- So one of you lovely subscribers told me a way i could restpre my tired old steering wheel, So thats what we did today! Enjoy.

Karl Ruditis Agreed, you can often get a bissell spotclean or little green machine for not very much on Gumtree or eBay. Or a big VAX rapide ultra to do the house carpets as well.
Agreed. A carpet washer made my astra sxi seats look brand new
Even spraying and working in a APC brings seats right up! Just takes time to dry

Huge improvement, it's these jobs which really make a car! The steering wheel and air con make the car feel so much newer. Shampooing the Sears will be the next big lift.

Just done my steering wheel, cleaned it with cleaning alcohol, light rub down with 1200 wet & dry, masked it off then used shoe leather dye applied by dabbing on with a bit of sponge, That gave it the leather texture look back & no need to remove the wheel either. Came up lovely.
old video I know. but just some advice info for others. you can buy actual leather dye in various colours as well as this paint. it would be worth trying to remove some of the smudged colour that is all bumpy particularly on the right hand side. lightly sanding would do this.

In some Nail polish removers is either aceton or oils, both not perfect for paint preperation.
Nail varnish remover in the UK comes in two types. Ideally you'll want the more common one, that's 100% acetone - it'll be listed on the active ingredients list on the side of the bottle.
I use it for removing thermal paste from CPUs, mainly, however, one has to be very careful on what plastics it's used on as it will react with some, you definitely don't want to be using it on things like CD cases, or optical discs. The dvd and bluray cover plastics that hold the covers in place seem ok and it'll remove any stubborn glue from labels etc pretty easily. It'll basically melt the surface of some plastics on contact, so if you do decide to use it as a cleaner make sure you test it on a small patch that you don't mind damaging prior to giving things a good scrub with it.

Purple meths from Halfords is what I use for degreasing, very good and cheap, I usually use the leather dye and sponge kits from eBay, although looks much better than before
How's it holding up over time?
I've used that same paint in the past but not on parts that get as much use as the steering wheel.
Nice one.. looks miles better. Ive done a few of the ZS wheels back to blue.. shame the Halfords blue is a little off.. still really good compared to how manky they are before you refurb!

On my mondeo to get the steering wheel off you have to turn it a quarter turn so you can get your screwdriver bit into the recesses where the airbag bolts are!
If you sort out the seat and door upholstery the fiesta is gonna look FIRE

Quick note always put the bolt back onto the wheel just a tad incase the steering wheel is being stubborn too get off and doesn't end up in your face 😁

Looks fine. Will take a couple of days to cure. The weather really helps. Invite a car detailer onto your channel and see what they can do with the seats.
As someone who paid attention during chemistry class in school, I cannot approve of this. ;) Obviously, this has to bond properly and if it says it is not for leather, then it isn't. This won't last in the long run.

Seems daft going to all the effort of taking off the wheel and not replacing it with a new part. I don't think I'd want a vinyl feeling steering wheel either.

I think you should have used flexi clear coat to prolong the life of the paint.
There is no way i would be doing this yearly if that's all its meant to last.

There's such things at .5 sockets? Been going to college for 3 years to study mechanics and never once have I seen a .5 socket in any of our workshops e.e

Probably not worth any of the work he's done at it if all you see are dollar signs, but this series is all about taking a tatty unloved car and turning it into something he can be proud to sit in for very little expense. Sometimes it's not just all about what it's worth in monetary terms
