malkman's hair is consistent and reliable.
like his music
lol...true dat. At 52 he really should be bald but I guess writing all those great songs saved his hair
That version of Shiggy is so nice I think I might go for a walk now.
There's no finer songwriter of the last 20 years. Thank you Stephen.
I feel like you'd appreciate Alex G a lot!
Mitski and Frank Ocean though
Two words - Aaron Freeman
bradford cox
@@TheHackman44 gene ween is better
can’t name anything more musically satisfying than the nonchalance in his voice
Hearing Trigger Cut for the first time in a while is exactly what I needed. Lovely, lovely, lovely.
could not agree more
Such a unique, beautiful sometimes fragile voice. Played watery domestic in my sixth form common room when it came out and he's still just as vital and exciting.
Malkmus is a songwriter's songwriter.
he's also a song lover's songwriter
I dreamed today that i went to a Pavement concert. The Venue was empty and the stage resembled an scaffolding. Here started playing although no musician was there to be seen. Then they all appeared through different holes at the scaffolding's net and sat on an empty table on the floor. I also sat, right across Malkmus and they all looked happy and focused on the music coming through some speakers although none was playing. When the voice part came Stephen started nodding his head to the others as if asking them to start singing. Nobody did, so he started looking directly at me and i realized he was asking me to start singing. And i went for it, all in and felt such happiness as i realized i was nailing it that i just woke up.
I didn't think he could keep getting better, but he has. Very inspiring to see!! Added so much sweet value to my life through his music.
Freeze the Saints has been one of my favorites forever. I'm almost more excited to hear that than Trigger Cut. Done is good but done well is so much fucking better.
Middle America is so beautiful.
This set literally got rid of my hiccups. Love you Malkmus so much.
MALKMUS' HICCUP REMEDY.
I need a malkmus experimental industrial techno album
MLKMS 2.0
Have you heard his new one? What are your other two wishes?
The irony of this comment 10 months later is pretty surprising. Nice call.
make your own with his music as inspiration!
I need an Adam Fitzgerald yodeling album.
malkmus playing at a church.
one thing i didn't know i needed
church on white
Riffin' in this church, I just might convert.
I saw him play at an old church with The Jicks in Indianapolis a few years back. Great show.
It's a rectory, i.e. where the priest or priests would have lived, also called a presbytery in Catholic land.
Sounds as good as he ever has. Malkmus still putting out tasty tasty jams
I must have seen this video 40 times, incredible performance
so effortlessly cool. love it
12-string trigger cut - hellz yeah
Captivating, brilliant songwriter. Still as cool as ever
Awesome thank you Pitchfork and Stephen Malkmus for sharing. Always Good to see and hear that guitar being played by such a Plucky Strummer. Drone Coma 4 Life and thats a long nap but so worth it
Stephen Malkmus please do an album with Laetitia Sadier/Stereolab. This is something I have always wanted.
25 years of your voice and not a day old
Stefan Bowers + regular smoker. Truly a prince
THANK YOU. Looking forward to the tour.
The Feels!...Such a great writer!...So good at taking You with him
Malkmus acoustic is gold!
Malkmus is... unmatchable!!!
oh man Trigger cut at the end !!!! what thu what ! loved it so much .
The Malkman delivers again, 25+ years and counting, no letdown.
Refute really is a song for the ages. Brilliant
Merci pour ce beau moment !
I love how he still sounds the same like he did 26 years ago 😍
tricks are everything to me
basement borough tapes until it's free
Gemville. Thank you Malk you are the goat
Mentor and muse, yet a boy within a man within a clever boy within a wise man. He always seems so sad, with an inside joke secret that keeps him happier than we know. This set was pure intimate splendor! The only thing better than it being acoustic, is if I was sitting against the wall, opposite those windows.
This is seriously the most beautiful comment I've ever read, and I mean it.
That was very nice of you to say. Thanks!
Somehow it's a shame we can't all evolve and yet keep and nourish all the freshness of youth.
Hooray for Stephen and kin!
Freeze the saints, such a subtlety. A charm.
Trigger Cut is my fav song ever
Chris Thile has done a great job in carrying on the franchise of one of the best 2 hour live radio broadcasts on the air today.
ABSOLUTEEELY GREAT
no words to say how great this is might equal for me the first time I listened to Pavement back what is it now 25 years or so what and 12 string requires fierce fingers
Toujours aussi excellent!
My favorite video on RUclips
this dude is like a fine wine that continues to get better with age #guitargod #rockgod #altgod
15:42 - Gothic Stephen. BTW 16:09 and this is the point where it starts to get SERIOUSLY beautiful..
Fantastic followup to the Yo La Tengo session
This was rad! Thanks
Oh this is too good!!!
Stephen should make an acoustic solo album. He’s such a good musician.
it wasn't completely solo, but you've listened to Traditional Techniques, haven't you? Splendid stuff.
I love how he counts himself in ;)
I do that. Doesn't everyone do that? Serious question.
Sounds so good.
Stephen knows all the cool chords. 😎
Love it Love it Love it
This was very good.
wonderful god job wahoo brother fellow stephen greta stuff thanks pitchforks too
Brilliant.
Oh my lord, this made me cry so hard
Trigger Cut would sound good on any type of instrument. Great tune
Alex chilten back frem the grave ! Joy 🤩
Holy crap so good
Yo, Malkmus, cool songs!!!
been feeling musically uninspired all day. Just picked up my 12er and googled stephen malkmus acoustic to find this and he's got a 12er out. noice. Studying this vid for sure
"that was pretty good" love it
awesome !
Solid silk is a real sweet song
Absolutely insane
Bottom line, Malkmus rocks no matter what he's doing.
19:08
You go, malkman!!
Kim Gordon is on the album version of Refute, can't wait to hear it!
That Gibson is a magical pack.
0:32 SM has become Thom Yorke, wow
This upcoming album is gonna be an all timer
Malkmus' pronunciation of 'feminine' rivals Andy Partridge's 'umbilical' for best arbitrary macron award
Thanks
Very badass
Arrogance meets insecurity. Stephen Malkmus... one of America's most brilliant guitarists. Even Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead has mad respect for Stephen Malkmus. Personally, I love his music.
when it gets to trigger cut, i'm on the floor.
Great songs and nice sneakers.
Met him in Portland after he played a tribute show to DCB. About 30 people there. Nice guy and the best American songwriter of the last 50 years
maravilhoso, ganhei meu dia
Exatamente!
Ficou lindo 🙌🏻🇧🇷
Shiggy Acoustic 👌
those last 5 seconds with Malkmus walking down the stairs definitely caught me off guard, dude
I need to play catch up on the Malkmus sound....now seems like a good time to do so.
An American Master.
"that was pretty good" amen
Pfffff Monstrueux !
I think I might prefer acoustic Shiggy. Those chords + on a 12 string are gorgeous
and the contrast between acoustic and electronic interludes is cool. Wonder if that's relating to the rumoured electronic album
Matt rumored eletronic album? never heard of.
gus weatherfield you don't have a silver jews profile pic tho
Adrien Koo it's the catcher in the rye, mate. the hunting hat.
Some rumours from the Stephen Malkmus forum. the new album thread
You can also see a full song if you search "@dronecoma dishing" on google. =Back when he opened for Animal Collective. official Malk site said it was a "unique solo performance of material never before performed live"
Matt that's sick, dude. I'd like to see a Low-like album by malkmus. he's a great songwriter.
wow!
Seeing him play makes me want to write better.... too good
19chicago95 he has always made it look so effortless .. but we all know making things look easy is hard work.
Freeze the Saints!
Tricks are everything to me
Shalah lah lah lah is the most significant
Hero!
New Malkmus? Yes please. 12 string naturally reverberating with great sound production in a church? And minimal flubs?? Sure!
Peppered with electronic weirdness and his hallmark literate sensibilities :)
I've heard more good tracks on this new album than all of Wigout - super happy about that - Middle America in particular -
Waiting for that Ableton composed Kraut Loop Clip album.....
Just came out
16:05 freeze the saints 19:11 trigger cut
freeze the saaaints!!
so much bong smoke in the air
geeeniooooo!
