeze. Most spark plugs don't need to be gapped. They come pre gapped as long as you're buying the correct plugs for your car but it doesn't hurt to check the gap before installing.
$2300 ? I would've laughed and took my keys back and walked out for sure, breaks, plugs, pcv valve for $2300 they can go take a long walk off of a short pier

Excellent video Makes it look relatively easy . But I will let a mechanic . Question 2015 SL no check engine light on but yet flunked emission Codes read P0300 P0301 . My bad I have never gotten tune up😱😱 Should I start with spark plugs?? Plan on getting all you shown done immediately at 144K mainly all Hwy miles . Have keep oil changed every 6K .

I had the check engine light on. I changed the PCV & mass airflow sensor. I have a question. When I come to a stop say at a stop sign, my engine rev drops too low -close to dying- then rises to normal idle about 750 rpm. What fix does my car need to operate smoothly? Thx.
Start with cleaning the throttle body and replacing the air filter
That sounds like the transmission going bad. Same thing happened to me before it went out.

Bro I did everything you did even changed all the shocks and springs dropped the pan for the transmission changed the fluid Nissan CVT fluid and Nissan filter
Then later AC compressor broke
Than later power steering hose and pump we’re leaking changed
But the car still runs at 225K 💪🏻
A spark plug socket has a rubber ring that pulls the plug out as well as holds the new one to install it. Using a regular socket that fits the plug doesn't always work.
I have plenty of those sockets. They don't hold reliably enough.

Most plugs are already gapped. When you buy they it should say what the gap and if you need to gap. Normally plugs are already gapped

It runs great.no lights on the dash. But I really want to change the plugs, and do all the things you've done in this video to keep up with the maintenance. So I can just buy the plugs and put them in without gapping them?
You should be ok. I cant remember how many years its been since ive had to gap spark plugs. Unless someone physically changed the gap and i had to fix it . check all 4 plugs and make sure all the gaps look the same
Do you have a video on changing the compressor? I haven't price checked it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's gonna cost an arm and a leg if I take it to a mechanic shop. So id rather do it myself if I can.

Hey Johnathan! great video! just a quick question when replacing the coolant, do you have to use a tube to suck out any leftover coolant that may be inside the reservoir or can you just refill it with fresh coolant?
I would try to remove whatever you can . If not possible then just top it off . Some new coolant is better than not doing anything

2011 Nissan Maxima: Over the course of years before I bought the car from my sister the battery would randomly leave her stranded (or so she thought) but it's odd that the car would start just fine and after a short drive of perhaps three minutes and about fifteen minutes of her shopping the battery suddenly dies when she gets back in (her job and the store were very close so it was odd that it would crank once but fail less than 30 minutes later). I buy the car and change the alternator and the electrical connector for the alternator cause the plastic was brittle and broken, I did this cause the battery would randomly be drained after the car sat for weeks or sometimes only days. Car works fine for a few weeks (not driven regularly though) and I find the battery is still draining cause it's dead one day, but I charge it up . A couple of weeks later I got in the car and it cranked just fine but then after I put it in reverse all the warning lights come on and the engine wouldn't rev up in reverse. I put it in drive and the motor will rev up and move the car, put it back in reverse and get nothing. I buy a new battery and the car is cranking and working correctly, after a trip the battery and brake light start to flutter on and off but I make it home with no issues. Now the battery and brake light keep coming on but the car is working fine, though I note that if I rev the motor up I can make the light go out after a few times reving the engine. Opinion?
If I replace all the coils does it matter the order? They are all the same right?
