This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. It blows my mind that the caterpillar spins its cocoon on the wasps, then protects it until it starves to death. That the wasps' venom has that much control over its host to reprogram its brain and literally enslave it is as mysterious to me as quantum physics or aliens or ghosts.

Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Oh this is nothing compared to the full glory of the horrific things mother nature has to offer, not to mention how the universe works.
IF there is a god, and its creation is a reflection of how it thinks, we should all be very, very afraid.
The universe reveals to us, once you start to understand it even in the smallest ways, you realise that our reality is a grotesque mockery of how human logic would have us picture it. What it says about its maker if there is one, is that its utterly alien to us, and not at all the loving father who made us in its image, as some holy books would claim.

There's actually a type of pea plant that sends out pheromones that causes nearby plants of that species to doing the same thing and attracting parasitoids because they can tell when a caterpillar is munching on their leaves.

Well two did, but one started spinning a silk that then came a live with tiny bodies erupting from it, it freaked me out so much! I removed the two normal caterpillars and killed the one with all the creepy worms coming from it. Seeing this, I'm glad I did, it killed the wasps and ended the caterpillars suffering. The other two hatched out into beautiful white butterflies.

That's already happened a couple of times now, and we've seen the negative effects with little to no upsides.
This is just like the mosquito argument, why don't we just obliterate the mosquitos? For the arguments I've shown, as other animals would go extinct because of those stupid actions. Also, you're being both ironic and moronic because not only are you being, at least to a majority of the population, immoral by these actions of extinction, but you're being moronic as you think people would either fully agree with you, of support your claims by any means of rationality, which I can deduce there is 0% from you.

I cannot persuade myself that a beneficent and omnipotent God would have designedly created parasitic wasps with the express intention of their feeding within the living bodies of Caterpillars.

And God also created the *pelican* who swallows young birds whole and let stomach acid and suffocation kill them slowly. If the pelican doesn't eat it itself it will regurgitate the bird so that its own chicks can peck the stomach acid covered bird to death.
This creature of God can roam free but even the kindest unbelieving human will be tortured in hell forever.

Charlie boy is a bit old school. Has some good views on certain things.. however he is not a complete authority on everything.. infact a frenchy beat him to the punch with a much better thesis anyway and as other things are discovered.. eg knowledgenuts.com/2013/11/23/insects-dont-feel-pain/ caterpillars and other insects will carry on with their routine even while being eaten.. well then it makes the comment you posted, completely and utterly redundant :P :)

geirtwo yes of course, pelican may kill that young birds maybe one in a day, but that is human who capture other hundred, thousand, or even more other human, and sell them as slaves....so that other human can do anything to them

How in the living fuck does that thing know how to leave the vital organs alone until the right moment? How the fuck does it even know what the vital organs are? How the hell do they know when it's time to release the paralyzing chemicals? Then after all that.. it possesses the caterpillar to guard them UNTIL IT STARVES TO DEATH?!!? No wonder these things work better than bug sprays

    • @bs-wx5km

how do babies know how to breathe and blink? they just developed with the knowledge just like the parasites develope with the knowledge of what to do to not kill the caterpillar

as for knowing which organs are vital, they probably don't. They probably just have certain behaviors that do not harm it's vital organs, but allow for it to gain nutrients from the caterpillar's blood. In terms of synchronizing their escape from the caterpillar, the larvae probably release some sort of hormone/chemical signal to each other that flows around in the blood of the caterpillar. The first larvae to reach maturity will probably do this, as they each probably have the same growth rate since they drink from the same blood, and the other larvae will pick up the chemical signals/hormones, triggering their escape behaviors (paralysis + using teeth to get out).
As far as taking over the caterpillar's brain, I don't know.
