    Excellent work! Your gun work has the three most important components: 1) consistent speed each coat; 2) consistent distance each pass; 3) consistent atomization at the tip. I promise you folks, it’s not as easy as he makes it look!
    Great job, Bro!

      How long in between every coat? Is the nozzle setting the same on every coat with the same psi? A when does the light mist c control coat go on ,is it the colour just before the clear?

    To all experts having a stroke over the not using a sealer , relax , there is nothing incorrect with his process .
    Could he have used a sealer , yes , would it make for a better repair ? Probably not . He had a good sanding process , and that panel he had prepared after sanding will take that base coat perfectly . He had excellent coverage with the base and enough coats to cover . Spraying base and clear he had a very good technique !
    Well done and I'm sure it will wear just as good or much better than the factory junk they so very cheaply
    Spray these cars today with .

      @@jeffburger3686 That's what zx6dood is saying.....this guy is not "repairing a clear coat" he's sanding down and then REPAINTING the whole hood.
      And I'd HIGHLY recommend using a primer sealer before shooting the color on....it insures a smooth paint application with no "pin holes" showing up in the paint or other crap going on.

    I would have hit that with some two pack primer and blocked it out but still you did a nice job and the pay isn’t always justified to do all that. I can tell you have professional level skill but are slightly limited by your air. It’s testament to your skill level that you have adapted your spray style for lower air power but higher overspray/lower material transfer because it’s a garage and not a dedicated downdraft booth. You’d probably do incredible work with out having to worry about clouds of clear etc. Most guys spraying diy aren’t doing waterborne color or spraying clear at 30 psi, it’s a single stage at lower pressure, easier to manage in a tight space.

  • @ceberoonline
    @ceberoonline 6 лет назад +6

    There ARE other ways to "fix" peeling clear but this is how not to half ass it. The hood looks like it has plenty of material to start so no need to go ham on the primer. Im sold on that gun tho. Its nothing if you dont know the right settings and you made that thing lay down silky smooth. Nice job!

      I would assume time and money, sounds like a coat of primer sealer is ideal but depends on how long you want the paint job to last and how much time/money you want to spend on the fix

      I usually let it dry for 15 min between coats and no the paint does not need to dry 100% if it does you will need to scuff it down to add the next coat so not recommended to dry 100%

My car has a paint job that came from the factory with a dull finish to it and not a shine to it but l would like to know if l bought a gloss clear coat can i sand down the dull clear coat and put a shine on her instead . l subscribed and rung the bell .

    That problem here is not that the "paint has faded" as much as the clear coat is failing. It's peeling and flaking away thus exposing the base coat underneath..

    great video, ive painting for number of years etc.... and never have used sealer i went to vocational school for this trade, but to be honest iam thnking of seriously using on some chrome parts of this modern siverado, i can honestly see why this sealer would be used on chrome, but like i said i did work on my own cars and just skipped the sealer part, but anyways great video as always from the rusty state of michigan.
