You can train yourself to appreciate other flavors. Black coffee, instead of Starbucks. Steak and potatoes instead of Pizza Hut. Fruit instead of gummy worms. It's hard, but simple.

What I have found out is this:
    1) Craving for sweat taste is often just a side effect of thirst. And also note that a sour taste can often satisfy your appetite. Next time you have a sugar craving, promise yourself, that you can eat it after you drink a pint of tap water with freshly squeezed lemon juice. And if you drink it, you can have your candy. Most of the time I find out that I don't want to eat sugar after that drink at all.
    2) Eat lots of berries. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries are all allowed to you. For a moment, do not think about the price and eat any amount of them (without adding sugar of course!) Really, as much as you want. I found that eating berries satisfies my cravings and they are all superfoods with actually low amounts of calories. Just beware of dried berries as sugar is often added to those by food makers. Eat them fresh.
    3) Add very finely mixed/chopped carrots to your red sauces and stews. It is amazing how much healthy sweet taste can be gained just from carrots mixed to a consistency that is barely visible in your food. You are getting tons of vitamins, minerals, and fiber this way without completely giving up the sweet taste. The sauces also get naturally thickend by this, reducing the need for flour or starch thickening.
    4) The most important thing? Keep your newly gained habits FOR AT LEAST THREE WEEKS. After three weeks, your brain gets used to the new lifestyle and most of your cravings and addictions are gone. After that, eating healthy stops being a matter of willpower and becomes completely natural for you, without struggling.

@@ToninInTheSubway i read it out of curiosity. the main issue is that the study was done on mice, plus they were immersed in cold water for 1 to 8 hours each day. when most people take ice baths they aren't sitting in it for an hour, let alone for 8 hours. i imagine that if you are willing to sit in ice cold water for several hours a day, the shivering would definitely burn a lot of calories. but a lot of people just do it for 5 minutes or something, it's not going to be effective if it's that quick. the study also said the mice didn't even lose weight, because they just increased caloric consumption to compensate, the more hours they were in freezing water, the more they ate.
