    In case you are trying to find these things in Keyboard Customizations, it's not super intuitive. Here's what to search for in Keyboard Customization:
    - Start to Playhead (Ripple Delete Left)
    - End to Playhead (Ripple Delete Right)
    - Razor (Cut)
    - Ripple Delete (Select a clip, then delete it and move everything over)
    Hope this helps!

      Hey Jason I loved your video! Quick question. I am using Mac for davinci and I can't seem to get the 'add keyframe' shortcut to work. Any recommendations? I just want to be able to quickly add zoom in and zoom out keyframes, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

    Nice, I didn't know about the J, K, L keys. One thing I've come across when using the delete key (ripple delete) is sometimes it will effect audio tracks or other video tracks. I find that locking the tracks makes it easier, at least for me, when I use the delete key (ripple delete). When the ripple delete does too much ripple deleting Ctrl-Z is my best friend.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  2 года назад +4

      I hear that! For me are usually turn off the auto track selectors on the audio tracks so I don’t ripple delete them an accident. But like in the track works just as well. I do love some Ctrl Z as well. 😜

    i had a lot of trouble with that auto track selector, and i learned why and how. i think that deserves a separate video, i would do one myself i have a lot of ideas, but u are established u have a lot of people learning from you, this would be great . ofcourse you learn by bumping into problems and trying to resolve them but sometimes ppl are in a hurry want to get a simple thing done and that caused me for example a lot of problems. i use a lot of shortcuts just enabling and disabling that auto track and it works. :)D i'm just saying , but for me it was frustrating at first when i didnt know what and how it does things haha

    Guide to learning every shortcut to every program
    Step 1: Learn 1 shortcut, more commonly used the better but can be any.
    Step 2: calculate the total time saved using that 1 short cut
    step 3: Learn another shortcut using the time saved

    Hi. I can understand what you are talking about, but I don't know how to change my keyboard customized in Davinci resolve setting.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  Год назад +1

      HI! You have to go into the DaVinci Resolve menu, open keyboard customizations. Then on the bottom right you can search for the command you want and click where it says 'keystroke' and assign it to anything you want. Hope this helps!

    Hi, thank you for a video. I have a macbook and i found the shortcut about ripple delete left/right in my Keybord Customization but didn't work. I'm in edit page and i positioned redbar on poit that i woud cut but when i press the button combination nothing is happening. Where am I doing wrong? thank you!

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  6 месяцев назад

      You can double check the keyboard shortcuts by going to the DaVinci Resolve menu at the top left, then go to Keyboard customization, then search for ripple delete and see if the shortcut is mapped properly.

      @@JasonYadlovski Thank you for the answer. I understood why. My keyboard is different from Davinci Resolve. The mapping or layout is different. Because of that, I cannot do the key combination as set by Davinci Resolve. In fact, when I open the keyboard configuration and try the key combination, I don't see evidence of which key I pressed because the keyboard layout is different. I have to change the shortcut configuration.

    What's the difference between the "Razor" shortcut and "Split clip". Some people recommend the Razor (not Blade) and others the "Split clip" command. I did't see a difference, but on the other hand: Why would there be two different commands for the same thing, there must be something different, right?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  7 месяцев назад +1

      Great question, I never thought about it. I don’t think it really matters, in my mind they do the same thing. 😜 I have a keyboard shortcut mapped to the razor tool, and it just makes the cut.

      The default to replace a clip on the timeline is F10. F9 will insert a clip.

    great video the only problem i ran into is that is seems like every single key is already assigned to something else. I really want that Ripple delete Left shortcut but every key I tried assigning was already assigned and i don't want to assign a combination of keys for one action.

    is there a way so save selected clip or a portion of a clip to favorites like in FCP by pressing F so it populates that FAVs folder, just don't want to deal with those keywords it takes way longer

      You can just set in/out points on a clip, then drag it to a new bin.

    Jason - Something been puzzling me for some time. Why, in Fairlight, when I have 1 track with no effects on either the track or the bus, is the volume lower on the bus? The track is hitting red and the bus is in the yellow, for example. TIA

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  2 года назад

      Hey Harold, I just tried that same thing and both meters match perfectly for me. Note that the color ranges are different between the bus and the track, but the actual dB level are the same....at least for me.

      @haroldmorganTulsa 2 года назад

      @@JasonYadlovski Looked at it again. It looks like the levels are the same but the track is hitting red while the bus is still yellow. Could this be something to do with the target loudness level? Why do you think the color ranges would be different?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  2 года назад +1

      In case you are trying to find these things in Keyboard Customizations, it's not super intuitive. Here's what to search for in Keyboard Customization:
      - Start to Playhead (Ripple Delete Left)
      - End to Playhead (Ripple Delete Right)
      - Razor (Cut)
      - Ripple Delete (Select a clip, then delete it and move everything over)
      Hope this helps!

    Can you disable auto track selector completely? Ive been working on a project with like 10 video layers and its driving me insane.. its always screwing things up by selecting other layers for what seems no reason

      Select Clips Backwards on this Track
      Select Clips Backwards on All Tracks
      Select Clips Forward on this Track
