    Bought my '06 50th anniversary limited edition brand new, still have it 16 years later and love it. Don't want any other bike, she's modded the way I want and is in showroom condition. She'll be coming out of storage in the next few weeks hopefully, winter SUCKS

    I have an 01 in blue, brought it brand new in 02 after it was reduced at dealers when the 02's arrived, its been treated to all the "must haves" of the period Ohlins rear shock, steering damper and fork internals, full Arrow system with Factory pro jet kit and dyno time to set it up, and a set of BST carbon fibre wheels, (all the original bits safely tucked away). Due to owning several bikes and a serious illness that saw me off bike for 5 years, its only got 12,000 Km (about 6000 miles) on it, and is MINT. Also have its Great Great Great Grandad, an 87 FZR1000, plus an 86 GSX-R1100 slabbie. :-)

      @@BikesofRye Years ago, about 2005, me and a friend decided to buy an "investment" bike. We'd watched how bikes like the green framed Ducati SS had gone from "if i really wanted, and ate baked beans only for a few years i could buy one" to 75,000 NZD!!!. We decided on the awesome Japanese homologation specials from the late 80s/90s because A: they are just awesome.
      And B: (except possibly the RC30, which was already starting to climb in price fast),
      They were affordable. He imported a RVF750 RC45 from Australia, and i, by the grace of some motorcycle god, walked into my small local dealer and found a OW01 sitting there for only 10,000 NZD (about 5000 pounds)
      Long story short, he still has the RVF and its climbed ridiculously in value, and i sold the OW01 after about 2 years. Its now in the US and the guy that bought it hunted down EVERY factory kit part from the race kit catalogue and restored it. The RVF is still stock because, The price of HRC kit parts is insane, IF you can find them, and, unlike the RC30 you can't just put one piece of a race kit on and get noticeable results. The kit pistons don't work properly without the kit cam, which don't work without the kit ECU, which doesn't work without all of the above plus the kit airbox and exhaust and on and on. Anyway, point of this ramble is, if you have a bike you love, try not to sell it and keep it forever. :-))

      @@uhtred7860 I am very keen to look into buying a bike as in investment and just general look at! We actually have an RD350LC in the family. My Dad owned it since 1996ish and is just going through a restoration. Will aim to ride and review it on the channel once it is ready

    How’s it going Rye 👍🏻. I was never a big R1 fan strangely enough until the 2015 was launched. Don’t get me wrong my opinions have definitely changed over the years and i look back now to the 2008 CP4 launch and wonder what was up with me as it really is a great bike. I was so close to pulling the trigger on a 2018 R1 Raven Edition bk in 2019 just before i changed my mind and went with my RSV4....... Still no regrets!! But i am fully converted now im officially an R1 fan 💙

      Good to hear bro yeah I always loved the look of the original R1 and the impact it had. It was before I could even ride as I was too young but you just knew it was the king. I am still to have a go on one myself

    Owned a 99, 01 and 03 and then got out before I killed myself. I'd love to buy a new one just to set in my living room.

      I know a guy who bought one of the very last TZ 250 race bikes from Yamaha, its an 09, still un painted in the gloss white it came in, came with a comprehensive spares kit and has never even been started. It sits in his lounge as a gorgeous ornament. Its now worth considerably more than what he paid for it, but i don't know how he can resist the urge to, at least, fire it up, even once :-))

      @Juls Yeah, the trouble with letting multi cylinder 2 strokes sit without running for any length of time is one exhaust port is always uncovered, allowing air to get into the crankcase, Being in his house probably means the air isn't cold and damp (he also has exhaust bungs in place) but still not optimal. Plus the crank seals can harden as well, I would be firing that baby up once a month, Motul fully synth 2T smells better than incense, so no need to take it out the lounge to start it😆😆

    The twin motor on the xtz 750 had a box like that, the crank is sat lower

    2003 model went Electronic fuel injection you missed all bar three factory specials the 04 06 the greatest generation only when all the excess weight is reduced to 1:1

      Hey thanks sure yeah was all being planned and was in discussion with dealers until another lockdown put a stop to it - please keep an eye out there will be plenty this year once we are free 🙏🏼

    Please do a detailed video on the riding gears and the new motorcycle airbag technologies..👍 and will you get a steering damper for the street triple rs ?🤔🤔

    Am I an old fart or is general motorcycle design after 2014/15 just.. bad? I bought a 2015 Daytona only to sell it after a month. At 193 cms tall, that bike was just way too small for me to ride properly. Same thing with the R1 I reckon. I miss the BIG old bikes of the 90s. Sigh.

    GOD THE 2009 GEN R1, WAS THE UGLIEST BIKE EVER ... YAMAHA DROPPED THE BALL DESIGN WISE. . GOT DAMN THAT R1 WAS UGLY , I HATED THEM
