    Amazing explanation of the topic IF, yeah - cravings are cravings not a real physiological hunger..... the problem is that we are told so much to snack.....and choose the 'healthy snacks'......

    I couldn't imagine not eating until the afternoon. I'm a thin guy and I always feel incredibly hungry in the morning. Maybe not first thing but after an hour of two I'm ready to eat.
    Interesting Video!

    Cheers Al. I’ve tried intermittent fasting many times. Those tricks your brain plays on you for what you think are hunger pangs are a curse. Fell of the wagon so many times. Have to get over the hill and stick to a plan. Thanks for the info 🤘🏻👌🏻💪🏻🔥

    I count calories and eat my meals at the same time every day. Not for weight loss or anything, i just personally thrive on the structure to keep eating healthy. To each their own!

    Whether you're trying to put on muscle or lose fat (or both), protein is king. I've been doing IF for years now. It's really not even IF any more, it's just the way I eat. I don't normally get hungry until 2pm or so. I'll have a salad or a protein shake. Then I'll eat an actual meal around 5 or 6. Might have a handful of peanuts around 8. That's about it. In fact, now that I've been dragged back into the office, I typically don't eat anything at all until I get home around 5:30.

    i follow alot of your principles about diet and exercise. i also bought your book "stretching your boundaries' and was initially a bit disappointed in it, mainly because it didn't have a structured program. then, i just started doing the stretches somewhat randomly as active rest during my workouts and now have changed my opinion into thinking that this is actually a very good book. the pictures clearly demonstrate the exercises and you provide tips for beginners as well as point out mistakes that people often make doing the exercises. i workout in the morning on an empty stomach, but i'm usually kind of ravenously hungry maybe 1/2 hour after working out. thanks for helping debunk some of the marketing bs coming from the supplement industry.

    • @oliverqueen9075
      @oliverqueen9075 2 года назад

      I've got his book getting strong and I've got to tell you that book is amazing. It lays out different workout plans for you and step by step every few weeks you move up in intensity and there's also lots of different sections like ask Al or his brothers do's and don'ts and lots of great tips. Most of all don't take any supplement junk that you don't need to and just drink a lot of water and work out.

    Hey, hey, hey, Al! How much protein do you need in a day?

  • @oliverlarcombe5091
    @oliverlarcombe5091 Год назад

    My typical diet day to day:
    1st meal, 3 eggs, 2 slices of ham, spinach and a banana.
    100g cashews and 1 orange (Snack)
    2nd meal, atleast 100g of chicken/beef/pork/turkey and veg
    3rd meal, atleast 100g of chicken/beef/pork/turkey and veg
    I have seen better results from strict clean eating, eating less and zero calorie counting, instead of drinking processed protein shakes, dirty bulking and counting calories. This may be due to my build (skinny & tall). I feel healthier.

    I've got a tip, something i discovered by accident. at 35 i found out i was lactose intolerant. So i dropped dairy, but I really like a bit of mint yoghurt with lamb and curry. Tried a few varieties of lactose free milk and yoghurt and found them a lot sweeter than normal. Even my wife who liked a bit of sugar in coffee dropped sugar after using lactose free milk. Best part is there is no added sweetners or sugars, it's just the lactose enzyme breaking the sugars down that makes it taste sweeter.

    On an OMAD schedule you don't eat anything for 23 or 24 hours. But Al, you eat a small amount in the afternoon prior to the big meal so that isn't an OMAD diet? Hiw does one cramp enough calories in one meal especially if the eating window may be 1 hour?

    But I guess that when you eventually eat your daily meal, the serving is huge? If not, it sounds like you are getting by on 1,000-1,200 calories a day? Which seems a little low to me.

    Another great video, Al! 🦾 I'd like to ask you a question. A chain is as strong as its weakest link. And you can be strong only if you are strong both physically and mentally. So how do you stay positive and cope with hard times? Sometimes I feel down and won't workout even though I know it would make me feel much better.

    • @And1Mell
      @And1Mell 2 года назад +1

      In a case like that, I will myself to exercise, because I know from experience I feel better after. In other words I use discipline, which is more reliable than motivation. Has worked for me for in 38 years of life as an adult.
      If you are suffering from depression however, you may seriously want to look at your diet. Bacterial overgrowth and chemicals in food can seriously affect mood. My wife has been struggling with depression all her life. It took her a long time to figure out that she has an extremely limited tolerance to fiber. Some plant based foods are worst than others, but in general give her a good serving of daily vegetables and she suffers from full blown depression within 4 days.
