fcuk snow ...who needs that??? ive been to almost all snow capped peaks ..they r wonderful but for a very short period ..then the cold weather wears u down and u feel depressed ....i find western ghats more pragmatic...btw ...only one problem ..very less trees /flora fauna .
Oh so many changes. Done this track almost 37 years ago and it was my first track. It was very difficult at that time as no ladders were there and the pathway was so slippery that we almost crawled there.. Golden memories...
yes sir, now it has gone mainstream, ladders everywhere and easy, those patches without ladder is difficult. you must have had great thrill 37 years back when world was much greener and peaceful, i dont think so you will have photos of this 37 years back :)
Gautam Khetwal No I don't have any photos as carrying camera was difficult and our track started right from neral station and we were about 40 guys and some girls. Crossing the farm land was great task as the boundary of each field is mark by high mud wall and it was Sept so the field were filled with water and the mud wall was slippery..
Nice video!!!!. Thank you So much, for sharing this wonderful landscape with us!!!.I like the fact, you focus in the beautiful & worthy things, India has to offer,to the rest of the world!!!. That`s pretty cool!!!.Greetings from America!!!. :-) !!!.
Gautam you are doing a great job with these videos...you are a true adventurer at heart 👌👍 Make sure to give a befitting reply to the nasty, negative comments !! From California
December 8, 2010... My first trek Vikatgad ...I nearly nearly gone down from a great height....my mates pulled me up...so much thrill.... Enjoyed to my depths of heart... Later Kothligad,Shrivardhan,Manoranjan,Songiri...... Really miss my trek team...
very well made video. I visited Peb only yesterday. Your video was a very good guide. The scenary was absolutely breathtaking. Such a beautiful place! Felt likd heavan.
Just want to say how moving your vidoes are ... live, for me, is about the beauty of the edge ... you show the wonder of Northern India in a way that moves me beyond description ... hiking in the monsoon season, eh? :)
Hum bachpan mai bandaro ki tarah ye chotiya climb kar dete the , vaise gautam bahot achha kaam kar raha hai inko is tarime se beautifully duniya ke samne present kar ke💐
Very good trek. First we go to Aanand wadi then to peb fort. While returning we went to matheran side. When you reach railway track then take left turn towards neral. You have to do 1-2 km walk to reach near panorama point. From there you can call taxi from matheran through their representative for going to matheran base or neral or Karjat. Second option is to do 3-4 km walk towards matheran. Reach dasturi parking point from where u will get taxi for matheran base or neral or Karjat
Gautam khetwal its awesome man first it wil great achievement for climbing down this peak but how you manage making video its unbelievable keep it up your awesome and courageous
Another gem from you Gautam. Keep up the good work. This route is relatively new. It now looks easy. But in the old days there was no ladder near Lord Ganesh idol. In fact in monsoon there was a pretty big waterfall here ( on the flanks of Matheran below Panorama Point Hill). The steps crisscrossed over the waterfall route and not visible when waterfall was active. Beside, the ladders on Peb side were also not in place. The way one traversed from Peb to Matheran was by a long cliffside traverse on the South-Western side. A very long and exposed one. These days you won't even find it. It finally led to the col between Peb and Matheran. The current route from col to Peb is on the North Eastern flank. So once when we traversed from Peb to this col and then along the Matheran side trail, we got stuck at the waterfall I mentioned. It was impossible to cross that patch. We explored somehow reaching Panorama point or the railway track from anywhere between col and this point. But no luck. Had to return all the way via Peb - Nakhind col and down.
yeah now it is a pretty famous trek so all sorts of aids are kept, ladders and route is well laid, now it is an easy trek unlike the tower route. However the peb nakhind traverse is not used much as it is very long and dense.
It had an important use earlier besides being a thrilling and remote traverse. If you spent the night in the cave at Peb (tower route) then next day morning you could use this traverse to reach Matheran for good food, go down to Neral to catch train.
you can take local tum tum and tell them to drop at peb trek point. it is after the 4th u bend. it might take 2.5 to 3 hours casually. it is an easy grade from rail route.
mohini epte From just outside Neral railway station you can hire a Cab ride upto Dastoori and from there either go trekking all the way up to the main matheran market or take a pony or a porter ride, depending upon your physical ability.
Hey Gautam!! Nice video!! Could you tell me where to take diversion from matheran rail track? Where to head for matheran taxi stand after visiting peb fort?
Sir can you please provide me details of the base point where you started the trekking and and the point when we have to leave rail route and follow narrow cliff route?
I'm very fond of u. & yr vdo on trekking. Being solo traveller, very difficult to shot with tripod dslr camera. Well done. I think GoPro with accessories will help & easy to shoot such terrain. Well done keep it up with safety measures - k k rana
thank you very much, i dont use dslr, only compact digital camera and sjcam, less accessories less hassle to manage, still it it tedious to shoot solo :)
Hey Gautam, it's an Awesome video. The other side of Matheran captured through your lenses. I got something new to explore. Thanks a lot and please be careful. Love from Pune.
Im from Canada. Your country is amazing... WOW !!

If you could just help us out..how to go by matheran rail route..whts the mode of transport? and how much time does an average person takes to trek?
you can take local tum tum and tell them to drop at peb trek point. it is after the 4th u bend. it might take 2.5 to 3 hours casually. it is an easy grade from rail route.
