I’ve been watching you for over a decade and just wanted to say, I’m so impressed with how beautifully and maturely you’re handling this whole situation. I can’t imagine going through what you’re going through with millions of people judging your every move. I’m sure your girls will be so proud of how you handled all this once they’re old enough to watch these vids and understand them. It’s honestly refreshing to see a RUclipsr I’ve followed since I was a teen grow and mature in a healthy way! Best of luck to you and your fam this holiday season 🤍

Thank you for being so respectful of your daughters’ experiences and feelings. Especially with the last question… my father told me that he did not love my mother despite them being married when they decided to have a baby. It really made me feel like I was a mistake and that I was created out of obligation instead of love. I have healed and moved past that, but it really did affect me for a long time. I wish my dad cared about me the way you care about your girls. Good on you for being a good role model and protector for them!

My mom & dad got divorced whenever I was 6 or 7. Whenever I got in my 20's my mom gave me her engagement ring from my dad. I love having it, but I was always the biggest daddy's girl and he passed away whenever I was 17. So I would definitely hold on to it for your girls just in case.

Similarly, my parents separated when I was an adult and I don’t have a relationship with my father anymore, but my mom gave me her wedding band and I love wearing and having it, being able to remember the happy memories of my family when things were good. I think holding onto it to give to her girls when they’re older is a really special idea.

3:22 it absolutely was not always a choice to get divorced. “No fault divorce” which means you want a divorce for personal reasons not bc of cheating or something wasn’t legal until 1969 (in California). Women couldn’t even petition a divorce AT ALL until 1937. (All of this is for USA)

Just in case Aspyn reads this I just wanted to share a different perspective. Ik that a lot of parents feel guilty about getting a divorce or feel pressured to stay in relationships bc they are afraid it will impact the kids. PERSONALLY when my parents divorced (and they definitely do not like each other haha) I did not think it was the worst feeling. It was annoying/ uncomfortable, and sometimes a little sad, but definitely not the worst feeling I've experienced. Even as a child I understood that it was better for my parents to be apart. Ik that's not everyone's experience, but I hope it shows that its not always the case that children are super negatively impacted by their parent's divorce (even if they don't get along).

I'm also 28, and I used to be scared that my life would be over by 30. That I should be married and having kids by then and have my life wrapped up, but I realized that life is only beginning. If I'm healthy and lucky, I still have about 60 years to live. Seeing you recover after divorce helps a lot in this process because it shows me that I'm right to think that and that life can be heard, but there's a lot to enjoy still. And I say that coming from a totally different life experience than yours, but I think in general we're all here to be as happy as possible and have a good life.

In Wisconsin you can get divorced basically for free. It takes alot of work. And you can do all your own paperwork. My side hustle is helping people rep themselves. I'm NOT an attorney but I can help people and I do it for extremely cheap. Most of the time it's women with special needs children.

I filed for divorce in Utah after years of abuse. we had one child together. Because I was a stay at home mom/part time CNA, I was able to get a financial waiver and they covered all of the divorce costs. For anyone who may be in the same position see if that’s an option. However, I also did not get a lawyer I did it straight through the court. So that may be an option in other states as well. I’m so sorry for this happening. But it sounds like it was the best thing for you to do.
Since my divorce I found an amazing man. We’ve been together 12 years, we have 4 children together, we had 2 boys (together) and a little girl, who we lost at 6 days old to SIDS in 2020, then we had our rainbow baby, another boy, in September of 2022. Also his son from another relationship and my son from that horrible marriage. So we lost our only little girl.. all of this to say, we have been through hell and back more times than one, and we are still going strong. As strong as we can.
You’ll find that one, you’re still so young and I appreciate the way you are about your daughter’s privacy and what you say.

my parents divorced and my mom kept her ring and gave it to me - I do kind of feel like the ring has bad energy for *me* so I’m going to sell it and do a nice kitchen renovation. From all the pain and stride that came with that time - it is really nice that I get that now as an adult. Keep the ring and give it to the girls when they’re older so they can decide what they want to do with it - it’s very cathartic and healing in my experience❤

I got married young. It didn't last long. Everyone always asks if I will again and my answer is always "facebook doesn't even need to know my relationship status. The government damn sure doesn't." My current relationship, we have kids, the one I can see spending the rest of my life with, we both went into it knowing neither ever wanted to actually marry again and it works for us. I did just tell him though I want a ring minus the wedding.🤣

My divorce was “easy” since we didn’t own property together nor have/had children together. I processed everything on my own, took multiple trip to city hall . I’m located in CA and it cost me about $500 to have it done. The cost for it definitely depends on what state you’re locating, if you have property together, own vehicles together and have kids. It can easily add up

I had a similar experience to Aspen's. Although I didn't have children with my spouse, I was in a long-term relationship with my first boyfriend, who later became my first fiancé. I felt like I was the one putting in all the effort, but fortunately, my parents helped me see him for who he was. It's taken me over five years to move on, and I agree with Aspen that the end of a relationship isn't the end. Being single and rediscovering yourself is incredibly liberating.

Hi everyone!! Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps others! I was 25 when I got a divorce. I have 2 kids and we did everything on our own without getting lawyers involved in order to save money! I’m sure every state is different but I was able to file the divorce myself through the court system and it was about $250 I think for me to do that! We did a separation agreement to document child support and schedules with custody and we take that to be notarized every year to update it. Although it is extremely challenging, we have a great co parenting relationship for our kids sake! I understand this is not the case for everyone but wanted to share!

You are correct…there was a time in our Country’s not too distant past that women barely had any choice, especially around divorce. I grew up in the 70/80’s & it was shameful & frowned upon in our town if any woman instigated divorce. In fact, I have family who would not leave their abusive spouse b/c their church told them divorce is sinful & she didn’t have any financial stability. Thank you for acknowledging this!! Some people still unfortunately perpetuate those closed minded beliefs & stereotypes so it is important to remember our history. Best of luck to you & your girls!!

I gave my wedding ring to my daughter and she treasures it. It never comes off her finger, so it might be equally sentimental to one of your daughters when they are older.

I know you’ve said your relationship was rocky for a while but was Parker ‘blind sided’ when you brought up divorce? I feel like men are clueless when women check out and they think it’s fine 🙄

I think one day you might view marriage differently with time, healing and the right partner. My dad is a lot like you, when he divorced my mom he swore he would never get married again but now 4 years later he would consider it again if he might the right woman (he is also 60 so age plays a role in that) in general you do you but don’t be fearful if you find yourself in a situation where you want to do that again
