Hello sir! I have a AR10 308 762x51 smith and Wesson 16inch barrel. I have the vortex viper scope 30mm tube. I’m buying the vortex mount. What do you recommend 2-3 inch length?
Man do I need some help I'm trying to get my new Mk12 PRI mod O setup and went with a 30mm tube and 50mm objective and was looking at the Spuhr 1.47" one piece cantilever mount will that clear that scope any help would be much appreciated
I’ve recently built a PRI MK12’ish chambered in 6.5G… My scope is a razor 4.5 x 22 50in objective lens. I do have the PRI straight top rail installed so I deduce I can use individual scope rings. I need to figure out what height scope rings is best for my setup. My butt-stock is a B5 Systems PRS adjustable. I’m thinking I need high mount scope rings.
If I wanted to use this mount on my bolt gun is there any reason I can’t turn the mount around? I ran out of room on the rail and need to mount my scope further back for proper eye relief.
I will be adding the Vortex precision extended mount on my AR platform. Is it best to run a 0 MOA or a 20 MOA mount? The optic i will be mounting is the Vortex HD Gen ll E 1-6x24mm.
Awesome! if you plan on shooting past 600 yards then go with the 20 MOA option. If you are going to be shooting 500 yards and in the 0 MOA mount should be just fine.
what scope mount you recommend for my bamf edge rifle since i never used a lpvo sight before ( i just bought a strike eagle 1-6 +45 angled sight with a viper reddot) cause i am a little bit confused about the 2 inch 3 inch offset thing .thanks for the help
I just bought a new AR15 most cantilevers I’ve seen are 1” 30/40mm is that enough or not enough? I ordered front and rear sights tactical flip. Would it be enough to add a scope & high enough to view down range and zero without issues
If you're getting a riflescope to mount in a cantilever mount, you won't really be able to use any flip up iron sights with it. In order to actually use any iron sights, the mount and scope would need to be removed altogether. The measurements you are seeing "1", 30mm, 34mm, etc" are for the scope tube size. What scope are you going to be putting in the mount? Different scopes will have different tube sizes.
What cantilever mount 2" vs 3" mean? I have a Diamondback Tactical on the way I want to put on my Diamondback AR-10 but I'm not sure what mount. Budget says 3" but if 2" is better, then I will wait until I can afford that one. I am disabled with limited funds and I have to save for months just to have the extra $50. Thank you!
OK, I'm confused. My CMMG AR15 variant is a few months out. I've ordered the Crossfire II with a 40mm objective. Never owned a AR15 style rifle, and the Army didn't put a scope on my M16 back in the day. How high do my rings need to be? And why do I want my scope offset? Does this mean it's not in line with the barrel? Would appreciate any thoughts.
Hey David - for an AR Platform you would want to go with a cantilever style mount as it will get you up to the appropriate height and offset the optic to where you can look through it comfortably. Offsets in this instance are referring to how far the optic is pushed forward. This is done to get the optic at an appropriate place for your eye relief while keeping it mounted above the receiver.
Great info. I am looking to install the Kahles K18i 1x 8-24 30mm on the Colt AR15A4mp with the 20" barrel and M-16 front military Iron sight. Could you recommend the height for the mount I should use to make sure the front iron sight is not on the scope's way? Thank you!
1 inch scope tube, right? Just get a 1 inch one-piece cantilever mount. There are tons of options out there - we even have a few. Any of ours would work and many others out there would, too.

Will the mount you showed in the video raise the optic high enough to clear my barrel mounted A1 fixed front sight? I have a weaver grand slam 2-8x. Thx
How come there is not information on the vortex vanquish 3x9x40 is it the same or better than the diamond back scope? I have and can’t find any information on it
It would depend on the magnification of your optic. If you have an LPVO that goes down to 1x you will most likely notice the front sight at the lowest power, but as you increase magnification you will zoom past it.
Hey Joe - that depends! The difference is how far the optic is being pushed forward in the mount - 2" or 3". Depending on where your cheek weld is and how far back you'd want your optic will determine whether or not a 2" or 3" offset will be better. Odds are the 2" offset would work just fine!
I have the vortex 3 inch cantilever but the scope objective end is so far off the barrel and when bore sighting it comes no where near the laser before the sight maxes out on
I have an ar 15 and just bought both vortex scope and ring mounts. My ring mount is the same in your video. My scope is a 50mm. My question is, will iI have to get riser for my ring mounts or will it clear the gun?
If you have a 1.45" inch height that would work for getting you up high enough. However, rings will not offset the optic like a cantilever mount will which is generally required for an AR platform.
Hey Vortex, I appreciate that y'all answer the viewer questions. Thank you.
Just ordered this with the 1x6 strike Eagle. Can’t wait to install it!!
Heck yeah - that will be an awesome setup! Thanks for choosing Vortex Optics!👊
Thanks for the info, going to order a Strike Eagle here in a few days. I appreciate y'all taking the time to put out these videos.

Any issue with scope placement by ejection port on an AR10? Too far back to steer clear of the ejection port covers my charging handle too much.
My Ar has the A2 front sight post/gas block. Doers this interfere with the scope??

Those numbers refer to how far the optic is being offset. For that setup, I would recommend goin with a 2" offset.
I'm not going to lie, but this was a good video. I gave it a like. Thanks.

It should yes - most one piece cantilever mounts will raise high enough to clear a front sight. Good rule of thumb is 1.4" or higher.
