  • An amazing rescue caught on camera after a 9th grader collapses to the ground during a gym class at West Jordan Middle School. It's a scene that could have ended in tragedy, if not for the quick actions of school administrators who rushed to his aid.

38 seconds go by before the first person walks over to check on the fallen body. Everyone more or less ignores the distressed while the guy with the grey top white shorts walks all the way across the floor to be the first to assist.

It is really disturbing to see so many people pass that child who was clearly in distress without making any attempt to enquire or assist him. Great that there was a positive outcome, but that appears to be despite of and not because of the response of the students and teachers there at the point of collapse. Pretty sobering stuff.

When a person has this happen to them, the clock is ticking. Went the heart stops it is clinical death. In four minutes it is biological death and the brain is forever damaged even if the person has his heart beating again. I had a friend of mine happen to her. She collapsed. She was down for over four minutes then received CPR. Her heart was restarted, but her brain was so damaged she had to be institutionalized. This was decades ago. She is still in that home for retarded people. So sad as she was such an effervescent person at one time.

You nailed it! All the people that assume and pass judgement. Kids are weird, dramatic, etc, especially at 9th grade. We don't know the kid- maybe he clowned around alot. And how often does someone so young collapse with a heart attack? They probably all thought it was a prank - which is a million times more likely at that age than a heart attack. The kid survived and is thankful. 36seconds is seconds, not minutes- this was quickly dealt with. He is lucky and thankful.

this is very upsetting , I assume that this kid wasn't social and no one in that gym interacted with him , and didn't have proper empathy tought to them by parents and just did nothing, watched , kept running , kept walking ........ fucking upsetting
