These little creatures have been a part of so many studies and research on genetics from chromosomal theory of inheritance to gene mapping studies and from studies on criss cross inheritance of genes to discovery and study of polytene chromosomes. As a student of agriculture, I can confidently say there is no chance of entomophagic fungi undergoing a zoonotic event to humans. Parasitoids like these fungi are highly specific in targets, only being able to attack one species or genus. To mutate to attack humans would require many mutations that would reduce that fungus' fitness. The specificity of fungal parasitoids also means any epidemics can be contained.
What’s odd about this is that bugs are often perceived as the base level of creepiness, but the idea of something that infects the already creepy thing is bizarre.
