    Your content gave me the confidence to attempt brake disc and pads replacement on a fiesta and even replacement of air suspension struts on my Mercedes. Yes on the driveway.

    Good stuff and so much progress, looking forward to when you drive it!
    1. Yes that boot trim is a pig to remove and my boot mounted brake light also had the water marks but I think there are drain holes for that. Bulbs were always going in that boot mounted brake light so it might be wise to replace with canbus leds if you still have the trim off (bet you've put it back on).
    2. My leak was from the washer jet on the tailgate which is also quite a common fault. Washer jet was crap as well
    3. Never remove the other end of those cable boots on the tailgate. The side that's on the tailgate itself has a very difficult to remove retaining clip which the boots sits around. I found this when fitting a reversing camera.
    4. When replacing my bonnet release cable I removed the passenger side headlight but couldn't get the connector to release as it seemed 100% stuck. Also bonnet release cables snapping/sticking was common as they would rust around the latch side. You can get the complete kit to replace it but its a fiddle job under the carpet, through the bulkhead, battery out, airbox out, headlight out etc. However they did sell cable only kits where you'd thread a new cable through the old sleeve which could save a lot of time.

    Hey man. I have a 2010 mondeo Titanium X and I had a small pond in my spare wheel well which resulted in lots of mould etc. The leak for me was coming through the wiring grommets that come from the boot lid in to the car body. Really enjoyed this video, thought the solder connectors were a good idea. Regarding the boot leak, another common source of water getting into the boot, is in heavy rain, the water runs part way down the side channels and then drips into the boot. To avoid this part open the hatch, let the water drain and then fully open it.

    Ford does offer (at least in the US) connector pigtail kits to allow you to replace a bad connector by cutting the wires and soldering to the new pigtail ends. That connector is the same one that my 2013 Focus ST uses, and probably many other Fords too. As far as the clip goes, they are very easily broken (I broke both of mine!) but fortunately my connectors do stay put with friction alone...:) But you CAN purchase that plug separately, as well as a special tool to de pin-it - let me know if you want the part numbers!
    Update - obviously I should have watched to the end before commenting! Lol. You did exactly what I would have done to fix the headlight connector. In fact I will be doing that to my own eventually!

  • @akosmonostori3416
    @akosmonostori3416 3 года назад

    Great video! The reason of the water ingress on the headlight is the missing round shaped rubber cover (cornering light cover). It is visible when you removed the headlight. Another possible cause might be missing/broken plastic back cover or it’s tabs. The rust is coming from the afs actuator motor which is situated near to the bottom of the headlight. When that much water gets in the motor is literally under water which makes it corrode and malfunction. Actually you can disassemble the headlight connector and replace the housing, but it will not worth doing. The connector will stay firmly connected without the plastic locking tab. This locking tab thingy is the first thing to break off if you not familiar with how to undo the connector. :)

    Hi mate I also had the soaking wet headlight problem. Sealing it up didn't work, so had to get a replacement used part. My connector plug was also broken at the clip (they are horrible to get off and end up breaking I think), but it still fitted on ok and seems to be staying on by itself so thankfully I didn't yet need to splice in a new connector - but its good to see how you did it in case I need to in the future.
    One thing I did need to do after fitting the new headlight is get into the car config using Forscan and run a headlight calibration service procedure in order to clear the dashboard warning.
    Also hoping to fit some new numberplates, the bonnet gas struts and replace all the interior lights with LEDs.
    Hope to see more of your videos in future!

    Blockage in Sunroof channels, front cowl drains, and rear hatch drain channels will cause major problems if dead leaves, acorns, pine needles, grime and debris aren’t regularly wiped away. Nice job James on fixing the leaks and the mirror, bad luck on the headlight harness. Stuff happens.

      I had the same thing on my 06 Focus. The roof is glued to the sides of the Car and this glue tends to crack. Common Ford fault of tha era.
