I love the Dumbo TX/RX combo. I now have it installed on 6 different vehicles, with 3 spare receivers for future upgrades! Can't beat it for the price, it's range, features and the gyro function. With my r/c's, I found it works best to turn the gyro all the way down for my cars that have perfect steering already. Otherwise, the gyro tries to "over correct" your inputs and makes the car flip... in other words, if your car runs straight already and doesn't need gyro, then turn it off. The gyro's job is to keep the car running straight, not (like you said) to correct your turns! (gyro on, when you make sharp turns, the car will flip because the gyro is trying to make it go straight!) Good job, thanks for sharing... 💥💥POW!!! -djsoulforce!!!

I disagree DJ, the gyros purpose is to also help keep a truck stable in turns not just in a straight line! A simple google search explains the purpose of what a Gyro built into a receiver is for. I have had one in my brushless trucks for a while that have good steering already and it still helps keep the truck from peeling out in turns. (A gyro allows you to drive the RC car toward a given direction and take precise turns at high speed. It makes your car more manageable, more controllable and more stable.) Example taken from simple search and explanation on Google
Yes it’s just the deal on top is the gyro if you have the gyro receiver version . I show ya in the video. The another adjustments for steering trim and throttle trim are under the lid of the controller. I have my steering set up on channel 1 and my throttle set up on channel 2. So under that lid is where the adjustments for channel 1 and channel 2 are.

Make sure it’s not backwards mine was, it’s supposed to make the wheels turn the opposite direction your chassis is facing( to reverse it press the receiver button twice until it does the red and green thing)
I've got an old '90s Radio Shack car that I'm upgrading from toy grade to hobby grade and I was looking at this controller. Wasn't sure what the gyro part of it was but thank you for demoing it. It's essentially the same as the Traxxas TSM
Way to go Donnie. Been doing some electrical repairs on broken equipment. I finally found a replacement controller for my scooter after being Grounded since October. I had the same hesitation problem too but all you have to do is reset it. Pull the steering towards you and press full throttle then turn the transmitter on. let go of the steerting wheel and the throttle and press channel 3. The light on top should start blinking. Now go full right then full left. then full forward then full backwards.Then press channel 3. Done

Great review on the TX/ RX... I am looking into getting a different RX/TX setup for my Arrma RC's that came with the STX2, so it was great timing. Seen these pop up on some of the RC forums with good reviews...

Not sure if anyone said it yet but you can hook 10 receivers or something to that Dumbo I have 2 on my dumbo, my Xmaxx & my arrma Typhon... its a good idea to keep the servos and motor all going in same direction or it could get interesting on ya

Mike Cabardo the glitch buster should be able to connect in any channel of the receiver. So you can use the 3rd channel spot if you wanted, it’s up to you.
Does it matter which way you place the receiver (as in if the antenna on it faces back or front) for the gyro to operate properly or it can be stuck on the car any direction?
I am sort of new at this... please help...I have an e revo 2.0(2019) Could I use this Dumbo receiver in that truck....it has two steering servos.....the receiver would need two channel one's correct??
Hey Corey, thanks for watching. Your manual should have the instructions on how to calibrate the esc. Should be similar to a hobbywing esc I would think. I don’t have the kraton yet and only the typhon . If I get a chance I will try to have a look, just have a lot going on atm. Thanks again for stopping in and I wish I could be more of help. Hi in my experience these gyro receivers work correctly when they are installed upside down. Counter intuitive I know but I found my information from another you tube. I installed my gyro upside and boom it works correctly at any percent. When I tried to run my car with the gyro face up it would do the opposite role of a gyro which caused a lot of crashes just like in this video.
This one Cannot be installed upside down because it’s built into the receiver. If was upside down I won’t be able to have the wires in there unless I cut a hole through the bottom of the chassis. Thanks so much for watching and be safe out there.
@@BIGDRONEFLYER77RC try to think outside the box in terms of mounting positions. In my time of ownership of these cars, where the manufacturer says to put things is often cheapest for them and not optimal for you. My gyro hands down just would not work the right way up. Perhaps that is why these handsets are flooded onto banggood and so cheap. I like mine due to the range and working gyro.

Thanks for watching. So far it’s doing well, the esc is 100amp and has no problems running 4s. So the power supplied to the dumbo is only 5v just like the stock receiver.
don't know if you have the answer but I have bought two different controllers in trying to utilize the third channel to manipulate my lights and neither one of them work? I even bought a different light kit and still will not function to turn on/off the lights? Do you have any magic in your bag to give advise? it's the little things that are a pain in my ASDFSDFSDF
You should be able to run the lights and blinkers with this controller. Just have to plug the power of the lights in receiver channels power your going to use. I haven’t had any problems with this dumbo rc yet, I bought another receiver and use the same controller for several of my trucks. So I’m not sure why your not getting the lights to come on. Maybe your esc is not putting out the voltage to the receiver. Did you test it on another rc if you have one?

@@BIGDRONEFLYER77RC was thinking the same. although I would expect the x4 not to have a button for changing the gyro response. so I think somehow the default gyro setting will stay enabled?
It my use one of your empty channels for the gyro, either way you have to enable the gyro from the receiver it’s self. So if it was on a default gyro setting and it’s too much of the gyro. If there was no way to adjust it on your x4 controller, you can always just shut it off from the receiver. If you bought it to try it, so if that makes sense at all?

I was very lucky that it was from one of my sponsors. Since I’ve been sick, I haven’t been on RUclips making videos. So while I was down trying to recover, the last few years I totally rebuilt my Xmaxx 8S I upgraded it. it’s just amazing. Super fun.. I will be making videos on it this summer. Also bought the Traxxas E Revo 2.0, bought all the upgrades as well. Take care and rebuild that zombie the way you want it. It will be a great runner then, just sad that you shouldn’t have to do that. What can you do, but make it haul some a$& with your own build.

You should have disconnected one one of the motor wires the gyro should be down with double-sided tape or glue

I just put this combo on my Typhon v4 6s. I can't find any videos on how to set the steering end points. How did you do it? Just the dials on the Rx?

This is a fun truck but the screws all Vibrate out and you have to add Loctite to him. That 4s battery makes it scream

always calibrate the esc to the controller first that's why you have that delay i believe

Where did you connect battery to the receiver?
For this I just connected steering servo to channel 1 and the throttle from esc was connected to channel 2.

What is the port assignment for the 6ch with gyro? Is there a bind slot? I’m looking for a slot where I can put in a GlitchBuster.

You can use other receivers but the TQ Traxxas uses is a great one that comes with the erevo 2.0. I’m leaving mine in the Erevo .
How fast dose you rc car go up too mine is 60+ but I want to know your
Stock was 44 I think, I haven’t done a 4s speed run yet. I just been busy with a lot of rebuilds, so I need to get it back out for a run.

The Gyro should be flat on the chassis and the chassis should be level or sitting at ride height when activating it

When I tried to run my car with the gyro face up it would do the opposite role of a gyro which caused a lot of crashes just like in this video.
This one Cannot be installed upside down because it’s built into the receiver. If was upside down I won’t be able to have the wires in there unless I cut a hole through the bottom of the chassis. Thanks so much for watching and be safe out there.
@@BIGDRONEFLYER77RC try to think outside the box in terms of mounting positions. In my time of ownership of these cars, where the manufacturer says to put things is often cheapest for them and not optimal for you. My gyro hands down just would not work the right way up. Perhaps that is why these handsets are flooded onto banggood and so cheap. I like mine due to the range and working gyro.
Perhaps you would consider doing a video the right way up and upside down and compare the observed and expected behaviour

How is the Dumbo esc holding up to the four cell? I just ordered mine. Was wondering if that esc could be used with a three cell.
Thanks for watching. So far it’s doing well, the esc is 100amp and has no problems running 4s. So the power supplied to the dumbo is only 5v just like the stock receiver.

don't know if you have the answer but I have bought two different controllers in trying to utilize the third channel to manipulate my lights and neither one of them work? I even bought a different light kit and still will not function to turn on/off the lights? Do you have any magic in your bag to give advise? it's the little things that are a pain in my ASDFSDFSDF
You should be able to run the lights and blinkers with this controller. Just have to plug the power of the lights in receiver channels power your going to use. I haven’t had any problems with this dumbo rc yet, I bought another receiver and use the same controller for several of my trucks. So I’m not sure why your not getting the lights to come on. Maybe your esc is not putting out the voltage to the receiver. Did you test it on another rc if you have one?

@@BIGDRONEFLYER77RC was thinking the same. although I would expect the x4 not to have a button for changing the gyro response. so I think somehow the default gyro setting will stay enabled?
It my use one of your empty channels for the gyro, either way you have to enable the gyro from the receiver it’s self. So if it was on a default gyro setting and it’s too much of the gyro. If there was no way to adjust it on your x4 controller, you can always just shut it off from the receiver. If you bought it to try it, so if that makes sense at all?

I was very lucky that it was from one of my sponsors. Since I’ve been sick, I haven’t been on RUclips making videos. So while I was down trying to recover, the last few years I totally rebuilt my Xmaxx 8S I upgraded it. it’s just amazing. Super fun.. I will be making videos on it this summer. Also bought the Traxxas E Revo 2.0, bought all the upgrades as well. Take care and rebuild that zombie the way you want it. It will be a great runner then, just sad that you shouldn’t have to do that. What can you do, but make it haul some a$& with your own build.
