Omg! That’s what I wanted to hear today! Thank you so much love! I’m about to enjoy the military with an international college degree in teaching. They already accepted so I hope in the future I can apply for an officer position!!! ❤️❤️
When I say God spoke to me today through you ma’am.. I love this encouragement and the honesty you’re giving! 💖
Thank you! So happy you were encouraged from my story! God bless! 💕
Amazing video! Currently in DEP awaiting my ship out date! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for making this video. I've been struggling for awhile about waiting and then going straight for the officer position or enlisting. You made great points that I appreciate, primarily explaining that you could always transition to officer at a later time. I'm at my halfway point of earning my Associates degree and wanted to rush into transferring to a 4 year college to earn my bachelor's.
your positive spirit is refreshing, I enjoyed the video stay blessed!!!
Thank you for watching!
I've looked through so many videos about enlisted vs. officer or Navy OCS etc. and This was the first video I've seen about someone speaking from experience about enlisting w/ a college degree. Extremely helpful video. I have a father, retired Navy Veteran but I feel like I know squat about the Navy/Military. Some people I know have became commissioned right away and others encouraging the same since I have a college degree, but like you, at this point in time, idk if I'm ready for that kind of responsibility especially when I don't really know much about that life. I'm not joining just yet but this has really helped give me some perspective
Glad that I could help you 🙏🏽
@@SigourneyRosario what do you study for the military test called Asvab
Okay girl!! Now I know I'm going enlisted. You rock! God bless. THANK YOU for your boldness in faith.
Glad I could help! 💕🙏🏽
This video was a blessing to listen to, really enjoyed it!
Wow, such good advice and clear thinking process. Thank you for the help.
AMEN sis! I love your spirit and being real. Thank you for sharing.
Glad I could help!
Great video I am in a similar circumstance!! You will be a great officer since you want to prepare yourself to lead. I believe you will do great things !!!
I understand your reason, my thinking is if they wanted you to have experience before being an officer, being an officer based on degree alone wouldn't be an option. Going through college you already have to have some degree of discipline, so that is why they are confident you'll adapt fairly quickly even with zero experience in the military
Exactly! So true!
Get the most you can in being on the tactical level, as an Airman this is your time to get your hands on equipment and do stuff.Once you get really good at stuff and you start making leadership ranks like SSgt or TSgt, you'll start supervising people and that is where your real management skills come in handy. Down the line either get your officer commission or because a Senior NCO, you will be moving up to the operation functional level. If you keep going in your career, if you make Chief or Maj or Lt Col, you'll be in the strategic planning level which is really up there if that is your goal.
So true! You did good at explaining this!
Thank you, this video gave me advice even beyond considering military. God bless.
No problem! I’m glad I could help!
Thank you so much for making this video! It was so very helpful for me to have peace of mind, patience and to Trust God with my next steps on my journey. You’re a light for the world.
You are an amazing and charming woman! ❤ thank you so much for your advice! I just graduated with a AA and thinking about going Air Guard. You are right I'll let God decide i would really like to be an officer but maybe I'm needed for something else i must be patient. God Bless you sister! Much love ❤🕊
Thank you! I wish you nothing but the best!
Soooo encouraging! I have my bachelors and will be coming in this summer enlisted.
Congrats! Super excited for you!
This video really helped me ❤️
In the same boat as you thank you for providing insight looking into joining the Air Force after college . I got a wake up call and now I’m ready to start this journey with God . Gods timing is so essential and he knows. I want to be a officer but I want to enlist first to get the experience and build and grow even more same boat I feel like I was meant to find this video . 🙏🏾
So happy I was able to help! God bless! ❤️
Great video! Couldn't have said it better myself
I enlisted in the AF in 2016 as a Pharmacy Technician with a Bachelor’s in biology (immigrant from Jamaica, wasn’t a citizen at the time), took the AFOQT in 2017 (failed it terribly. Ahahah!). Deployed to Afghanistan in 2020, then got off active duty in 2021 and switch to reserves. Got accepted to Pharmacy school in 2021, commissioned through HPSP and going back to active duty as a pharmacist in 2024. Nothing wrong with enlisting with a Bachelors (I learnt so much that propelled me to go to pharmacy school). Just always have a goal and stick with it. The AF (military in general) has various opportunities, so work with what works for you.
This gave me so much clarification. Thank you.
No problem!
This was amazing! Thank you so much💓
No problem! ❤️
Girl I felt everything you said in the video !! I’m literally in the same boat 🙃
God Bless sister! I’m a military brat, and I’m going to graduate with a bachelors this year. Going to enlist in Air Force if everything goes well. Jesus loves you 🙏🏼💙💯
Congrats! I wish you nothing but success!
Wonderful experience.
It was just awesome listening the whole journey.
God Bless you.
With love from Kenya.
Thank you for watching! God bless! 💕
Good video. Happy Holidays 2020.
Thank you! Same to you! ❤️
Girl thank you SO much for this video my application just got denied for OTS and I’ve been through the SAME thing!!!!!
God is GOOD, all the time! 🙌🏻
@@gummygirl3933 I’m so happy I could help! Best of luck to you! And yes, God is soooo good! 🙌🏽
Thank you! Your video truly blessed me
Glad I could help! ❤️
I like your positive energy and faith. I have applied to OTS twice and it hasnt worked out for me either.
As an old 73, marine, my experience is young 2nd Lt. Did not know a thing. The smart ones let the senior nco's mentor them. The know it all butter bars ended up as officer in charge of the gymn.
Exactly! Mentorship is sooo important! Thank you for your service!
Experience > money
Exactly! 👏🏽
I want to join the reserves after I graduate from college. Then move onto graduate school once I finish my first year in the service. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Good luck! I wish you nothing but the best!
Thank you for this❤️
No problem!
this makes me feel better, i have a degree too and im looking into the air force bc they seem to offer cooler careers, i was interested in the physical chalenge of the marines ocs but its too physically demanding while the jobs are not as good
I love the fact that you remind us to trust God and seek His voice even in our career. Thank you for reminding me that God has my back because I have been so anxious as to what I am to do with my life after I graduate 😢 whether to join the military so that I am not unemployed or to do what
But your video helped me to remember that regardless of the decision I make I should seek God and trust that He knows what is best for me😇
I know the Lord lead me to your video. I am graduating in about a week and I have been considering the air force ever since I was right out of high school. I have a lot of work to do with my physical fitness before I can achieve my goals but finding your video has made me excited to start my journey. I am considerably older (28) but this calling has always been with me. Everything happening in my life recently has inspired me to find God and listen to his calling for me. I really do believe that this is it. Thank you so much for your wisdom on this subject and for the excitement and spirit you moved within me with your video.
I would love to ask you more about rank when you entered and if anyone treated you differently because you came in with a degree?
Thank you so much for watching! I was not treated any different because of my rank. However, they may expect more of you due to your age. I wish you nothing but the best in your future! God bless! 🙏🏽💕
I’m 28 as well ! Don’t feel bad ! I don’t know what is sparking us at this age to join lol .
Omg I'm 28 as well and just finished my degree. I want to join the Navy.
Edit: I just realized how old these comments are. How are you guys doing these days?
Ive been heavily debating if i want to go to NCM or Officer and this video really helped me realize I gotta trust God and he'll make sure I end up in the right spot. God bless you and i hope yall are having a great day! :)
What is your college degree in?
Mine is in Elementary Education and I want to join the USAF. Everyone thinks I'm crazy for not wanting to go straight into teaching. USAF has always been something I've been interested in.
Thank you for your encouraging words and insight!
Thank you! And My degree is in Psychology
I’m a teacher too, and want to join the military as well! Lol
Girl thanks you! I have college degree from Panama! My first language is spanish so i want to become a officer but always take my time to do that! Is hard test!
Thank You. God Bless you!
Hella good video. Stay blessed fareal
Thank you for this.
Ty I been praying about this decision, now I’m confident going in with my degree head on may not be wise.
Glad I could help! ❤️
Thank you so much for posting this. I have a degree in Spanish & social work & I plan to enlist. I’m trying to figure out the best way to study for the asvab. The only job I can think of to have when I join is mental health tech. I’m trying to think of another 2. What advice do you have for people studying for asvab but are worried about the mechanics & electronic section. I’m just trying to get passed the asvab so I can overcome the hurdles of bmt & tech school.
There are so many resources available to help you to study. I would try purchasing a study book, take practice tests, and just try your best! As long as you study, you will be fine! Good luck! ❤️
Thank you!
THANK YOU 💖
No problem! ☺️ Thanks for watching!
I am in the same position too but I got medically disqualified because my recruiter for the USAF is a douchebag and so I am going into the Navy.
A good plan to see from the enlisted viewpoint but officer status is a better life.
Wow huge help! I’m facing college graduation this December and I’m in a panic. I have so much debt that I can’t even breathe thinking about it. So I have 3 questions: 1. If I Enlist in the Air Force for 4 years, my college will debt will gradually be paid off or all at once after 4 years? 2. My gf is in psychology and is thinking about joining as well, but how would her degree be used in the future with the military? 3. Can married couples be together while in the Air Force? (Idk if you know that) but any info could help.
Thank you so much and thank you for including your Faith. I love seeing that
Thanks! To pay off debt I just had to gradually pay off my students loans. And as far as married couples it just depends...I’ve seen both to where they were stationed together or separated.
Thank you for your insight, I'm considering following your lead.
Thanks! You got it! 💪🏽
Thank you for this video. I am 26 right now with a degree in Criminal Justice, work in federal law enforcement, and I really want to join the AF reserves or ANG, and I’ve heard mixed things about going enlisted with a degree vs becoming an officer. Thank you for your insight!
Glad I could help!
👋🏾hello
Thank you for your videos, what rank do you start as with your degree?
You mad beautiful thank you for the advice
Wow I have a college degree like I did my career I’m a dental hygienist like I’m good for life but I’m still going to join the Air Force but ima join the reserves so I can do both
I wish you nothing but the best!
Thank you. This helps me cope with the fact that I enlisted w/ a degree.
Happy I could help! God bless! 💕
Question how many questions are in the test? And how much time they give you and is there a book name you can give us?
I have my AA in Early Childhood Education...What are the odds of getting a waver if I have Poriasis? Thank y'all so much❤❤❤
I might go enlisted too also for the experience. Ill be getting my degree from San Diego State in December however I would be 36 years old in BMT but I have also been through a police academy before so I know all about the games they play how to walk march pt double time dress right dress etc....
I wish you nothing but the best! You got it! 💪🏽
How did it go for you brother.. ? I’m in the same boat as you .. 36 college grad, former cop, thinking of going to Air Force
It was meant for me to find this video. I just finished college with a degree in Graphic Design & Media Arts. I think ima enlist before an officer.
Thank you! I’m enlisting with a Television, Film & Media Studies. I’m conflicted if I continue the navy or the Air Force (or ROTC in grad school)
You’re Welcome! I wish you nothing but the best!
ROTC is the primary Officer accession route for commissioned officers (AFROTC, AROTC, NROTC). The service academies, OCS & other commissioning programs follow behind. It’s difficult to get selected into OCS/OTS without a service related field major. Therefore, those graduating with degrees for example in engineering, cyberspace, cyber security,, health sciences, nursing, intelligence will go top of the list. Not so much for social sciences, humanities and interdisciplinary studies. Always go for ROTC because it will be difficult to transition into OCS especially for airmen because the USAF is the smallest military service. Now, unless you’re in the navy where sailors with ratings in nuclear, avionics, engineering, intelligence, mission languages (Arabic, Mandarin, Russian & lesser languages) and etc either receive OCS or direct commissions. Also, if you’re enlisted with a grad degree in a mission related field it’s a plus. Remember that 9/11 altered the Pentagon’s global mission. And never believe recruiters because they’ll tell prospective candidates anything to lure you in. Today’s recruitment teams don’t possess bachelors degrees let alone associate degrees. Beware!
Ronald Chisholm what’s a mission related field? And How would a degree help?
When you enlist with a bachelors do you go in as a e-3 or 3-4?
Thank you 🙏🏾
no problem!
Thank you so much for making this video I’m currently at school and graduating with my bachelors is psychology in December. I was feeling down because I felt like I “needed” to join as officer because I’m my head I was thinking same as you- “why am I going to let these people tell me what do do I have a bachelors degree” honestly I felt too much pride but also don’t feel like I’m ready to become an officer at the moment. I need so much experience and I also want to pursue my masters degree while I’m active duty, will the Air Force pay for my masters degree? Also, could I enroll in any college I want or it has to be a college the military chooses? I know that reserved would probably be best but I was to experience new things and also meet new people along the way. They say it’s very hard and almost impossible to obtain a masters degree while on active duty but I really want to try it.
Hey! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the video! Yes you can get your Masters, I’m currently working on mine now
@@SigourneyRosario definitely needed that confirmation abiyta. master's degree. I am almost dobne w undergrad but I needed that push to go to grad school and the AF will help me 😭
thank you!
No problem!
Will they accept people who have a non-STEM degree?? I have a BA and MFA in writing, but I really want to join the AF over the Army or Navy.
I have a mechanical engineering degree. I went the Officer route and it was a waste of turn. The retention rate is so high (no one is leaving) that the selection rate right now is extremely low. The ended up canceling boards. The only one open was space force. And then ended up only selecting 9 people out of ALL applicant and 5 them were prior enlisted. That means they only chose 4 civilians. They might end up cancelling the next boards as well because I don't see things changing. There is will still be few jobs available just as they were last year and earlier this year.
I’ve heard others mention this as well!
I’m not sure. I would talk to a recruiter ☺️
Going green to gold isn't always guaranteed and is very competitive. I'm a big advocate for those with degrees becoming officers, especially when you factor in the huge pay difference. Even if it means waiting a year, you should still make 03 by around the same time your contract is up if you decided to enlist. But it sounds like you're happy with your decision, and that's the most important
very true!
Thank you for this. Now I’m dead set on becoming an officer and I will not enlist because my degree is finished.
I’m deciding to enlist or be an officer. If I enlist at E-4, will I have to live in the barracks? Or will I receive BAH and BAS? Although I am single with no dependents, I’d rather not live in the barracks as I am older.
It depends on your leadership and the dorm management. They will decide if you have to stay on base or off base.
What rank were you right out of BMT?
I have a B.S. degree and have considered enlisting.
I was a A1C
Hey, thanks for your video. Your speech made me think about having experience in a military.
I want to know something : even though I get enlisted with a bachelor degree, can I continue my studies to master's degree?
Yes. I was able to get my Masters degree too
Thank you
Good word.
Thank you!
Exactly I also had bachelors degree in Accounting but decided to be enlisted. Being in it for two yes now n now I’m trying to go the medical route n commission to officer
Congrats! That's great
I have a college diploma in midwifery (2 year course) with 118 credits. Is college diploma fine? Is it different with the degree if I join? What rank would I be? Thanks!
I’m not sure. You would have to speak to a recruiter
I have 3 semester left for my bs in poli sci and I want to enlist but I will be 24 is that to old? It’s been my dream to enlist since forever but life happened. Could you pellet me know about enlisting and age.
That is not too late to join! Also, I have a video discussing my experience joining at a later age and what to expect!
I heard it’s isn’t that easy to transition
May I know the age limit from going enlisted till become an officer? If I had 4 years degree, and I enlisted at 30+ and let's say I wanted to become an officer at around 38 or 39. Does it still apply ?
It just depends on how you plan to commission. Each program has a different age requirement
I read that to commission in Air Force the latest age you can commission is like 39. But for jobs like medical, chaplain and legal is at 43 if I'm correct. Right now for me I'm an E-4 and want to commission, but I don't have my degree yet and want to commission once I get MSgt.
what military branch are you part off? Air Force wont take you as an officer unless you have legal, engineering, medical, or other specialized degrees. Seems becoming an officer with just a bachelors is extremely hard now.
Air Force. And it just depends on which program you apply for. Each officer program has different requirements
What about equipment operator? Would CDL school prior make a difference?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
If I get enlisted with a bachelors or masters degree, can I apply for officer after only 1 or 2 or 3 years of service?
It depends on the program you are applying to. But honestly, most programs make you wait atleast 2 years before applying.
@@SigourneyRosario ahh got it. Thnx so much, Mam!!
AMEN!
🙌🏽
I plan on on going in for public affairs, or communications what are some steps?
I’m not sure. You may have to talk to a recruiter ☺️
Thank you
No problem!
Did you ever become an officer?
Can you pursue a second bachelors degree through the air force? Like could you take advantage of Tuition assistance while on active duty and use the GI bill when your contract ends of you got a bachelors degree before enlisting in the air force?
That’s a good question! I’m honestly not sure. I would check with the Education office
God bless you
📝 I did the same thing
It’s pretty hard to get a commission in the military. The Air Force only wants engineering degrees. They want smart people who majored and excelled in difficult degrees such as engineering degrees.
Check out my recent video on commissioning programs! It offers various ways of commissioning in the military ☺️
@@SigourneyRosario I meant for those not going into the specialty jobs (chaplain, JAG, and healthcare).
@@nordythenorthman ohhh okay!
The Navy is hurting for top quality sailors entering with bachelors degrees. However, you’ll come in as a E-3 seaman. Whereas, if you entered the army, you’ll be a E-4. If you get a navy mission critical rating (job) commissioning is a probable. Especially if you go submarines, engineering, computers, cryptography, 9/11 mission critical languages & others. Just be a highly proficient sailor w/o problems. The Navy has a strong history of taking highly capable sailors & sending through the commissioning pipeline. If the navy isn’t for you go Army critical MOSs in intelligence, computers, engineering, communications languages and so forth.
... because you can't understand the pay scale? Listen to your Daddy!
Weren’t you stationed at Tyndall AFB?
Yes ma’am!
I knew I recognized you. I was stationed there too at LRS.
Did you start as an E4?
I started as a E3
No one knows how to treat and use their NCO’s better than NCO’s. Being an NCO before being an officer is the way!
Going in Enlisted. Degree in Biomed and Spanish.
Niceeeeee!
@Raymundo How’s that going?
@@TheTrueHomieG im still waiting...
Couldn’t even go open contract.
@@raymundoserrano5140 dang.. do you think it’s because of a lot of people trying to join?? I have a Biomed degree as well and also thinking of joining Enlisted...
Can I join with foreign degree ?
I’m not sure. You would have to talk to a recruiter. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to accept it though.
Are you Officer now?
saw you coming being enlisted with a degree the military pays you less
If you enlist with a bachelors degree do you start off as a E3 or E4 ?
I started off as a E3
What is your rank?
SSgt
Did you come in as an SSgt or did you have to wait to make Ssgt?
Thank you!
