Awesome video, its cool you messing with cars, it helps RUclips watchers get ideas for their cars to see whats wrong, the fiesta is coming nicely slowly making it look smart again.
Little tip for undoing hub nut crack it while wheel on car and stood on floor miles easier that way found that out when had to change passenger side drive shaft
The crank case breather hose can be a awkward job if the manifold is left on just be careful with the plastic socket on the bottom i cracked mine when removing it.
I had a windscreen replaced through my insurance for a Focus I owned, it cost me £75 excess. You have to declare it as a claim for the next 5 years and it DOES affect your premiums even though they say it doesn't. Later found out it would have cost me £175 through a local independent company, a lot less than it cost me in excess and hiked premiums for the next 5 years. Worth looking around.
I read the fine print, hunted around. Prices from £170 to £300 and "We only deal with insurance companies" -well, I'm a bloody paying customer - retail! It was a factory Pilkington brand. No wiper arm alignment marks though.
Worth plugging a scanner in after you repair that pipe and watching fuel trims while spraying. Might have more than one vacuum leak on an old car like that. I'm impressed how easy you got it all apart without a torch and air tools.
I think if you separate the headlight unit you can actually remove the internal silver reflector so and the orange surround to make the headlight ‘clear’ so with chrome style bulbs it looks good
Quick test to check wheel bearings, Put steering on full lock and you'll feel it in the steering wheel, good watching someone learn through trial and error, the best way to learn, DIY,
Nice work mate. Those hub knuckles can be a right pain to get back on tip is to wedge a little bit to spread the knuckle. Also those pads seem to have uneven wear worth checking for sticky pistons or sliders.
Great video. My windscreen was free with the insurance and no excess payment required. Tell them a stone hit it on the motorway, they can't argue with that. You know you should have loosened the driveshaft nut with the wheel on the ground... Keep up the good work. Btw I use a local motorfactors as they are handy and sometimes cheaper than the internet.
Hi great video , a little disappointed you didn’t have a go at the bearing replacement with a bearing puller yourself . I know some times they don’t all ways work and you require a hydraulic press . I am going to have a go at my Corsa front bearing soon , if the puller doesn’t work I will be doing the same as you
It's worth contacting a local independent windscreen fitter to get a price. Even though a windscreen claim does not affect your NCD you are supposed to declare it as a claim when you reinsure as you have made a claim on your policy and potentially that claim could effect your new premium. I claimed for a windscreen for a van a few years back and when I got my renewal notice last week it is shown on it as a historic claim.
Wow mate, that's a lot of rust on the suspension parts. Road salt? Have a 2001 MK-I Focus, and the car has zero rust anywhere. Just finished replacing the timing belt. That one was fiddly. Also have a '74 Ford Galaxie. Good job on replacing the bearing.
Always buy the best suspension parts and wheel bearings, they.l last much longer. Put new wheel bearing in your freezer for a couple if days before fitting them.
If if you hadn't rounded off the bolt for the ABS sensor you probably wouldn't have got it out anyway. It's common for them to have seized in the hole they go through and the body of them is plastic so you can't hammer them out :/ You ended up doing exactly what I did when I replaced the wheel bearing on my Getz, except I didn't need to take the wheel arch liner out.
G JM yeah mate, I had to replace an abs sensor on civic and had to take hub off just to drill it out from the inside. Thing was made out off plastic and breaks when you try and remove it.
The new MOT regs say that only cars manufactured from March 2018 onwards need to have working front fog lights (if fitted). I would imagine most MOT testers will check and advise on older cars.
RE: Vacuum leaks. If you cannot find it. Get a can of Starter Spray. And systematically spray it around the inlet manifold. All intake joins, and all pipes. As soon as the revs suddenly shoot up. You have found the area of the leak.
Hi James maybe you could do a quick pre mot video? showing some of the younger viewers what to generally check before mot day. Edited .... I paused this video around the 8:36 min mark to write the suggestion above then pressed play & it looks like you are just about doing what I asked haha

Indeed if fuel trims read very positive at idle and then improve when the RPM is raised you have a vacuum leak👌

Might be worth getting some lock on sockets from Sealey or Mac they really do work with rounded nuts/bolts.

Rear indicator bulb was working after you touched the light.
oh yea lol Just saw that too
Spotted that too haha

You're making progress with the Fiesta. You should be able to get most of the stuff you need (definitely the bulbs) from a local motor factor.
You need to get yourself a set of spiral bolt removers. Saved me so many times with rounded nuts/bolts
So good to see this car getting some good t.l.c .much needed

You should do the same as you did with the break lines!
Clean the rust off and paint it :D

Hi. What brand of bearing you prefer/ have you used ? Does it matter.
Keep up the good work man, love the videos

Making good progress mate, are you still going to put the ST220 wheels on the focus :)
Where do you get the new bolts from that youve rounded off?
Coming along nicely
Should have loosened the main axle/driveshaft nut with wheel on the ground to avoid putting strain on the gearbox innards.
The indicator bulb just started to work sometimes they need a tap
That brake caliper seems to be partially if not completely seized,it should not come out that hard. You can find cheap rebuild kits on EBay
Bearing sounds fine, dab of grease and you're good to go 😂
Nothing some wd40 cant solve
Where did you get the wd40 bottle and liquid from
Owen Thomas you can get them on eBay with 5 litre refill for about 23 quid
Good video mate
Love love love the videos 👌🏼
where do you buy your replacement bolts from?
Anyone got a link to a solid, cheap, Amazon braker bar? Mine already bends quite a bit when using it on the regular wheel bolts. (occasional DIY only)
Baerchenization I got a 750mm 1/2" drive Sealey breaker bar for just under £20 on Amazon.
can imagine changing the wheel studs are a pig to do
my zeetec s needs a new stud
Wow, so much rust to be honest. Crazy 😜
ive got a pair of mk5 fiesta headlights you can have. just pay for the stamp
ABS sensors are always a pain in the arse unless you’re replacing it. You did the right thing by just unplugging it
G JM yeah mate, I had to replace an abs sensor on civic and had to take hub off just to drill it out from the inside. Thing was made out off plastic and breaks when you try and remove it.
I usually cut a slot in the bolt head with a dremil and use an impact driver and hammer to shock it loose if it's rounded off. Wd40 helps it aswell.
Change as a pair as a matter of good preventive maintenance.
Loving the videos :)
its 70 quid to replace windscreen trough insurance, without insurance should be less than 200
Jarrus Killa depends what the excess is🤞🏼
I would of just replaced the hole hub unit lol defently when it looks that bad
What a car. I'm tempted to buy this type of car and try doing repairs myself even though I have no experience. Should I?
Yes, we all start somewhere. Older simple cars like this are perfect to start on.
Yeah go for it! They are dead easy cars to work on for the most part. Rust is the biggest killer with this particular model.
👌🏼
Jesse Collingham ayy Jesse 😆
My sticker came today :)
Those brakes eint the best
Great video James, nice tee as well is that new for the channel?👍
Ye the real indicator stated working
Front fogs aren't an MOT requirement for cars manufactured before March 2018
Sammy TheSeal they are actually
Bike Vlogs and more They arent i think youre confused with rear ones. alot of cars didnt even come wth front fogs eg lower spec cars
Raj Shah that’s true I have worked on these cars and the lower spec cars sometime have them
The new MOT regs say that only cars manufactured from March 2018 onwards need to have working front fog lights (if fitted). I would imagine most MOT testers will check and advise on older cars.
Stuart Farrington yea they do check the front dogs

Lockwood would of Had his rattle gun to undo that 32mm axle nut lol I say use manual force 😬
Just subscribed i like your videos

mike smith you need to check all the lights screen wash and wheels bearings and under the car for any exhaust leaks
And rust
Idling problems? It’s a Ford thing
that thing is crusty af but i still love it
First! :) love the channel bud
