Nice intro lol - You explained bit rate in the first 5 seconds like a pro. My Sony X3000 records up to 50M at 60P. So I've been playing around with rendering at different rates to see what looks best at the most optimal size.
apart from resolution and bitrate what would you say is the biggest factor in quality? I film with an LGV40 smartphone and 1080p30fps uses 24mbps. I also have a gcam mod installed on the phone and it gets the same picture quality at 1080p30fps with only 2 thirds of the bitrate
@@wallinggraham3836 Compression is extremely important. Your GCam mod probably has H265 enabled which allows for the same resolution at a much lower file size (smaller bitrate)

OMG THANK YOU!!!! I'm in the process of buying my 1st professional camera and was getting really confused. I'm practicing with a friend's camera at the moment but she doesn't fiddle with the settings so she's as clueless as I was with bitrates. This really saved me I have just one shot at getting this footage and 3 days to fully understand how bit rates & interlaced/progressive scans worked.

I also knew beforehand that my videos were of poor quality because the standard bitrate premiere pro gavve me was pretty bad, so I just cranked it up all the way, leaving me with huge file sizes and long exporting times. The insight on the bitrates different video types/movies use was really helpful and now I sort of get what i should go for!
In short the difference between resolution and bit rate is like having a photo, the size of the photo is the resolution but how much content in it is the bit rate.
A real life comparison to understand resolution and bitrate is to imagine a painting. Resolution is like the size of the canvas, and bitrate is like the quality of the paint. A larger canvas can fit more details, but it also requires more paint. A higher quality paint can produce more vivid colors, but it also costs more. Depending on the size of the room and the lighting, a larger canvas or a higher quality paint may or may not enhance the viewing experience. The optimal combination of resolution and bitrate depends on the balance between the size of the canvas, the quality of the paint, and the environment of the viewer.
