This disc is made to slow you down, leave the "NOISE" behind and drift off into a world of peace and beauty. The music paints the picture of the name it was given............not what many Nightwish fans will really like but a masterpiece to those who love and appreciate beautiful "MUSIC" in any form
I'm from Finland and I can hear and feel Finnish nature on this. I can imagine season, weather temperature and beauty of different regions of Finland to this.
Human and nature. Human nature. Human in nature, as part of it. Many meanings in the album title.
I love music like this so much that it makes me love Nightwish even more now than I ever did before! I have a very eclectic taste in music, but Nightwish has been a favorite since I was a teenager and I first heard 10th Man Down in a music video. I don't think I could ever stop listening to them!
True fans not just love them for the hard metal or voice of the Queen... you love the songwriting, the whole fucking magical rollercoaster ride or you don't. This are few of the rare times things can be black&white!
You know, I spent the last 17 years or so of my life wishing Tuomas straight up wrote a symphony, and I finally got my wish
Try Life and Time of Scrooge McDuck from Tuomas
When you first heard the Nightwish song, did you think a new world would open up before you?
It's not a band ... it's much more. Indescribable.
Don’t worry about crying, we all cry while listening this masterpiece.
I cry everytime and I 'm not ashamed anymore :)
Is it me, or is this whole disc a mere reminder of how awesomely majestic our universe is, and our place in it?
Ad Astra breaks me every time
@@Titoichi1986 me too..❤
@@isaiahwelch8066 Nope, you are not alone.... this album for me can be described by one word.... balance. It is so well-rounded, like the universe.
When is Mr Holopainens title being officially changed to a composer tho? He's up there with Mozart and the boys
Tuomas Holopainen is a musical polymath. A true genius. This is an exquisite masterpiece - heartbreakingly beautiful.
Btw, Nightwish have already a movie, called Imaginaerum :) But thank you for this reaction! :) It was very nice to watch.
As you will remember, Ad Astra was released as a single ahead of the Album launch. I listened to it for one of the very first times from my mobile phone, while i was driving the ambulance back to base, in the early days of total COVID 19 lockdown here in Italy. Driving past silent homes decorated with children' drawings, italian flags and "all will be well" messages. It was powerful. It really was.
Put on the earphones... close my eyes...Start a magical wonderful journey through the forest . fairies come with me and get me to a beautiful cliff.. there's a smooth wind and the sound of the sea... Smell like humidity ... Trees... Birds passing by while a stunning sunset is in front of you... The music stops... I come back to my bed and I realize I am crying. I want to go back . ❤️ This is the Nightwish effect . Tuomas is a Genius! .. great reaction! 😊
I know what you mean.
I have two places I go to, when I listen to Disc 2: Ireland, and the vista showing Mount Everest.
Makes me appreciate this wonderful Pale Blue Dot we live on.
I really hope Nightwish do this live, outdoors, with a full orchestra and choir, light show, pyros, the works...
They sometimes do one of these "lyricless" type songs live. And I think with the reception they are getting to the new album, I'm positive they will play everything from disc 1 and 2.
The hole album Human Nature with a full symphonic orchestra and choir would be great. The complete album is suitable for that.
Tuomás is a F...****. ing genius broo
Indeed as GREAT in his domain as Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins and Laurence Krauss are in their respective fields. We all are lucky to be his contemporaries. History books will have him, and his bandmates, in them one day
The 1st cd to wake up with, the 2nd cd to relax and go to sleep...so beautiful 😎
Indeed, best listened when in lazy chair, with a good full range speakers(+subwoofers) or headphones. Gapless player recommended so its one big song without "cliches" between track changes...you can really fall deep while listening 😌
I am glad that you really appreciate this kind of music, few nightwish fans found this second album like an insult, like a ego part of Tuomas or something like that, believe me some few nightwish fans can be a real pain in the ass, really happy to see your reaction to this masterpiece 🤘
This one is truly a piece of ART 😍
The lady who speaks in Vista & Ad Astra is Geraldine James, British actress
Quote in Vista is by George Gordon Byron - Lord Byron from Childe Harold's Pilgrimage
Quote in Ad Astra is by Carl Sagan from Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
The whole Ad Astra lasts 4 minutes and 42 seconds on album and this video version is shortened for more than a minute, so check out the whole one when you have time 😉
In Quiet As The Snow you can hear "Here comes the snow" in multiple languanges
Title of this whole piece is part of quote by Leonardo da Vinci from The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci edited by Jean Paul Richter (1880):
"Painting is concerned with all the 10 attributes of sight; which are:-Darkness, Light, Solidity and Colour, Form and Position, Distance and Propinquity, Motion and Rest. This little work of mine will be a tissue [of the studies] of these attributes, reminding the painter of the rules and methods by which he should use his art to imitate all the works of Nature which adorn the world."
Ivana, thank you for what you said.
As I have said elsewhere, I have learned more from this album about non-musical things than I thought possible. And once you reach a certain point, I came to realize: We live in a one-of-a-kind, awe-inspiring and gloriously majestic Pale Blue Dot...a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.
Because this is here. This is home.
This is us.
Mr. Rock N Roll: "You should make a movie!"
Nightwish: "Bro, we got you. We already did." :D
18:17 Just a quick correction. Troy doesn't use bagpipes. The instrument is called uilleann pipes. Well, I guess they are bagpipes because they're like the Irish cousin to the bagpipes. The uilleann pipes have a much sweeter sound than the Scottish bagpipes.
I love the melody that starts at 20:27. I don't know why but I absolutely love it. I find myself humming it multiple times during the day. I love it on piano, I love it through Troy's pipes, and I love Floor singing it during Ad Astra!
Riiight?! I was in awe when I first heard that melody in Ad Astra. So glad there was even more of it 😊
When are you doing The Life and times of Scrooge Mcduck 😇
And AURI
Yeah that album is so beautiful
Oh boy, this album is clearly something, I hope his body is ready for this...!
I feel like The Last Sled is gonna destroy him more than Shoemaker did
The green is my absolute favorite part. It makes me cry everytime and it feels like it portrays the heartbeat of a peaceful Earth.
Ι don't believe it!!!! You just did it! You reacted to the whole CD at once! You are a true Nightwish knight (haha!)!
I would say, "He's ranked up -- instead of a Private, he's now a Captain."
After all, we are the Nightwish Army. Lol
Knowing your music background, I always believed that you would come to this sooner or later.
When this video ended, I was actually a little lost for words… I have listened to disc 2 many times, but sitting here and basically going along with you, put the experience on a whole new level.
THANK YOU.
43mins of solid gold =) Disc 2 is a gift so world can relax & see the nature with nordic eyes.
The speaking parts in this song are done by British actress, Geraldine James. I'm glad you reacted to this, thank you ✨🖤
Thank you for showing your heart. From the whole album both cds included Quiet as the Snow is my second favorite song. In that small masterpiece Tuomas has thrown in all the quiet winter mornings when snow slowly wafts down from the tree tops and all the moonlight evenings when temperature drops to -25C and the snow crunches under your shoe and an owl howls through the snowy spruces. I’ve lived through all of them and those are the images I see when listening that piece of art. Heavenly! ❤️
I loved your description of Quiet as Snow. I can relate. I think those of us who live in colder climates where we experience all the seasons are very lucky. Peace! ☺️
Show some love to the 2015 Tampere live show, it has many great performances
Sleeping sun... Yes please
Thank you for reaction to this final song on the album Human. :ll: Nature. I’m so happy you did this! I’ve enjoyed your reactions as you have taken your trip with us, the reactors to you. This is my favorite NW reaction from you! Stay safe and keep dreaming. Hello from Missouri.
After this wonderful reaction to a beautiful piece of music, you need to revisit the live performances, particularly the Buenos Aires concert from 2018. Make your way through this amazing concert, but please try not to die watching Floor dance to 'I Want My Tears Back'. I look forward to future Nightwish reactions 😁 x
If you haven't run into them yet, I would definitely recommend Two Steps From Hell. My favourites are Black Blade, Protectors of the Earth, Victory and Impossible. Edit: Heart of Courage too. Children of the Sun is probably my favourite one(under Thomas's name) that actually has lead vocals.
Really good shout
Would also suggest Star Sky! One of their best
@@GregTheReaper I'm going to push Two Steps from Hell on every video I watch of his now until he checks them out.
If I may, I'll add Illusions (also under Thomas's name). The nasal-distorted female cross-cutting the choir just does it for me.
@@TheRockhound119 Two steps army unite!!
I'd love to see some kind of best of David Attenborough wildlife documentary with this entire piece as the soundtrack.
I had this basically on repeat for two weeks while working from home - usually via vinyl. Perfect for that. I now am back in the office and brought my headphones/Spotify with me 👍
The Islander, live at Tampere. Do Marko a favor and react to this please
from ghost love score to here, what a ride, (it's not over).!
Respect for doing this. This is very important part of the album, and almost nobody seem to focus on it (people too ADHD nowadays?) I bet this is even more important side of the album for Tuomas, he's been long time soundtrack fan etc. ps. oh also so much better to listen this start to finish without those track changes (with gapless playback). You can then really fall deep without any interruptions eyes closed 😌 👌
Final song Ad astra is actually longer. The video what you watched starts about 1 minute after the song started.
Disc 2 is like 1 big Disney Soundtrack. I got Human :||: Nature last week, had a few drinks and listened to both. The Scrooge McDuck thing Tuomas has done apparently is very Disney Soundtrack sounding from what I've been told. I need to see if I can order it from overseas.
Lifetime of Adventure is one of my favorite works to come out of that man's brain. I LOVE listening to in on long drives
I don't know the whole Scrooge-thing, but what i have heard so far is amazing and inspiring, pretty close to this one in style.
The Last Sled is just gorgeous too.
The whole Duck album is on RUclips.
Here you go: www.recordshopx.com/artist/holopainen_tuomas/the_life_and_times_of_scrooge/#462234 They ship worldwide.
You talked about a movie... You can try to have a look at "Imaginaerium", developed with and features music from Nightwish's studio album of the same name... And they played in this kind of Tim Burton movie !
Alex i really would like to see it but where can I watch/buy it? I can’t find it anywhere
Yes, if anyone knows, post a link please!
Well I don't really know where you can find it, at least in english. But you can see it in french ther : ruclips.net/video/gAy9pcS-Y3o/видео.html. There are no subtitles, you can try the auto-translate function, but I'm not sure it will work very well.
@@renskevanderhaagen5813 I don't think it exists online. There are DVD copies at Nuclearblast's webstore and on ebay. I just went on a Google search to see if I could stream it anywhere and I couldn't find it. Not without infecting my computer with viruses, anyway.

Tuomas is a wood elf level 74, proberly gained levels during qurantine..lol.. he do play the game Skyrim.. its a nice piece of music, to have in the background doing other stuff, glad you did this one to..!!
Hope your not done with Nightwish.!! well i know you aint... you got to have it, just like me right..lol
Tuomas is playing Skyrim and thinks ”Oh man, I’m not feeling this game music... I’ll just quickly compose few better tracks for my playing sessions”.
So beautiful, Nightwish is a next level of music! Love it so much!!!
this is so powerful and inspirational and absolutely stunning work just everything about this from the way it looks and what was captured and what you hear from the whispers of life and it doesn't matter what part you start with. It will certainly help to put things into perspective for folks as far as " with what people can do to help preserve the all the things that we as earthlings and what it means to enjoy that thing called life here and anywhere else we may be going or want to go" i mean no one could give this nature documentary a better title than the one it has this should have billions of views someone should do something about that i can see folks just turning this up to eleven just blasting this whenever and wherever you can its so uplifting this is Godlike its right back to what i said about Nightwish and their intellectually stimulating creativity going on here ladies & gentlemen ya know Tuomas did say he's a big fan of the John Williams and Hans Zimmer orchestral stuff like star wars for example or lord of the rings it does remind me of those digital music soundscapes that i used to listen to that had the really cool background images
25:38-25:58 Totally same with me! The power of music is incredible. Best drug ever!
They end this album tour with Moors ending, it's so beautiful! I was in Tallin to their concert and it was... just no words.
After hearing greatest show on earth I hoped tuomas would make a fully classical piece and here it is. I've been listening to this as much as the first disc, maybe more. So calming, inspiring and energetic at the same time. The world is a better place with this piece of music.
There's a group called Two Steps From Hell, they're a cinematic music group. They and Nightwish have often seemed to grow in the same direction from different points of origin. I'd recommend a few songs of them. Flight of the Silverbird for something with a heavy rif, Star Sky for vocals, and blackheart for the most amazing violin you've ever heard.
Sidenote, I was going to see them around this time, got delayed till next year. :'( One of their components is called Thomas amusingly.
As a hellin (greek) metalhead who loves great music I love vaggelis papathanasiou and yannis as they are 2 of the best composers of our time . After listening to The life and times of skrootz mcduck and this one I got sure that Tuomas is at least at that level. Masterpiece.
He did a movie brother, Imaginaerum
With this disc i get Vivaldi, Smetana, Ravel and Beethoven vibes Tuomas is realy incredible at least one of the greatest composer of our times.
I love it, i love it and did i mention that i love it.
Yeah, can't help tearing up for this music. God damned.
Hello. This is a comment to inform you that Nightwish ALSO has a song featuring a native american flute man. Yes. They have experimented with native american tunes. The song is Creek Marys Blood. Recommend checking the live vid from End of an Era concert w/ Tarja
Oh and they did some jazz. ( psst that song is called Slow, Love, Slow)
I have to give you a huge thumbs up, as you are only the 2nd person (that I know of) to react to Disk 2. Congrats man!
This is truly a masterpiece heard in one breath
The whole disc in one sitting...GREAT SCOTT!!!
Haha, nice Doc Brown reference!
I did NOT expect you to actually do this reaction (too long, but you're one of us it seems 😀), WOW, thank you!
You could take literally every single piece for a AAA movie as a main theme!
Holopainen is like a great romantic era composer, with good deal of John Williams influence. He could easily make a name as a classical composer. And he writes great, epic metal songs, as his main occupation. Such talent!
Watching you experience this gorgeous music made me listen to it with you with more excitement again.
I have been watching the fan made video that accompanies the whole of disc 2 over and over, but have never just listened without the visual. It is transformative.
I literally can picture & feel the waves, the wind in the trees, or the grasses on the moors flowing like waves with the changes, ebb, and swell of the music.
He is a genius. Thank you Tuomas!
Please check out Nightwish Sleeping Sun Live (End of an Era)
Hallo Thanks so much to react thus.. this a piece they must play in the Elphie Hamburg with full Orchetra.. and with Floor in the Opera Choir i closed my eyes, it is Magic..Tuomas the Beethoven of our Lifetime..ps i forget your best reaction ever😘😉😀
I spent the day yesterday out in the natue. The feeling of the Grass, the bark of a tree or just the earth on your skin is magic and beautiful. Hearing this Music is a little like being there again. The good. Just 2 minutes and im there again. :) Thank you for your reactions. like always
I’ve listened to it several times, love it! It’s great to decompress in the evenings after a long day. It flows really well and it’s beautiful!
We all crying to this beautiful masterpiece!
This is a straight out "relaxation soundtrack". Even with the bit "heavier" parts it's still so calming. Classical music does that to me too (well not all, but a lot of it).
And on the other hand this is a ready to use soundtrack for some movie (if they'd want to sell the rights for that use).
Since you obviously like songs that hit you in the feels, I have to recommend Helvegen by wardruna + aurora (the red light one). Hits me every single time I listen to it.
Kiitos Tuomas Holopainen paras musikki :) from Finland.
There is a Nightwish movie called « Imaginaerum » based on the album of the same name with band members cameos 😉
Watching your visceral reaction to this was an absolute joy.
Also, as a few people already pointed out, Nightwish/Thuomas had their own movie, Imaginaerum. It is a little obscure if you don't follow the lyrics of the OST, but it is *good*. It is an incursion in thuomas' mind and how he views certain things in life. And It's an experience, let me tell you.
SOOOOO AMAZING !!!!!......AD ASTRA is definatly the Highlight !
So nice to see some genuine reactions to the other end of the scale, just pure beauty!
Oh ty ty for doing this cd, a lot of reactors have not bothered to do it they are so missing out on some beautiful work.
Man I love your Nightwish reactions.. they always make me smile and appreciate that you appreciate this music and.... Floor! She's amazing ❤️. Hey, don't miss " Sacrament of wilderness" from the Buenos Aires Live... she'll melt your brain holes again 😂 🤟
Thank you! I've been waiting for this. I always love your reactions and this was no exception. Thank you.
Blue is my favourite. By far. I can run it on repeat forever.
No words to describe Floor's voice, then we have Toumas, can't come up with anything other than Genius....
This second disc is an amazing piece of music...I enjoy this as much as the first ! Great reaction👏👍
I... have new appreciation for this second Disc now!
Also, I too might be experiencing all the feels right now. It‘s ok. 🤗
Music to soothe everyone's soul. Love that this masterpiece causes you to cry like me. Thank you for sharing your emotions with me and for all your reaction videos.
Yes! Thanks for doing it!
Joining voices and notes together, creating atmospheres and emotions in this way, it's called genius ... it's called art !! I'm an old Nightwish fan, their music has helped me a lot! I understand your emotion every time you listen to them.
Long life to all, long life to Nightwish
Wonderful reaction to this magnificent piece of art! Make sure that whenever you meet Floor, you make a video out of that, I would love to see that :-)
Beautiful ❤
I always said that if Tuomas composed classical music instead of metal, he would be known as a modern composer in the same category as the likes of John Williams and Danny Elfman. All The Works of Nature Which Adorn the World proves I was right.
Well he kinda does. They have released orchestral versions of the Nightwish songs and those sound like pure classical music.
@@lekalla True, but because he's always had the "metal" labeled attached to him he's never been recognized as a composer (at least internationally). He may not care about being recognized that way but I suspect if Disney or Bethesda asked him to compose a movie or a video game score he'd jump on the occasion ;)
After pt. 2 I was thinking, "Someone call 9-1-1 because he's not going to make it...". Haha!
Perfect sleep music 🎶
I have listened to this album basically on repeat since it came out and I still cry ever. Single. Time.
It is just the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. Gotta listen to it start to finish each time to get the full experience.
I'll be back later with more time to really enjoy this as I've enjoyed your other reactions. I'll edit this comment then.
P.S. Finally I had the time to listen to Tuomas' love letter to nature with you. This was only the 2nd time I listened it on a YT reaction channel, but I've done it many more times on my own time. This instrumental is so beautiful & just perfect when you wanna relax & let your imagination take you to places you wish you could someday visit in real life.
I'm soooo happy you did react to this part too ! ♡
It was a pleasure to watch you reacting to this masterpiece, thank you so much.
I love what this music does to people.
For me personally, my favourite thing is listening to the full piece with my eyes closed. It's a journey! With "The Green" it's like you can literally see the fairies dancing in the clearing of a mystic forest. In "The Blue" there's sirens haunting. Moors are getting back to "Music" ("Can you hear the brave drum from the moors?") with its style. And so on... Truly a masterpiece. Can't say it often enough.
The nature side is so uplifting
Благодарим за видео! Хорошая работа. 👌 Скоро Флор намекнула, песня новая на 2 языках выйдет. Ждём! 😁
The Blue and Ad Astra are my favorites.
Nigthwish made the movie. Called IMAGINARIUM
that was touching. All the best to you. Stay safe.
Props for this video man! glad you did it! ^^
I can repeat this song all day, day to day. When the album came out I was having some problem with sleep, and this song help so much
What a ride! Indeed, it did seem to go by quickly! Quiet As the Snow was my most favorite. That one hit all sorts of emotions in me. I absolutely love the snow, and when I closed my eyes it seemed that I could see the snow and smell the winter air. Great job Mr. RnR! It was a pleasure going on this journey with you! 🤘💗☮
The Life and times of Scrooge Mcduck....Do it! You said...love Tuomas...That album has also great tracks
Well this video is a nice surprise!👍🔥
You have to do a reaction to 'Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours'!!
Tyvm for your reaction. Please don't change. You're True, sincere. Keep on going like that. Xoxo
1st: Holopainen
2nd: Vangelis
3rd: Zimmer
4th: Jean Michel Jarre
And yeah TSO is really cool. Together with the previous bands of Jon Olivia: Tage Mahal, John Olivia's pain and last but not least Savatage. Both Savatage and Stratovarious were of huge influence on the beginning of Nightwish.
Taj Mahal was an american blues-musician, and Tage (not Taj) Mahal was the first LP of Jon Oliva (from 2004) with Jon Olivas Pain, and not a band. Just my 2 cent...
@@Blues666 yeah you are right about the name: it is Tage Mahal. However the band names were 1st Jon Oliva's project and Tage Mahal. At the release of the album "Tage Mahal" the band name was changed into Jon Oliva's pain.
Jon and Criss Oliva, man I LOVED Savatage, STILL have their first 2 albums.
@Mr. Rock N Roll You're the first one I've encountered who has reacted to the second half of the album, and I thank you for it. When you said "I could listen to this all day" it made me smile, because I totally agree with you and have done so myself. I was happy to learn you love musical score just as much as I do. I probably have hundreds of soundtracks from movies, musicals and games in my music collection. Heck, sometimes I'll buy a game just because I want the soundtrack! ;) Take care, and keep on reacting.
I hear so many cues from Life and times of Scrooge in part 2.. so lovely
This is my 4th time going through your NW reactions. I can't get enough man! you're just so much fun to watch. It's like discovering a band with a good friend and just watching together. Bravo and keep up the awesome reactions/reviews!!
