    • @senditkevin
      @senditkevin 2 года назад +3

Yeah I agree. I know everyone talks about Seattle 89 and how it was amazing, but the first live concert I heard from them was Moscow 91 probably 4 years ago. Before that i had listened to Master of Puppets a bunch but didn't get beyond that. I've known Enter Sandman for 10 years ish. Then I went back and forward through their catalog.
At some point about 8 months ago I went through Seattle 89, and my first thought when James started Blackened was, 'Wow that's sloppy and fast'.
      Now in their defense:
1: It was 1989 and sound quality and recording has obviously come a long way.
2: I know they like to play faster live.
3: From what I've heard back then, wouldn't be sunrises if James was drunk playing that show.
So I conclude with Moscow 91 being my favorite live show, Manchester 2015? my second, and probably S&M2 being 3rd.
My point with telling all this is I really really liking this slowed, more accurate speed they are playing at live, it sounds soooooo much tighter.
I'd be curious to know how much they have to touch up these live recordings in post production.

    Lyrics of this amazing song:
    I can't remember anything
Can't tell if this is true or dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
    This terrible silence stops me
Now that the war is through with me
I'm waking up, I cannot see
That there's not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath as I wish for death
    Oh please God, wake me
Back in the womb, it's much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can't look forward to reveal
Look to the time when I'll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
    Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this life off from me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
    Oh please God, wake me
Now the world is gone, I'm just one
    Oh God, help me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
    Oh please God, help me
    Darkness imprisoning me
    All that I see
    Absolute horror
    I cannot live
    I cannot die
    Trapped in myself
    Body my holding cell
    Landmine has taken my sight
    Taken my speech
    Taken my hearing
    Taken my arms
    Taken my legs
    Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell

What makes them unique? It’s called longevity. They’ve never disappointed me in anyway. Almost 40 years of metal madness and they’re still going strong. I remember that show like it was yesterday. This is the very best live capturing of One I've seen from these guys. Lars playing proper tempo is BEAUTIFUL, makes the song so much heavier and somber. exactly what it needs to be. You can see Rob glued to him on the drum riser , making sure he's keeping time and groove. they must have rehearsed a lot and it shows. awesome to see them play like that! Mad props to stage crew, the visual, pyros and all.

    • @sancamilobad

They now use a click in their in-ear monitors. Or at least Lars does. That's why they are playing in the studio version tempo. Sounds heavier and tighter.

Well, to support the click theory, you can put a metronome with the album version tempo. If you put the original song, it will match most of the song but, because they didn’t use metronome for all the sections of the songs (or at least, not the exact same tempo across the entire song) sometimes it will go even slower in this live performance.

This song is part of my DNA. In my opinion the whole “groove” metal craze that was spearheaded by guys like Pantera or even Helmet was directly or indirectly informed by the And Justice For All with the super dry guitar sound. There was also many stop start chugging grooves that are pretty archetypal of that whole genre. Bottom line, Metallica’s influence reaches far and wide because they kick serious ass…
