    6 people FULL TIME on a 45 foot cat is impressive. But you RVed for a few years before, so everyone is used to being in close quarters with limited storage options. Does the boat have more or less space than your RV? Do you access the engines under the aft beds, or is it a separate hatch near the sugar scoops?

    • @everydaysaturday
      @everydaysaturday  Год назад +1

      It’s WAYYYYYYY more space than any RV we could own. Gotta count all the outside living space too for people to spread out. Plan more privacy with bedrooms and stuff. Way more storage too. Our boat is actually closer to 46’ long but it’s also a foot wider than most 45ft cats at 26ft wide. Makes a big difference in space. engines have their own space above the sugar scoops accessed with a large hatch on deck. i can stand in them and work on the engines.

      Thanks for watching Philip. Yes am very very aware of the bulkhead saga and Colin’s whistle blow on the whole thing. Also every catamaran I’ve ever been on creaks and has noises that they make with the incredible amount of flex that takes place. Leopard 48. Fountain Pajot Helia 44 2019 Leopard 45. They all creak when in blue water conditions. A lot of it is just the wood work. Our boats reinforcement was done as we were buying it. Actually got to go watch the process. It’s been a fantastic boat so far for our 7,000+ nautical miles with her.

    Our family has considered this with great interest. My husband is an experienced sailor. We have never sailed as a family. He’s also good at fixing things. I am a teacher in the speech therapist. We just got done building our dream home three years ago on a dream property. It takes a lot of work and it puts a big strain on us. We feel like there has to be something different. We were wondering how your family is adjusting from everybody’s point of you, a breakdown of your cost, and how homeschooling is doing? Maybe we will see this in future videos. We wish you the best of luck!

    Amazing boat! First video of your channel that I watch. Wish I could afford a boat like that. I've been binge watching Jadyn's channel and she made a video about how everybody can afford this life but for 95% of the population sadly ~500 thousands US dollar, specially cash, is not even thinkable. I reserved a "Introduction to sailing (35' sloop)" class next week with the lady, hopefully a small 30-35' sloop next year would be affordable. Maybe we'll see each other in a couple years in the Caribbean🤪

      Hey Mike! Thanks so much for watching and the comment! It’s definitely not too big…but a side or so down wouldn’t be too small either if that makes sense. I’d suggest an “owners version” though instead of our “charter version” . It’s a great boat and very easy to manage short handed. I’ve pretty much figured out how to single hand all the sailing. Lots of 450 owners out there who are couples. And yah we’re safe! Boats in Virginia right now. :)

    This boat is beautiful, so airy and light. Beautiful islands to visit. My concern is your daughters. I worry that they are missing all the "fun" things in high school, like Homecoming and Prom dances. Making girlfriends and all that goes with it. Meeting boys, not dating so much, but just friends. My daughter is 31 years old and her best friends are from 7th grade and college. Since you move around, I wonder how they are doing regarding friends and sleepovers and Friday night football games, all the things you do in high school. I feel they are missing out on a huge part of life. But, my best wishes to you guys.

    • @everydaysaturday
      @everydaysaturday  Год назад +1

      Such a great and genuine comment. Thank you! Our 17 year old daughter recently started a RUclips channel where she has talked about how sailing full time is from a teenagers perspective. I’ll link below. But while you’re right they will miss out on many “normal” land things…they are gaining many extraordinary experiences, cultures, education, things that will shape their life in such a unique way that they never would have gotten with those. So it’s kinda a trade off. But from our experience watching other people live this life with their kids over the years it enriches their lives in incredible ways. Not to mention the extra time spent with family…the most important relationships/and the ones we’ll have the longest. Thanks again. ruclips.net/video/4Chxm4iB-c8/видео.html

  • @TheEdge92
    @TheEdge92 4 месяца назад +1

    Hey there! How is sailing performance on this generation of Lagoons? Two years ago I sailed the 2019 450F and it was extremely unpleasant to sail. The rudder was way too undersized, wrong positioned(in front of prop. the interieur architects pushed the realignment of the engine room through so they could prioritize their interior plans, sacrificing steering performance for livability. That tells you everything about their priorities. No wonder people say they build the boat around the curtains. Which is a bummer as someone who loves sailing) that in combination with extremely wide hulls(=low performance in comparison to slim hulls) it resulted in the boat being effectively unable to be steered by hand because it was always going to the side. You couldn't steer straight ahead. To go straight you had to run the autopilot. As someone who loves the sailing side of cruising this was very disappointing to say the least. So what is your experience with this gen?

    • @everydaysaturday
      @everydaysaturday  3 месяца назад +1

      Probably similar as far as steering. It’s really the same boat they built from 2011-2022. But being that it’s our full time home we are happy to sacrifice sailing performance for the comfort and livability that it offers. And we only steer by hand when entering or leaving an anchorage then it’s straight to the autopilot. We’ve been really happy with the boat for our needs. The other thing with steering…these boats are way over canvased. We’ve found she actually sails better and more balanced when we reef early.

    • @TheEdge92
      @TheEdge92 2 месяца назад

      @@everydaysaturday That's interesting with the reefing. Gotta try that with the next charter vacation. But yeah, I can actually see how one will going to make sacrifices there. Colin actually got me sold on fly bridges and if you're on a budget or do not want to spend way more then Lagoon is kinda the way to go. I actually think now that it is probably kinda very important to have different/more spaces to spread out to, espacially on long passages. Like on the Windelo for example. I easily see you ending up there on passages being "stuck" with up to 8 people in one ca15sqm room for weeks and weeks. Sailing on passage is intimate enough to be a possible strain on everybody when things get heated, no need to make it harder by reducing the space to one room(if raining like hell). Like shit happens, you argue and all you can go to is you bunk in the more uncomfortable moving lower areas of the boat. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I unfortunately didn't hat the opportunity to do a passage yet.

      It was a $400,000 home when we bought it. Then sold it 2 years later for $800,000. Not our fault the housing market exploded 😂. The travel trailer we rented out our house which more than covered the payment on the RV loan we had. And the boat we paid cash for after selling our house. We are currently considering doing this. Our daughters are 14 & 18 the 14yr old is homeschooling online. How have your daughters adjusted to being away from friends ?

      Good for the most part. But one is an introvert and does pretty well on her own. The other is an extreme extrovert and always looking for fun/super social (our oldest). Shes went through a roller coaster of emotions but came out the other side really appreciating the opportunity and what we are doing. Check her RUclips channel “Jadyn Morse” to see her perspective. Shes got some REALLY good content.

    Do you guys run the AC?

    • @everydaysaturday
      @everydaysaturday  2 года назад +1

      Hey! Yah we do sometimes. It has to be pretty hot though and no sea breeze. There’s usually a nice breeze that cools things down. We also use to have to run our generator in order to run the AC but now I set things up so we can run a couple AC’s off the solar.

    What do you do with your trash?

      Yo Dan! Anything perishable we feed the fish. The rest we store in a locker until we get to the next port/city with trash services.

    How do u steer when you guys are all sleeping?

    • @everydaysaturday
      @everydaysaturday  Год назад

      If we do overnights we always have someone on night watch. We do couple hour rotations with us and 2-3 of our older kids. But that said our autopilot does all the steering.

    Kinda dumb question, i wonder how your kids get in school during long sailling? Are they got online class or something like home schooling?

    • @everydaysaturday
      @everydaysaturday  Год назад +1

      The girls are online and the boys are homeschool but it’s all flexible (no set times they have to login) so often on passages we’ll give them the time off and they catch up when they get there. But we haven’t crossed any major oceans or anything at this point so 4-6 days has been the longest.

    This is not a boat, it’s a million dollar yacht. Anyone would love to live like this but not many can afford it

      Maybe when it was brand new. But it’s a 2013 now! Definitely wasn’t a million dollars for us. Kinda a negative way to look at things isn’t it?
