Thank you Mike,😊 for taking us along on this engine repair. I know the job would have been much easier if you didn't have a camera in one hand most of the way...and thank you Bill for the assist 🙂
That makes perfect sense on the reason to run Mack’s! It makes your life so much easier when you know how to wrench on it. Saves a bunch of time and money on gettin her back on the road.
Gee it's nice Bill helping and not giving you a hard time with all the extra mouth workothers give you I know it's friendly banter but can get on your nerves sometimes as one of my mates does it to me when working togeather
Cutting Edge Engineering just had this same problem on his 50 year old Mad Max yard crane. Their channel is more about being a heavy equipment machine shop. But he does all of his own mechanic work. Really great stuff. Thanks for the video
you stop driving before it got beond repair and got the know how to repair it 👍. just been working on cars myself I guess the MACK parts are heavy things.
Mike , this was impressive . I can't imagine what a Mack dealer would charge for doing this job . I also can't imagine having a truck with a head replaced and back running in two days .
Once again you show us how you stay in business and keep the fleet running. Nice job Mike. I'm sure it wasn't the fix you wanted to do but having the ability to do it saved your company many dollars again. Thanks for sharing and as someone else already said it would have been easier to do this without the camera but we appreciate you taking us along for the ride!
Watching this, took me back to when I was a kid helping my Uncle work on his trucks. He would think out loud at what needed to be done next and I would make sure I did what ever he wanted.
Thank you mìke for taking all the of us on this engine rebuild and taking time to talk us through what happened to it and how you are going to fix it 👍 👍 👍
Great Project Mike, working at the dealership really made the difference. Saved you big dollars in the repair costs. Can't wait until it cranks over again.
I have to take my hat off to you doing this job and making sure we can see everything that you are doing, it must be a real pain making sure we can see, while you are doing a difficult job, it just shows how much you care about your subscribers.👍👍🇬🇧
Wow! I wouldn't know where to start, on a project like this! I'd mess way more up than was wrong with it to start with! Great to have reliable friends like Bill, who are there for you when you need them. Thanks, Bill & Mike! Lee
You obviously take excellent care of your equipment. We know breakdowns happen and can be expensive and time consuming to fix. You definitely know your trucks and that is a plus. All the little tricks you show on your videos are helpful. Thanks much for sharing.
I followed all of that, you are in deep for a repair. It's expensive but a dealership would be so much more! I know you know that since you used to work for one. My congrats to you for having us in the loop to see you repair the Mack.
Ole girl "Mack" is pissed just like my ole lady, everytime I bring a new lady home She gets mad and blows a gasket too. You gotta let Mack know she is not being replaced. It has feelings too.
Hey Mike. Watching you take those heads apart took me back to my teen years when my friends and me worked on our cars. One big difference, we used extra permaseal to take care of those gaps. Lol It's good fun to watch someone with know how work on engines. Ed from Chicago 🙂
Sometimes you get to a certain point and you have to make a decision, finish your in frame Mike, your at that point young man lol love your videos best wishes to you and yours
Excellent proof of being particular about what you buy pays off! You have the experience and correct tools for the job and that is priceless. The puppy dog will be back in good shape soon, It's in good hands.
You explained it really well. For peace of mind it is always better to do a job right the first time. It gets more expensive to have to do a job twice.
Its a workhorse in your fleet from what we see in your videos, perfectly normal for problems to apear from time to time and you are the perfect person to take care of them from what we know about your background you told us. Keep it up, carry on
Mike, one time by chance I fixed my lawn mower and was so proud of myself 😂. Impressive skills to do all your own repairs, thanks for an educational vid. Cheers !
Good video Mike👍🏻 Can’t wait to see you put it back together and see it hauling equipment again. I like that truck and I’m glad you have no intentions of getting rid of it.
Tanks for loosing or taking the time BUT explaining why and what your doing! It is soo intriguing and interesting to see a true mechanical craftsman working his trade and his expanded knowledge to meet the challenge. Again thank you Sir!
After hearing the noise then looking it over realizing it was a head and gasket problem that's when DP looked at the camera (like in the movie Airplane) and said what a pisser 😆 I have a lot of respect for people like Bill still getting it done That's a lot more than I can say for myself
You take on challenges through out your work. In order to beat those you need to have some reliability. For you that’s knowing your equipment the way you do. Just because it isn’t new or a certain brand, doesn’t matter! Keeping doing you!!! Thanks for bringing us along!!!
Not a simple task and good you know what you are doing. Interesting to watch the disassembling of the engine to get to the failure and explaining it. Great video.
Thanks for explaining what is going on sir, nice having Bill as a back up help also. Thank you to him also. Just really enjoy your videos. When I seen the puppy dog sick, thought it did too much celebrating for your birthday. Lol, Happy Belated Birthday sir.
Is your phone was going off constantly (kept lighting up) during the first Timelapse. The joys of being a business own and a popular guy on top of that. 😮💨🤣🤣🤣
I agree DP, that's been a good truck for you. You get it fixed, and keep running it. I don't care what people say, Mack is a good truck, up here in Maine, you couldn't swing a cat, without hitting one. Your sticking with what you know, and it's working for you
Awesome that you have the knowledge and know how to diagnose, disassemble and root out the problem. Diesel school really paid off over and over again.😊
Everyone needs Bill. 'I was looking for something to do today. I can always call on you...' Ha. Nice one Bill. Good job. Head off, liner out, parts ordered, reassemble. With the wind behind you this can be back on the road in a couple of days.
Your "little puppy dog" was sicker than you thought. He needed some major surgery. I'm very impressed with your knowledge on Macks so you could do so much of the work yourself. Labor costs are so high. I never realized how many parts were in an engine!! I hope your truck lasts you for many more years, with no more major problems.
Seeing you work on repairing your equipment is very refreshing. I realize that it would be better for the bottom line, not to have to go through this process, however, I get the impression that you care about the job that you do - and it shows by the way that you repair the equipment you depend on. Wishing you the best. Peace.
I think you missed the part were he said. If I was sending this truck off to Auction He would just throw a head gasket in and be done with it. But that may last a day or 2 a week or 2 or maybe 5 years. Yes it will also last forever if not used
Happy birthday DP. I enjoyed this video, mostly because it was you doing it and not me. 😂 Those Bulldogs are rock solid trucks for sure ! God bless y’all!
Sure was nice to have Bill there to help get the heads off. You did one hell of a job working from the bottom up to get the piston and liner out. That's one major under-taking. Good work and I wouldn't have a clue about tearing the engine down to do all that work. You have a heen knack for getting issues resolved. I hope there's nothing more to get the Mack running good and steady. Enjoyed the entire video, as always. Bid thumbs-up for a job well done. 👍🏽🤠 5/2/23
Mike you truly are very lucky you are so skilled I really enjoyed this video can't wait for the rebuild ,and Bill is no stranger to the tools is he a mechanic to like you very impressive mate , Cheers Kym Adelaide
Mike, I have always been envious of you having “Jerry” (seasoned veteran of the dirt moving realm) running your equipment, and the interactions with him…, now I am “green” with envy that are able to call on a seasoned (mechanic) gentleman, in “Bill” to help you out. I know you aren’t helpless in the shop, you have great skill & knowledge…, but it is always nice to have that second set of eyes on scene. Great video, Thank you sir. P.S., 1,000,000 miles is a testament the engine, general maintenance etc., but they just don’t run forever. With your repair plans, you know that truck will be running reliably for many, many more miles…
I know you have the knowledge Mike but Bill was some great help that made your fix allot easier and faster. Always nicer to be able to do the fix yourself plus saving a bunch of dollars! Hope your young viewers learned a bunch from this video👍
Howdy Mike it was a sad morning when I heard the Mac had a head cold but I know you will put the healing process to work and before to long he’ll be back out on the road hauling your equipment again 👍😎🇺🇸NY
Days like this are why the people that complain about the cost of parts and labor should remain silent and appreciate someone with the knowledge and skills to complete such repairs.
DP is blessed to have the knowledge to do most of his own work. I suspect his dad is watching over and guiding him daily. Cheers DP!
that knowledge saves him a gigantic amount of money. I wonder how much it would cost to have someone do it? $5k... $10k?
And Bill is amazing also!
Thank you Mike,😊 for taking us along on this engine repair. I know the job would have been much easier if you didn't have a camera in one hand most of the way...and thank you Bill for the assist 🙂
My thoughts exactly.
As the saying goes, "Work with what you know." The Mack is the truck you know. Thank goodness you had someone there to help you.
That makes perfect sense on the reason to run Mack’s! It makes your life so much easier when you know how to wrench on it. Saves a bunch of time and money on gettin her back on the road.
I'm as mechanical as a hammer. I do enjoy watching people that know what their doing. Just think, if Aaron was there!
Gee it's nice Bill helping and not giving you a hard time with all the extra mouth workothers give you I know it's friendly banter but can get on your nerves sometimes as one of my mates does it to me when working togeather
Great job helping Mr Dirt Perfect Bill
25 yr old me would have thrown a Head Gasket on it.......55 yr old me knows you're doing 💯% the right thing

Bill is a good helper, he has done this before. 👍
That is a job.. It's even more of a job when you bring us along 👍👍✌️
Bill likely has forgotten more then most of us know ,really enjoy watching the old guys
x2
Always a + when you know the ins n outs of your truck , 👌🤘🤘🤘
I am sure Bill will be glad to help. We all need a Bill. Great video, and it's obvious you have the knowledge to do the job.
Cutting Edge Engineering just had this same problem on his 50 year old Mad Max yard crane. Their channel is more about being a heavy equipment machine shop. But he does all of his own mechanic work. Really great stuff. Thanks for the video
Two young men making a go with their hands and determination 👍
Million miles that’s engine is amazing looking. Thanks for the video ❤
Having a helper with knowledge is always great. Back on the road in no time.
For what it's worth, you made the right call.
MBTS picked a perfect time to get called back into work. Nice work DP. The Governor
The camera view look's like the block is in rather good shape for a million miles Mike, good on you for repairing properly. 👌
you stop driving before it got beond repair and got the know how to repair it 👍. just been working on cars myself I guess the MACK parts are heavy things.
Mike , this was impressive . I can't imagine what a Mack dealer would charge for doing this job . I also can't imagine having a truck with a head replaced and back running in two days .
At least the boss was driving when it happened!cap’n kleeman won’t have this one to live down.
Great video Mr Dirt Perfect

Watching this, took me back to when I was a kid helping my Uncle work on his trucks. He would think out loud at what needed to be done next and I would make sure I did what ever he wanted.
I don’t know about everyone else but I had to pause this for a bathroom break when you started draining the anti freeze. 🤣
I feel your pain, I know exactly what your going through. Time consuming and sometimes frustrating. Damn
@17:30 the way that head spun out of the engine bay was just gorgeous😍😆🇦🇺
Thank you mìke for taking all the of us on this engine rebuild and taking time to talk us through what happened to it and how you are going to fix it 👍 👍 👍
You do a great job explaining what you are doing. I would never have the need to rebuild an engine but fun to watch.
Nothing Better than doing it yourself, great show, Oh are you Painting the Bus, LOL
Great Project Mike, working at the dealership really made the difference. Saved you big dollars in the repair costs. Can't wait until it cranks over again.

You are very fortunate to be able to fix the ole dog in many ways looking forward to hear it purring again great watch DP 👍👋🇨🇦
You obviously take excellent care of your equipment. We know breakdowns happen and can be expensive and time consuming to fix. You definitely know your trucks and that is a plus. All the little tricks you show on your videos are helpful. Thanks much for sharing.

Great explanation of the problem Mike and likewise a good repair plan. Nice to see it all done well! Kudos to you!
I followed all of that, you are in deep for a repair. It's expensive but a dealership would be so much more! I know you know that since you used to work for one. My congrats to you for having us in the loop to see you repair the Mack.
About 160-220 an hour depending on where your at in the nation. Adds up quick
👍👍👍👍👍 DT got his mechanic hat on today bring back his memory to his younger. Mechanical days.
Ole girl "Mack" is pissed just like my ole lady, everytime I bring a new lady home She gets mad and blows a gasket too. You gotta let Mack know she is not being replaced. It has feelings too.

You explained it really well. For peace of mind it is always better to do a job right the first time. It gets more expensive to have to do a job twice.
Yes we don’t have time to do it right but we have time to do it over! Old saying that I used to hear on the job site. Good old days
Very cool. I love it that the big diesels can be repaired like that without pulling the engine. Very slick. Thanks for sharing!
Its a workhorse in your fleet from what we see in your videos, perfectly normal for problems to apear from time to time and you are the perfect person to take care of them from what we know about your background you told us. Keep it up, carry on
Appreciate you taking us along while your rebuilding the puppy dog. Enjoy the videos
I love those Mack trucks!! I drove a CH613 with an 18 speed. Thanks for sharing DP!!
Bill is a pretty handy helper!!!!
Mike, one time by chance I fixed my lawn mower and was so proud of myself 😂. Impressive skills to do all your own repairs, thanks for an educational vid. Cheers !
You’re an amazing mechanic and you’re skills shine through. It will be good for another million miles.
Good video Mike👍🏻 Can’t wait to see you put it back together and see it hauling equipment again. I like that truck and I’m glad you have no intentions of getting rid of it.

Sorry you had too do the work been there you will feel better for having done it
Talking about doing the work and actually doing the work are 2 different things. Thx Mike for proving your skills and being true to yourself!
That was a long six hours, started in daylight and end in the dark. :) Thank you and have a great week.
Morning DP and friends
wrench in one hand and phone in the other LOL its so amazing to watch 2 people who know what they are doing. I like new
Not a simple task and good you know what you are doing. Interesting to watch the disassembling of the engine to get to the failure and explaining it. Great video.
Between you and c&c I feel like a full fledged diesel mechanic. Thanks for the great videos in the shop!
Great job on the diagnostics and tear down. Nice to see Bill helping you out. Good video. Thank you DP. 👍

You are blessed… you caught it very early..
It's a bummer, but I believe in fix it once right not twice wrong.

Had the same thing happen to my Mack. Good ole trucks, the newer ones not so much.
Watching Mike's cell phone announcements ping in every couple seconds in warp speed was hilarious! You are an important man my friend! 😂
Never
Stops
Happy birthday DP. I enjoyed this video, mostly because it was you doing it and not me. 😂 Those Bulldogs are rock solid trucks for sure ! God bless y’all!

I'm betting a former co-worker at the Mack Dealership.
Mike,

DP i think you made all the right decisions. Much better safe then sorry.
Glad the vet was able to get the puppy dog all the help she needed.
Thanks for the videos! It's a good thing you can fix that yourself. I'm sure that would be a pricey repair.
Howdy Mike it was a sad morning when I heard the Mac had a head cold but I know you will put the healing process to work and before to long he’ll be back out on the road hauling your equipment again 👍😎🇺🇸NY
What I do follow, Mike, is you’re a honest, hard working and talented guy with great people around you!
Thanks appreciate that
Looks like Bill has done this as many times as you there Mike. Very good explanation there, thanks. Great job done well.
Nothing wrong with the older Macks. When I was a kid, all this company had were Macks and Brockways and they were tough trucks.
Days like this are why the people that complain about the cost of parts and labor should remain silent and appreciate someone with the knowledge and skills to complete such repairs.
Mike happy birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 you. Mine is om the 5th. Really like your channel been watching you for a few yrs now.
That was a job! Wow!
