Something I didn't see people mention yet: Gloria WAS fine. But David didn't pay. I don't think Scavs were ever highlighted in the anime but they are some of the most despicable collectives in the Cyberpunk universe. They're "partnered" with several ripperdocs and have deep underground connections with "recycling" Cyberware. No, not from dead ones like Gloria does. You can guess how Gloria didn't end up fine suddenly.
This is so interesting to see. People who have never heard of any of this without any context watch the show, they are like 7 Minutes in and the vibe and grittyness of the world is just understood. "This seems like a really rough place to be living" "So much crime everywhere". The show really does a great Job. Just started rewatching it.

If you read the seminal works of the Cyberpunk genre from Neuromancer, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Snowcrash and others, you can see what were some of the issues of their time.

I usually upload a couple days early on patreon. There’s no censoring. The music isn’t lowered and there’s a bit more full screen footage. It’s mostly the same but I usually make a few more cuts for RUclips to bring the runtime down
they should make gamers who played cyberpunk to react to the anime instead...it would lowkey be cool to see them naming the guns or cyberware the character uses lol
Funny that Edgerunners actually makes Night City seem like a shit hole, a truly awful place to live and where shit like Trauma team don't save you if you don't have cover etc. It's shit that's just not explored or even present in the video game. The game's world is very shallow. It basically makes it all about Johnny rather than delving into what makes a Cyberpunk universe intriguing and dark! I was genuinely shocked when I finally got to watch Edgerunners in the last few days!

I've seen this but kept bypassing as I'm not into Cyberpunk but when I saw the high rating on a streaming site I decided to check it out. I ended up binge watching it and it was a wild ride.
I hate the future in this series, all of the poor people get screwed from the left & the right and not only that living expenses are skyrocketing to the point where people end up on the streets in a week or even a day.
Can't stop laughing every time someone mentions ghost in the shell, since ghost in the shell was inspired by cyberpunk the pen & paper not the other way around.
God I love Edgerunners so much, but the fact you are starting this series means you won’t be doing/getting to One Piece Live Action anytime soon 🥲 So happy to have more from you tho!
This show is really good... Unfortunately, it was released less than a year after the absolute perfection that is *_Arcane._* That show was (unfortunately in this case) so damn good, the hype is *_STILL_* ongoing today, 3 full years after it originally aired. As such, Arcane cast a pretty big shadow and while I would never dream of taking anything away from the shows well deserved glory, I think it DID affect Edgerunnders negatively. It didt get the full exposure it deserved cuz Arcane was eclipsing practically everything in the onlinh pop-culture/entertainment sphere. Also, tho I dont have any actual proof for this, I think some people, perhaps even subconsciously, were less impressed by Edgerunner than they shouldve been because they had just seen Arcane. Invincible make a MASSIVE splash when ot released and while its also a fantastic show, its not really as impressive as Edgerunners. So for Invincible to have a substantially larger impact on the culture than Edgerunners, at the very least they should be rather evenly matched, I have to conclude that the reaso isnt in the show itself. Invincible was released in March 2021, no one had seen anything quite like it before. In its design its nothing special really, I looks kinda like the saturaday morning cartoons you watched growing up, (Batman the animater series, Thunder Cats etc) but the content however *_was_* very different. Its still pretty simple tho. Then came Arcane in November 2021 and absolutely NUKED the entire communit. Still to this day it was like 100/98 or something on RottenTomatoes. Its completely unprecedented and for good reason. Arcane is an *_actual_* masterpiece, Then comes Cyberpunk Edgerunners in October 2022 and its a really good show, probably the best one that year and while which you think is a better story is rather subjective, Cyberpunk is WAY above Invincible in both animation and complexity. You could water it down to calling it "A better looking, not as simple" show. There shoulve been a similar hype about this as there was for Arcane and invincible an it looked like itt in the beginning, but it died down in a matter of weeks while, as I just said, I still hear people talking about Arcane today, 3 years later. I think we might have gotten spoiled. Arcane made us cinema snobbs without us even noticing. 🤣 Anyway, This show deserves more credit than it gets... Even tho they k!IIed of my baby 😭💔 Another amazing show from that same time period that REALLY didnt get enugh cred is a show called *_Pantheon"_* I highly recommend it to anyone who liked Edgerunners. Its not AS action packed, its more of a Cyber-thriller/Drama, but it is in the same vein. Its fantastic, if you havnt already seen it, I suggest you put it at you earliest convenience. Or you'll be missing out 😁
