Hope this helps.
Me too Adam, it's such a simple concept but so powerful! I hate to say it but I probably edited for about 10 years before I learned what it was and made use of it.
Thanks for these tips! I have been an editor for over 20 years on various NLE's and I have found in Resolve that I have become a bit of a lazy click and drag guy. I will be adding most of these tips into my workflow for sure.
Wow! I love those shortcuts especially Trim Start/End 😍 I wasted a lot of time manually cutting using blade and moving clips to remove gaps. Thank you!
You’re welcome Peter. It is really a confusing thing when you thnk about it, especially since it’s so closely related to a match frame. Great to hear this helped.
@@CreativeVideoTips yeah. It kept nibbling away at the shot in the timeline. It seems to be a tool that could do with a few more options, for example if you could remove or disable the middle of a clip.
Thanks a lot! I've been working professionally with the Adobe suite for 11 years and I'm on the edge of switching to Resolve for almost 2 years now. After watching your videos especially, I feel like I'm the closest to switching to Resolve ever.
Thanks, Erik - it's great to hear some of these tutorials have been helpful to understand how you can do some of the same things from Premiere over in Resolve. Some things are even easier in Resolve. I'll tell you the one thing that still has me opening premiere each week for a task is to do speech to text automatically. I hope this is something that Blackmagic eventually integrates into Resolve. But for everything else I'm much happier to use Resolve and or Final Cut depending on the project.
@@CreativeVideoTips Yeah, they really did a nice job with the whole new captions section. The old one was really bad though. The only thing that could be missing from my Premiere workflow is a quick way of replacing clips from my source window or bin by dragging with alt or alt+shift on the old clip, to keep the same clip length and attributes/effects in the timeline. What would your way to to go be in Resolve for this? I have been searching online for solutions, but I mostly find other Premiere users asking for the same question. I also really have to get use to enabling or disabling the trim mode, but that's a matter of time I suppose.
@@HaunterNL I would use replace edit for this (F11 is the default) - first mark your clip i/o with x on the timeline and then from your source hit F11 to do a "replace". In this video I talk about using replace edit mostly for sound effects syncing because that's how I mostly use it - but I'm pretty sure it will do what you are talking about with alt shift in premiere. Let me know if that's it.
Haha I love that dude. I appreciate the kind words, this channel does assume you have some experience editing already and I always try to cut to the chase. Thanks for watching.
For complete beginners like me in Resolve, is sooo useful to watch videos with tips you choose some tips because It's like some playlist witch I cant remember. And learning is so much quicker. Thaks for content
I have watched this video when it first came out, it was good then but i needed to recall what to do again (because there is so much to learn.) I watched this video again this morning ( months later) and Chadwick this is Fantastic. These little gems are probably second nature to so many but for me, this is like getting in a Tesla for the first time and going for a ride.
That Swap & Shuffle Edit just changed my life.. it's the closest thing to the magnetic timeline in FCP... (far from being as efficient... but better than nothing for someone trying to get over his FCP addiction)
Wow! Awesome video, Chadwick! I'm going to need to bookmark this video as there were so many useful shortcuts and tips there's no way I'm going to remember them all!
