Thank you for tips and I really appreciate them but when a video is short and to the point I appreciate it all the more. What I’m saying is this was, at best, a 2 minute video fluffed out to 8.5.
I havent used my spark in a2 years. Now controller won’t charge or batteries. Am I going to need to get a new controller and new batteries. If I need to I am prepared to do so. Where is the place to buy these items?
Yep, you need a slightly longer cable to reach. We actually developed a 30cm cable to do just that and you can find them on our Drone Valley website. I hope that helps and Happy Flying! Rick
Two questions and asking for your thoughts. Do you have any remedies for sunlight glare on your screen when flying in bright sunlight? Do you not have any other hack for using iphones in their cases other than modifying the controller?
Will the cable with the 90 degree plug fit the iPad with otter box? Been trying to figure out how to use my IPhone with otter box!!! It’s been a pain in the A$& having to take my phone out of the case just to fly
Yes, we designed it with a longer connection to fit the larger cases. You should be fine with ours. We have plenty in stock so feel free to order then you like and we'll ship one right out to you. Rick
Good points! I found the MINI antenna lock early. I never thought of mounting the MINI like that. I used a tablet adapter, but you do have to be careful not to block the antenna signals!
Thanks for the tip on putting the ipad mini in the controller. I grabbed my ipad to see it I could get it to fit as well and it fits perfectly too. You put your mini in across the wide axis (landscape), with the arms hold the mini at 45 degree angles, but I can slip my ipad in across the top of the short axis (portrait view) and the handles wrap down in a perfect vertical grasp. Really neat! Thanks Brother.
Thanks for the post and I'm sure it was a design decision by DJI to make the handles fit the iPad Mini but somebody forgot to mention that in the manual. It's my favorite way to fly with that controller and makes connections so easy. Stay tuned for more clips this week.
Thanks Rick. I've owned 2 Mavic Pro's and I'm waiting on my third any day from eBay. Crashed the first Alpine White when it threw a prop. The second one's Main PCB failed which caused the video image to freeze 100yds downrange. Sent the second to DJI but they wanted nearly $400 to repair. I'll harvest the White's PCB to install into the second Mavic and with the arrival of the third, maybe I'll have two useful Mavic Quads. Anyway, I appreciate your research and videos. I recently bought an iPad Mini to use and perhaps I'll employ your Controller arm technique but I've got an aftermarket iPad holder i love and thankfully, it balances perfectly. Thanks again
Nope, unfortunately these older controllers are not compatible with the newer drones like the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro. You can use the RC-N1 or the DJI RC with the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro.
can you help me I have a Samsung 21 ( the original controller you have just shown) and I can no longer fly my mavic Air the APP won't work. it keeps crashing
Hey Rick awesome video as always...I never realized the notches can hold an iPad mini. However, I'm an android guy so I was wondering if you have any Samsung tablets that you would recommend for the Mavic Mini
The antenna thing is no secret! I noticed those on day 1 and I think most people did too! I did not notice the tabet notches though or put it together what it is. Thanks!
Thanks for the post but almost all of the folks I tell about this feature have never seen it before and it's an important things that wasn't mentioned in the manual. It's great that you found it but a lot of folks missed it and I like to help fliers get the most out of their gear. Stay tuned for more clips this week. Rick
Well after seeing this video I got the bug to starting shopping around for an iPad Mini (5th gen). Got a used one off of Ebay in excellent condition and it works perfectly. Changes the flying experience for the better. Not sure if I'll ever go back to using my smartphone 😊
Thanks for the post and I haven't seen this issue. It sounds like you might have a lazy battery that needs replacing. Your better option might be to look for a spare remote on eBay or Amazon and just replace the entire remote. There are a lot of these "generation 2" remotes available and that will solve your issue.
didnt know about the ipad holes because i only have a phone , BUT only yesterday i was looking at ipads for using on the mini se because im old n my eyes arent that great now . so . thanks for the tip rick . i know what to look for now . an ipad mini .
Andy, thanks for the post and I first posted a clip on my channel about using a tablet with the Mavic Pro on Oct 30th 2016. I had a lot more hair back then (OK, a little more hair). I just thought it was something that a lot of new pilots might not know about since DJI is still using the same base controller with the Mavic Mini and the Mini SE. Be sure to stop back soon for more content. Rick
@@futuristic6801 Surely it's you that should be congratulating yourself, getting 1 subscriber in 10 years on RUclips. Your content and comments must be so engaging. Keep up the good work 👌
every day . im loving my mini se more . dji has really done well , especially for us poorer ppl that cant spend 1000's on a drone , i went out yesterday in the wind , and could not believe how well the drone and camera handled it . it was pretty strong wind . but it never fazed the se at all .
Hope you had a merry Christmas, Rick. Nice reminder of some of the little things included in DJI products. So much goes into stuff that's so little. Wishing you and your family a wonderful 2022
Beware of the plug that is used both to connect to the phone and to charge the battery! It's really fragile. Not a USB C. It cost me a lot to have it fixed.
Bro. I also use an iPad mini 6 as my “view screen” but I use an attachment which I have misplaced and have been using my wife’s phone. All along I could’ve been using just what I had… 🤯🤯🤯 I literally tested it while you were describing it and I cannot believe I have been NOT doing this 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
I'm glad that the clip helped. I felt the same way when I figured out that the iPad Mini would fit into the handles of the controller. Have fun and happy flying!
unreal have had the mighty mini for over a year now and never knew this stuff wow utterly wow
Thank you for tips and I really appreciate them but when a video is short and to the point I appreciate it all the more. What I’m saying is this was, at best, a 2 minute video fluffed out to 8.5.
Can you also do a Video on the Hidden Secrets on the Gen 3? Thanks. Great Video
Excellent points
Is there a different remote that will work with the SE
where can I buy a longer connector cable for a mini tablet? DJI said that they don't carry them
I bought a 3ft cable from Amazon that has a 180' bend for the lightening cable end. Keeps the cable tucked behind and works great.
Good tips Rick
I have a mini se and wanted to get a charging hub and extra battery. I was wondering what batteries and charging hub would I buy?

So I guess you can buy a longer connection cable to connect the iPad mini to the controller? Sorry new to the drone and controller.

Appreciate you taking the time to make videos showing things most of us don't know about. Now, I will make sure I lock my antennas on my 2 Pro.
do they make Arms that can fit larger phones or even tablets.
Great Video and Tips Rick! Thank You.

Spot on as always hope you had a great Christmas
Thanks for the tip Rick Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Hey Rick awesome video as always...I never realized the notches can hold an iPad mini. However, I'm an android guy so I was wondering if you have any Samsung tablets that you would recommend for the Mavic Mini
I use a 9 inch Samsung 6lite. Works awesome.
Thanks for these tips Rick! Got to love those DJI engineers!
Beautiful and thank you for sharing this. Even small things become really huge when we didn't know about it.

Glad to help! I love exploring tech like this and sharing what I uncover. Stay tuned for more content this week!
You sir have blown my mind with the iPad mini hack! And to think, I never needed the tablet adapter after all......
What about the speaker looking wholes under it 🤔
Do you guys experienced remote controller always turned off?

Excellent video and information, most operators I know ain’t aware of features you mentioned. Thank you for sharing 👍

Just clicked the antennas together on my Mavic Mini remote. Never even knew it was there. Thanks 👍
noticed the antennas are opposite facing to . thought it was a fault at first , then worked out the click thing n it made sense lol
Good information for newbies, but this was old news for me back in 2016.

Hope their software developers use some brains and update their useless app which not even open on Android 12 anymore.
