Alan Kay’s Kukri Mods

- The Kukri makes an excellent survival /bushcraft blade. It performs great on many tasks from clearing brush to butchering animals. Alan shows us the steps he takes to modify a traditional Kukri to his liking. Complete with hockey tape wrapped handle for added grip and cold blued steel I think you will approve.

Third time watching this and it never gets old! Thanks Jason and Alan.
Thanks!!!
Agreed!
I liked this video the first time you posted it 😎
Every time I watch it, I have to get my kukri out and think about getting another.
Fun, ain’t it?
Did it get pulled from before?

I don’t think so, I can still see the first one.
It’s just such a great video , they posted it again 😎
Nice work on that blade Pal 👍
I don't like overly thick blades either but that one by Frank is Spot On and fast in hand plus it chopped that limb very well.
😊

Im purdee sure John Waynes Kukri would look a whole lots like a Colt Peacemaker lol. Good video made my good Cigar even better this morning. Thumbs-up y'all ~John
Right on
I'm with Allen, the only thing that I want shiny is a signal mirror, which is kept inside a case (I'm an old Army Ranger Sniper)!!
Yes, mustard works great to force a patina, I've used it for several of my knives!
What particular model is that kukri from frank?
Survival model, I believe.
Alan showed some of us at the Patreon Event one of his knives like these and it was SWEAT! 😍🇺🇸 Update: Sweet lol...
They have a Patreon?
Alan was a instructor for another Patreon Group..
Haha.. The camera man must be the Kydex Guy 😆🇺🇸...
Yep. Although I have been slacking lately.
Marginally slacking
I love my Condor k-tac kukri! All the best from 🇦🇹🤠👍
@slywolf2025 Really🤔? Do you know for what reason? Atb from Austria
Interesting that you just reloaded this video! Just got contacted by Frank and he had one of these available, so I snatched it up!! Can I get in touch with the Kydex guy? 😂
Kydex guy has been slacking even more lately
@@ONThree So no chance I could talk Kydex Guy into a Sheath?😂
@@ONThree So I'm guessing that's a No on a sheath?
@@Fenianboyo did u ever get one
Whats the thickness and length of the new Kukri compared to old?
Check out the Heritage Bushcraft Mk3 kukri. I ordered one and I am very pleased with it. I sanded the wood handle to reduce hot spots and put a forced patina on the carbon steel blade. I have several kukris, one from WW2 and I ordered one that you are working on in this video. But like you I do not like shiny knives. I am a Marine Corps/ Viet Nam Vet and love camo/ olive drab. VN 1966-67.
Link to shirts please 🤣
No shirts yet………
What's the older kukri
Handmade in Nepal. No brand name.
@@ONThree thanks I found it it was made by gk and Co
What kind of kukri is it?
Knives By Hand
How does this one compare to condors?
I personally have never owned a condor. I think Allan said he has broken one.
My comments won't go through for some reason. I wonder if the name of the knife is banned. Recommendation list that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars?
I am not sure why your comments aren't going through. I don't have any recommendations on cheaper kukris from personal experience. Frank offers top notch knives and are some of the most affordable for the quality. I don't get any type of kick back for saying that. I just really like his knives. I will update my comment if I have a friend that can recommend any cheaper kukris. Thanks for watching.
This video is brought to you by Rustoleum.
Got a kydex guy? Lol
While my son was helping his grandmother (my mother in law) harvest some rhubarb with his 8" traditional khukuri we discovered that the acid in the rhubarb put a very pretty patina on the blade.
As for the hockey tape, hard pass for me! I can't stand the gooey nature of the stuff and wouldn't let it near any of my blades!
Funny that you mention that. We just got some rhubarb from our granny and we have a kukri
@@chris1638 give it a shot!
What kinda dog is that
Whatever happened to Alan, he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth?
He’s enjoying his distance from the digital world
