Does the GPS compensate for wind gusts when flying and/or returning home? The reason I ask is I'm considering filming some aerial GoPro footage at the beach. Thanks for posting! Awesome video!
So here are my questions: 1. What is the approximate FPV range with this setup? 2. For the Phantom 2 setup in this video, (Without the GoPro camera) what is the approximate street price for this custom setup as shown? What would you say are the primary advantages of this custom Phantom 2 setup over the Phantom 2 "Vision"? many thanks for your thoughts?
Storm FPV system is available for hundreds of meters. If you want longer distance, you can install a better antenna or you can use a more powerful video transmitter . For more information of a high power transmitter, please search "The Thunderbolt" in helipal.com. You can find a 2000mw fpv solution. It offers a very long distance for video transmission. You can search the price of this fully loaded Phantom 2 is about USD$1000 (wihtout gopro). To compare this "Phantom 2" to "Phantom 2 Vision", it is available for H3-2D gimbal that offers higher video stability. It is also a good product for those who like using GoPro camera
Regarding the advantages of the P2 versus the P2 Vision: The P2 Vision is ideal for the person that wants basic video/photography and is okay with minor stabilization however it has a live video feed to your iOS or Android device that allows you to see and control both the Video or Picture taking functionality of the Vision camera - very impressive control. The P2 has the option to use a 2 axis gimbal or even a 3 axis gimbal (If you consider other 3rd party gimbals or an adapter) for a GoPro (which I find to provide superior video compared to the Vision) however you also need to add in FPV capability to be able to see what the camera sees and it lacks the elegant ability to control with a Phone or iPad. The P2 Vision is more ready to fly out of the box, the alternative P2 purchased with gimbal and FPV components requires more assembly and setup. I plan to get the P2 as I desire more camera stability. What I really want is P2 with the superior gimbal options & the ability to see the images and control a Go Pro Camera with my iPad Mini instead of using add on FPV components.
I would agree with that assessment. If DJI offered a similar FPV-iPhone-Android and camera control setup for the Phantom 2 with their H32D Gimbal (without the Phantom 2 vision camera) and the ability to control a GoPro3 on a 2 axis gimbal from a iPhone-android app, that would be a sweet spot solution for aerial photography and video for me. Would be willing to pay more than the Phantom 2 Vision current street price of around $1200.00 US. Have seen some folks on RUclips who have created a actual 2 axis gimbal for the Phantom2 Vision camera by ditching the stock mount for the vision camera.. their pictures and video stability look great with that modification and with the convenience of smartphone control and decent entry level FPV at a good price.
It sounds like we are like minded in what we are looking for ;) Its an exciting and fast moving technology which seems to get new and improved components and options almost ever 6-9 months.
Please don't repaint in Rainbow Dash colours. That's my idea ;) (jk. i fly a F450 with Dashie on top. If you have any experience in rc, try to get the f450/ f550 with NazaM v2/ gps. Stable as the Phantom v2, but easier to modify. (and if you shop smart- cheaper;) ) /)
Lol, thanks! Don't worry, I won't paint RD, she's actually my least favorite pony besides Rarity, simply because both of them are nothing like me. But thanks! /)
kak775 Fluttershy would be a funny paintscheme- a flying machine afraid of flying... *edit* Also: Blasphemy, least favorite.. You do NOT want to know how she reacted here... "not cool.", but then 20% worse! (i'm a Dash-fan, that is obvious:P) /)
I just flown in my F450 in a Phantom 1 body, did something a bit dangerous... xD Added my Samsung S4... I need to film don't I?! :P I recommend buying the Phantom if you don't have a lot of RC experience, but if you don't mind tinkering with remotes, settings and soldering, then maybe the F450 is something to think about. The F450 flies the same, but has a much lower price, and the (excluded, you need to buy one) remote of choice can get you lots more options on your quad. I'm off, second battery just finished charging ;) /)
Hi friend, how is to see the video in real time on the monitor? I need to buy something? Already have a go pro and am about to buy the phantom dji 2. But I have doubts about it
Am gona get one of these, just a few... wel dum questions, have you tryde to fly it for around 20 min in one go?, and not just hover it for 20 min. and the video recording device (or what ever its named) can u record for how long? am thinking of the stock one you get with the Phanton 2. ps: sorry for my english
What's the name of the monitor on your controller, and what do I need on the 2 to use it? I looked here but couldn't find anything. Would love to have such a large FPV display.
HeliPal Hello question looking at buying the storm fpv from you guys and saw the videos but didn't see any with the install on the actual phantom 2. I'm a complete noob when it comes to wiring so I'm trying to figure out what powers the transmitter where do you plug the power wire into the phantom 2?
Hi Helipal. Yes, I would also like to know this? I see them on Ebay for about $35 but how are they powered? Also, what flight time do you get with this setup please. We would appreciate it if you could answer some of these questions, great video btw!
Hi Helipal I see that you use a zenmuse for phantom 1, was difficult to install the Damping Rubber Frame in to the Phantom 2? I have also a Zenmuse 3H 2D, still new on the box, and I bought the phantom 2, and I thought was easier to install it, till I find out that the Damping Ruber Frame is not the same . why they do not sell a Kit to upgrade it for Phantom 2? I don't understand.
It sounds like an angry swarm of bees. If I had one I'd make sure to lighten is up as much as possible. It looks like there was much that could be improved to reduce some weight.
bigky226 I have the Zenmuse H3-3d for my Phantom 2 and you can control the up and down tilt using the white plastic lever on the back of the Phantom's remote control. Took me a bit to figure out since it doesn't mention it in the gimbal's manual.
***** If you don't have the gps mode turned on and calibrated it will tend to drift in the direction it is moving but it definitely won't fly away on its own. From my experience even with gps turned off the Phantom tends to stay relatively stationary in the air on its own
I crashed with my phantom 2 and one of the ccw rotor was not turning. I ordered a new one and replaced it but it's still shaking and not spinning fast. What's the remedy for this? Thanks.
To be honest im still not sure about the phantom 2 even though its nice to see it on youtube flying about but it would be better to try it out or see one in action for real not one of video but above all that good video
trainmman I felt the same way but decided to take the risk and buy it and I can honestly say that I am far from disappointed. The phantom 2 actually surpassed my expectations in control, durability, and ease of use, and with the addition of a gimbal the video footage is quite breathtaking. I definitely expected it to be a solid piece of technology, but it really is engineered with precision. I'd recommend it for sure.
brendan rogers hi I did finally got for one in June 2014 and I'm really enjoying it even thought the battery is expensive but above all that its really good I have done lots of low passes over rivers filming friends flying their airplanes so much things really enjoying it. Out with it 5-6 times a month depending on weather
Need to buy more of what device? Where? To keep track of scenes from television cameras as in 00:32 seconds Phantom h3-2d buy on amazon no such device!
just got mine in the mail today and I can't get the gimbal to look forward? when I power on it kicks forward for 3 seconds then points straight down. I've added the new updates and turned it on in the software but the controller on the back won't do a thing? anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Plug the drone to computer and use latest software to check the X1 bar, will it move when you move the White Lever on the back of the transmitter? X1 is the control for Gimbal Tilt.
did that! i updated everything and the gimbal says its on but it won't move up. it will only face down. just tried to fly it anyway and it won't even lift off. just flips over on its ass backwards. Everything is on default settings so something ain't right! Ive got the vision and 2 original phantoms with the H3-2D and can't figure this one out lol
Flight time of 25min is only possible with no load. With the camera gimbal, hero3, FPV Tx and iOSD, you will be lucky to get 7 to 8 min of flight time. With this kind of payload, you will need some skill to manoeuvre it properly.
Im still not impressed with the cost and the stability. Its seriously not worth the money and not worth the footage. Been waiting since I heard of the phantom, but im still waiting for a next model till they get this one right.
Filmer If you already have a Go Pro you can buy a Phantom 2 with a 3 axis gimbal for under $700. Seems kind of expensive but the quality is near professional with a little practice flying. The Phantom 2 is definitely a worthwhile investment especially if you are interested in filmmaking or photography.
brendan rogers well I have already my choice, like i said i was going to wait to buy a drone, but i found the one I want. took a couple of years but worth the wait. The Solo drone is the drone I have been waiting for...
when they come out with a dji phanton that has a 30 minutes plus battery life, water proof and indestructible well at least 90 percent indestructible i'll buy one and they also can do better with the color of it white sucks
Here is the truth from a guy who owned the Phantom 1 (destroyed 4 batteries) and just got his Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H2-3D Gimble. Everything about this thing is awesome, except for one thing; and that one thing makes the entire package worthless. It's sad, really. The Zenmuse H2-3D gimble will only point your GoPro straight down. STRAIGHT DOWN. So if you have ideas of driving your phantom through beautiful sceneries and capturing them with your GoPro, forget it. Straight down is all you get. Oh, maybe I have it set up wrong you say? Maybe. Who knows? The Zenmuse H2-3D Gimble only comes with a 6 panel, single page of instructions, and I am 100% sure it is hooked up correctly according to those instructions. As a matter of fact, the angle that the Zenmuse holds your GoPro (horizontal to straight down) is never mentioned in the documentation you get with the Phantom 2 or the Zenmuse, or even online. My synopsis is this: The Phantom 2 with Zenmuse is a product built for men with a disposable income. Who else buys quadcopters with gimbles? DJI has made a bet that even though their product is faulty and virtually unusable, men with disposable incomes will not make the point to return their product after they realize this fact. I spent $1000 on the PHANTOM 1 and $800 on the PHANTOM 2 with Zenmuse Gimble. I will be returning the Phantom 2 tomorrow.
Great video showing an overview of the features of the DJI Phantom 2. More people will be informed now, surely.
Thanks for the video Helipal, I've ordered one to arrive intime for Christmas!
Awesome video!! I'm looking to buy one and was trying to figure the difference between the 2 gimbals, this one seems just fine
Does the GPS compensate for wind gusts when flying and/or returning home? The reason I ask is I'm considering filming some aerial GoPro footage at the beach. Thanks for posting! Awesome video!
That was cool. Where'd you get all the extras? I just bought my Phantom 2... already wrecked it.
Very nice but what modification did you do to it? Does it come with the screen? its very hard to instal right?
So here are my questions:
1. What is the approximate FPV range with this setup?
2. For the Phantom 2 setup in this video, (Without the GoPro camera) what is the approximate street price for this custom setup as shown?

i want to buy a drone like that. All accessories shown in the demonstration are available with ?? Thx
This is going to be my #NewToy this year!
Very good presentation.
What's the name of the monitor on your controller, and what do I need on the 2 to use it? I looked here but couldn't find anything. Would love to have such a large FPV display.
Inovations, very good equipament.
It has real time video? how to you make that work?
like do you need to buy extra things?
can you please make a video on how to install iosd and video transmitter in dji phantom 2 , with all the wiring and connections..
please go to the product page in our web-site, we have created a diagram for you :) www.helipal.com/dji-phantom-2-gps-drone-rtf.html

yo tambien, se puede?
does the display have its own battery?
Hi Helipal. Yes, I would also like to know this? I see them on Ebay for about $35 but how are they powered? Also, what flight time do you get with this setup please. We would appreciate it if you could answer some of these questions, great video btw!
Is it possible to install my airy brushless gimbal for Phantom 1 into Phantom 2?

This is a Phantom 2, easy way to tell the difference, the battery installation. Please do more research. .
What's the range of this drone? I mean the distance that it can reach before loosing signal. Looks pretty stable by the way!
1 Km reliable remote control
It sounds like an angry swarm of bees. If I had one I'd make sure to lighten is up as much as possible. It looks like there was much that could be improved to reduce some weight.
someone answer! i want the DJI Phantom 2 RTF. what do i need to be able to see out of the camera as i fly in real time?
That high draw transmitter must be lowering your flight time by at least 2-3 minutes.
Hey man does the gimball have tilt? Like the Phantom 2 Vision + ? Thanks
bigky226 I have the Zenmuse H3-3d for my Phantom 2 and you can control the up and down tilt using the white plastic lever on the back of the Phantom's remote control. Took me a bit to figure out since it doesn't mention it in the gimbal's manual.
Can I connect my smartphone as monitor instead of this kind of display?
What is the best way to mount that transmitter to Phantom? Glue it?
Can you share your set-up for the fpv?
Love the idea of having one of these but I fear they will be illegal in most places before long!
Do they still have the problem of flying away on its own??? That's what's keeping me from buying one
***** If you don't have the gps mode turned on and calibrated it will tend to drift in the direction it is moving but it definitely won't fly away on its own. From my experience even with gps turned off the Phantom tends to stay relatively stationary in the air on its own
assembled mineand I can't get the gimbal to look forward? when I power on it kicks forward for 3 seconds then points straight down. plz help
have you upgraded ALL the firmware using the Phantom 2 Assistant software, and the Phantom 2 RC Assistant Software?
Seems so good!
very good
I crashed with my phantom 2 and one of the ccw rotor was not turning. I ordered a new one and replaced it but it's still shaking and not spinning fast. What's the remedy for this? Thanks.

does this work with hero 2?

Howw far is the range

HeliPal thank you so much! Will consider buying from you guys! :)
You know the DJI Phantom is good when Amazon copies its design for drones.
Need to buy more of what device? Where? To keep track of scenes from television cameras as in 00:32 seconds
Phantom h3-2d buy on amazon no such device!
Look um Zemuse Gimble.
Why is there a go pro on it?????
Hi! what's the operation range?
Hi, reach 1600 meters limitation
just got mine in the mail today and I can't get the gimbal to look forward? when I power on it kicks forward for 3 seconds then points straight down. I've added the new updates and turned it on in the software but the controller on the back won't do a thing? anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Plug the drone to computer and use latest software to check the X1 bar, will it move when you move the White Lever on the back of the transmitter? X1 is the control for Gimbal Tilt.
it won't budge
cswamp1 check the Gimbal tab on the NAZA software, is it turned on?

Ive got the vision and 2 original phantoms with the H3-2D and can't figure this one out lol
did you check the gimbal lever on the back of your joystick?
Pan and tilt camera (gimbal) ?
Tilt only :)

This one is too noisy in the air, and the lights are too bright in the dark for surveying purpose.
you mean spying right?
買了.....沒?
That antenna should be facing upward.
when the quad is mostly above you, it should face down, towards the person.

Isn't that the GPS antenna ?
merasanam no it's for a fpv setup
How much is this?
Please simply check it out below :)

Has anyone tried these in temperatures in the range of -30F to 0F ?
Cool just curious cause we do a lot of hunting and fishing in below zero temps and a person could get some cool above lake views and so forth. Thanks
Interesting if you put the sound off, that drum groove drives you friggin mad after 30 seconds :-(
Hello I have a Phantom 2 with gimbal. Can you recommend/sell me some Goggles for FPV and the DJI iOSD for flight info? How hard is to install those?
Why so many dislikes?
im in love with this thing must have it is their a silent version of it it makes a hell alot of noise ??? fuck JAJAJA
Had to turn off all could hear is the wind !!!!!

I spent $1000 on the PHANTOM 1 and $800 on the PHANTOM 2 with Zenmuse Gimble. I will be returning the Phantom 2 tomorrow.
Relax...either modify the gimble or buy an after market gimble.
There is a lever on the bottom of the phantom 2's controller which controls where the gimbal points your GoPro
This video could be nice if you only shut up this back round drums that repeats itself endlessly, shame on you !
