    This disc is made to slow you down, leave the "NOISE" behind and drift off into a world of peace and beauty. The music paints the picture of the name it was given............not what many Nightwish fans will really like but a masterpiece to those who love and appreciate beautiful "MUSIC" in any form

      I love music like this so much that it makes me love Nightwish even more now than I ever did before! I have a very eclectic taste in music, but Nightwish has been a favorite since I was a teenager and I first heard 10th Man Down in a music video. I don't think I could ever stop listening to them!

    As you will remember, Ad Astra was released as a single ahead of the Album launch. I listened to it for one of the very first times from my mobile phone, while i was driving the ambulance back to base, in the early days of total COVID 19 lockdown here in Italy. Driving past silent homes decorated with children' drawings, italian flags and "all will be well" messages. It was powerful. It really was.

  • @IvanaMedovka
    @IvanaMedovka 4 года назад +11

    This one is truly a piece of ART 😍
    The lady who speaks in Vista & Ad Astra is Geraldine James, British actress
    Quote in Vista is by George Gordon Byron - Lord Byron from Childe Harold's Pilgrimage
    Quote in Ad Astra is by Carl Sagan from Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
    The whole Ad Astra lasts 4 minutes and 42 seconds on album and this video version is shortened for more than a minute, so check out the whole one when you have time 😉
    In Quiet As The Snow you can hear "Here comes the snow" in multiple languanges
    Title of this whole piece is part of quote by Leonardo da Vinci from The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci edited by Jean Paul Richter (1880):
    "Painting is concerned with all the 10 attributes of sight; which are:-Darkness, Light, Solidity and Colour, Form and Position, Distance and Propinquity, Motion and Rest. This little work of mine will be a tissue [of the studies] of these attributes, reminding the painter of the rules and methods by which he should use his art to imitate all the works of Nature which adorn the world."

      Ivana, thank you for what you said.
      As I have said elsewhere, I have learned more from this album about non-musical things than I thought possible. And once you reach a certain point, I came to realize: We live in a one-of-a-kind, awe-inspiring and gloriously majestic Pale Blue Dot...a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.
      Because this is here. This is home.
      This is us.

    18:17 Just a quick correction. Troy doesn't use bagpipes. The instrument is called uilleann pipes. Well, I guess they are bagpipes because they're like the Irish cousin to the bagpipes. The uilleann pipes have a much sweeter sound than the Scottish bagpipes.
    I love the melody that starts at 20:27. I don't know why but I absolutely love it. I find myself humming it multiple times during the day. I love it on piano, I love it through Troy's pipes, and I love Floor singing it during Ad Astra!

    Thank you for showing your heart. From the whole album both cds included Quiet as the Snow is my second favorite song. In that small masterpiece Tuomas has thrown in all the quiet winter mornings when snow slowly wafts down from the tree tops and all the moonlight evenings when temperature drops to -25C and the snow crunches under your shoe and an owl howls through the snowy spruces. I’ve lived through all of them and those are the images I see when listening that piece of art. Heavenly! ❤️

    this is so powerful and inspirational and absolutely stunning work just everything about this from the way it looks and what was captured and what you hear from the whispers of life and it doesn't matter what part you start with. It will certainly help to put things into perspective for folks as far as " with what people can do to help preserve the all the things that we as earthlings and what it means to enjoy that thing called life here and anywhere else we may be going or want to go" i mean no one could give this nature documentary a better title than the one it has this should have billions of views someone should do something about that i can see folks just turning this up to eleven just blasting this whenever and wherever you can its so uplifting this is Godlike its right back to what i said about Nightwish and their intellectually stimulating creativity going on here ladies & gentlemen ya know Tuomas did say he's a big fan of the John Williams and Hans Zimmer orchestral stuff like star wars for example or lord of the rings it does remind me of those digital music soundscapes that i used to listen to that had the really cool background images

    There's a group called Two Steps From Hell, they're a cinematic music group. They and Nightwish have often seemed to grow in the same direction from different points of origin. I'd recommend a few songs of them. Flight of the Silverbird for something with a heavy rif, Star Sky for vocals, and blackheart for the most amazing violin you've ever heard.

    Watching your visceral reaction to this was an absolute joy.
    Also, as a few people already pointed out, Nightwish/Thuomas had their own movie, Imaginaerum. It is a little obscure if you don't follow the lyrics of the OST, but it is *good*. It is an incursion in thuomas' mind and how he views certain things in life. And It's an experience, let me tell you.

    I always said that if Tuomas composed classical music instead of metal, he would be known as a modern composer in the same category as the likes of John Williams and Danny Elfman. All The Works of Nature Which Adorn the World proves I was right.

    • @lekalla
      @lekalla 4 года назад +2

      Well he kinda does. They have released orchestral versions of the Nightwish songs and those sound like pure classical music.

    • @cyberjarl
      @cyberjarl 4 года назад

      @@lekalla True, but because he's always had the "metal" labeled attached to him he's never been recognized as a composer (at least internationally). He may not care about being recognized that way but I suspect if Disney or Bethesda asked him to compose a movie or a video game score he'd jump on the occasion ;)

    I'll be back later with more time to really enjoy this as I've enjoyed your other reactions. I'll edit this comment then.
    P.S. Finally I had the time to listen to Tuomas' love letter to nature with you. This was only the 2nd time I listened it on a YT reaction channel, but I've done it many more times on my own time. This instrumental is so beautiful & just perfect when you wanna relax & let your imagination take you to places you wish you could someday visit in real life.

    It was a pleasure to watch you reacting to this masterpiece, thank you so much.
    I love what this music does to people.
    For me personally, my favourite thing is listening to the full piece with my eyes closed. It's a journey! With "The Green" it's like you can literally see the fairies dancing in the clearing of a mystic forest. In "The Blue" there's sirens haunting. Moors are getting back to "Music" ("Can you hear the brave drum from the moors?") with its style. And so on... Truly a masterpiece. Can't say it often enough.

    And yeah TSO is really cool. Together with the previous bands of Jon Olivia: Tage Mahal, John Olivia's pain and last but not least Savatage. Both Savatage and Stratovarious were of huge influence on the beginning of Nightwish.

    • @Blues666
      @Blues666 4 года назад

      Taj Mahal was an american blues-musician, and Tage (not Taj) Mahal was the first LP of Jon Oliva (from 2004) with Jon Olivas Pain, and not a band. Just my 2 cent...

    • @dennisinbreda1126
      @dennisinbreda1126 4 года назад

      @@Blues666 yeah you are right about the name: it is Tage Mahal. However the band names were 1st Jon Oliva's project and Tage Mahal. At the release of the album "Tage Mahal" the band name was changed into Jon Oliva's pain.

    @Mr. Rock N Roll You're the first one I've encountered who has reacted to the second half of the album, and I thank you for it. When you said "I could listen to this all day" it made me smile, because I totally agree with you and have done so myself. I was happy to learn you love musical score just as much as I do. I probably have hundreds of soundtracks from movies, musicals and games in my music collection. Heck, sometimes I'll buy a game just because I want the soundtrack! ;) Take care, and keep on reacting.
