1.42 is absolute height, 1.54 is the Socom spec for forward mounted clip on night vision devices, just a PSA for the uninitiated.
Who tf is runnin nvg and only using a 1.54? Theres specific mounts for that
Clip on night vision devices such as pvs27 that go after your optics in tandem, not passive shooting with nvgs.
Just the video I’ve been looking for! Thank you!!
Great video with Kitsiderations I hadn't thought of before. Thanks.
Exactly the video I have been looking for!
So many good options… best to train with and for the application at stake that suits you best…
👍
Great video! Love the thought behind using the lpvo for white light and red dot for nvg. I also like the dot up top, and as for mounts I went with the Larue for my razor gen 2 because it is proven, qd, and more light weight then most the more modern options. Thanks for the quality content sir.
The two things holding me back from low mounts (
I have been looking for these lower mounts for a long time and just now finding them
I don't understand why you only have 36k subs.. Your videos are so much better than these guys with millions of subs.. DON'T CHANGE!
Probably due to not shilling out or pay marketing companies. Also, I try to educate not entertain. I suspect that the majority of people want to be entertained not hard truths
I've been stuck on what I already have, which is an ADM Recon mount. I like the idea of the Swampfox HE mounts and/or rings with the integrated 45-degree RMR machining on the scope caps themselves, but I've seen mixed reviews. It's a jungle out there.
Spuhr has a slimmer cantilever mount with spuhr interface that weighs 100g less. It´s called "Hunting Series".
Personally I've found I like 45° off of the optic body. It allows me to have a ~2.2" height red dot with any scope mount height I choose. When rolling the gun slightly to use the dot your cheek is bumped up if using a large cheek weld stock like a sopmod or magpul sls.
Thanks Jon for another awesome video. Do you use your top-mounted red dot as your primary 1x during daytime? What magnification will you typically leave your LPVO's at?
Usually I do. Depends but I'll at least have it at 3x
Usually, guys leave their lpvo on max magnification when using a piggyback rds
What lpvo/ red dot combo would you recommend for both ease of use with nv, but also one that won’t be useless if the battery is dead or fried in it. I was looking at a accupoint and respective RMR due to the lack of battery power, but not being able to dim the dot for fine tuning a zero and not being able to shoot under nods has me second guessing.
So either of the setups I have work with ot without illumination on the LPVOs. I prefer closed emitter on top like I mentioned on the video and why.
+1 for Spuhr. They are heavier but your optic will not move. I run a T1 on top of my razor in my Spuhr. Good setup but not cheap.
With the Spuhr mount, can you run a DBAL A3 at 12 o'clock? Or would it affect the scope view.
It'll be visible unless you have a handguard less than 9" or a taller mount
After 1.5x it is out of the fov
Greta review! Question - what is the advantage of a pistol red dot (Acro P2 etc) over an Aimpoint T2/Trijicon RMR when mounted on a LPVO mount? Cheers
Slightly lighter in weight.
What is that lever on the Vortex 1-10?
What thermal clip on are you using? What magnification on the day optic works well with it?
Looks like an RH25, from iray, best to use 1-3x magnification
I think I have low ears or something lmao cuz with over the ear ear pro I cannot get behind the optic while standing with anything less than a 1.93. The ear pro gets in the way. Looking to buy my first LPVO and mount now and I feel locked into a 1.93 for that reason. I have a 1.93 dot on one rifle and a 2.26 on another and the 1.93 still feels fantastic while prone thankfully.
Thinking about going from a red dot/magnifer to a lpvo with a 12 mount. With the 1.54 height will I run into issues with my scope being blocked by my LAM? It’s a Steiner i2 which is somewhat tall
Yes, on 1x but after that you should be fine when you magnify to 2x or more
@@KineticConsulting thank you sir I appreciate it
I really wish Spuhr would make a 1.7" in there hunting line, I think it would make a killer setup
Try a zero gravity LLC summit 1.7 mount. I have one, they’re nice
@@MilspecPanda dang they look nice but no 12 o'clock RDS mounts 😢
@@nurse-dude true
Isn't the 509T's and other/all Holosun optics supposed to have 1/2 MOA per click adjustments at 100yrds??? Isn't that the same adjustments as the ACRO P2 & the Steiner ETC supposed to have????
Supposed to, it's not always the case
how do you mount your red dot to the spuhr?
Spuhr has rds mounts that attach to them
I'm new here and have a question. Why not use two separate mounts for the same scope/lpvo? They're cheaper, weigh less, and allow more options as to where they can be mounted. So, I'm asking why a unilever instead of two separate ring mounts.
On an AR you don't want separate rings due to placement unless you have a monolithic upper. Placing a ring on the upper and on the rail can cause issues like binding to the scope making it inoperable. That's why you use both a single mount and a cantilever mount (the one that hangs forward slightly)
Seems like you could just run a .25” cheek riser with a 1.54 mount and effectively create the same optic heights ya? Just different HOB
Wait a minute, you're telling me I should define what I want the rifle to be able to do and then set the rifle up to accomplish that task?
I've been doing this all wrong...
Closed emitter.....This is the way.
we are built different. that ultra low mount wouldnt be useable for me. I dont even like absolute mounts anymore. feel like I have a eyeball weld instead of a cheekweld. 1.93+ all the things.
Adm delta 1.93 🎉
Great for a single optic gamer rifle 👍🏼
@@HotelBravo556 uhh what?..
How do you like the adm 1.93? Looking at the recon and trying to decide between the 1.64 and 1.93
push LPVO !
Why is it when I’m looking for this spuhr mount I can’t find it at all, but when I finally do I change my mind and can’t find anyone to buy it 😂😂😂
400 plus for a mount is fn ridiculous. Quality kit no doubt but wholly shit are they pricy.
WAY TO SHORT YOU HAVE TO SHOVE YOU CHEEK INTO THE STOCK! 😬
Stop yelling
just buy a mount from a reputable manufacturer.
