The “Stand Up” strategy seems counter productive by still kissing the companies ass they had months! We all should go at the same time and stop being soft.
In 2009 GM and Delphi gutted salaried retirement under the cover of “bankruptcy protection” that let them put workers last, and then went on to make billions but never made workers whole. So it’s easy to see Fain’s point. Except that in 2009 GM and Obama let the taxpayer top up union pensions and put tens of billions into a VEBA trust that protects retirement health benefits. So ultimately there’s only so much money to go around … and the UAW puts itself first while other stakeholders - including other unions - get table scraps.
I do believe it was more than just retirement funds that was gutted. Didn't many employees get layed-off while also having thier current employees gets their wages cut to two-teir wages and newer employees even less so? Not only that but the fall of health insurance also occured. And even then, your argument states, "While the companies themselves experienced great profits in return for the union's sacrifices, they also benefitted themselves by recieving future returns promised such as pensions and VEBA." However, after 2012, which should of been when their pay-cut ended, it did not return. Not only that, but Detroit failed to meet pension plans by 2013. So while I do believe other unions should also be recognized and paid more, its seems unfair to describe or imply the UAW as "spoiled" because, from what it seems, they are owed quite a lot for assisting in Frankensteining the Big Three. Their return to COLA and a pay increase matching what Ford's CEO pay increase was doesn't seem so unfair now that they are out of bankruptcy for 10 long years.
I guess they should just lie down. People need to be angry at the company. *not* the union protecting their members and their families. Laws must be changed so other unions and the public aren’t left by holding the bag.

Screw them do you now how many retried have died because cancers shit that we had to put up with I have a lot of friends that are dying every every day of cancer because of what was in the air we breathe they new it but did not care they used to say if you don't like it quit go get them thanks
The workers are Blessed to have you as their leader thank you for looking out for my son!
I am not a member of a union- mostly due to their almost nonesxistence here in oklahoma.. however, i have been a very vocal supporter of the institution in general, and have spent much energy and countless hours correcting the misinformation and lies spread by the elitist anti-union leadership that dominates local and state govt here.. i am constantly defending the honor of union membership, pointing out all the benefits workers today take for granted, that we are only able to enjoy thanks to the courage and determination of previous generations of union workers..
I just wanted to tell u how much i admire the work u are doing on behalf of the American workers.. i dont know u personally, but from all ive heard, read and watched about u seems to indicate a desperately needed return to integrity in union leadership.. thank u for ur dedication and determination to deliver what is right and fair to the members of ur union..
I wish u good luck.. im rooting for u all..
One of My Heroes....!
God please protect this Man!
I Have FAITH in GOD and SOLIDARITY
As a Union person, I wish you luck. This will be interesting if it goes past a month. I have no idea if it will or won't. I wish Unions fought for retirees. Our doesn't and don't know of any that do. Our retirees can't vote. Rendering our concerns irrelevant. I hope yours is a different case. Good luck.
You got your free ride. So what are you complaining about??? These workers don't even get pensions
@@gregorylyon1004 Sounding a little envious there buddy. I didn't know UAW workers had no pensions. I happen to know Ford workers how do have a pension and are still on that pension? I guess you wish those Ford workers didn't have those pensions.
@@twoweeledsoto6072 Well I don't really believe that anyone who has a pension that the pension should pay a spouse as well. I don't think that it's an employers responsibility to pay someone who never stepped foot in the facility. That's a shit deal for employers.
@@twoweeledsoto6072 And from what I understand is that from 2008 forward, the new hires don't get offered a pension. They get a 401 instead
@@gregorylyon1004 that's where companies are going now. 401k plus matching some of contributions. 6% match I think.
Here we go again. Tough talk then it is walked back. I'm guessing the Big 3 get to pick which facilities strike too. Sad.
Its targeted for a reason not use all strike funds up
Right
Trolls.
Y’all need to show that y’all are backing us because we are small but we still pay our dues but it seems like the uaw is all for the big companies and not the small companies
I hope the smaller companies will get taken in and helped too. Solidarity.
Bring jobs back to the U.S. America First😊
B WHA HA, Bring jobs back to america for people who just crossed into OUR nation from mexico. Yeh, Like a Rock
@@deepakfineberg Na, send them back. Close the borders. We don't need them here. They can make their own homelands better instead of sapping ours. "Economic migrants" are fancy words for low intelligence, low impulse control, cheap labor for (((globalist))) multinationals.
Local 3063 standing with you. Stay strong and united
Glory to God! Thank you for the fight! Big Corporate has gotten too big and unrealistic.
Working with no contract that's bs...
SOLIDARITY ✊
I'm in TN and I can't get in the uaw but yes sir i do believe you will make a change it may not be for me and our company but I'm sure it will for yours
Don't let them lay people off, send everyone out at one time! There isn't sub pay without a contract, anyone getting laid off will get screwed because you didn't stick to the promise you made our members... we back you Fain, don't give in now when it matters!
Strike pay and marvin?
@@shawnfoi1655 ???
Blow through 800 million in 2 months if we all strike. Then next contract we will only have gotten back 50 million. wouldn't even be able to send everyone out on strike for 1 week. Would only be able to pay 90,000 of the 150,000 workers next contract for just 1 week. We would get absolutely screwed.
@@shawnfoi1655 can’t recive strike pay if we are laid off due to a parts shortage caused by the strike, additionally the contract would be expired therefore we also wouldn’t receive any sub pay benefits…don’t get me wrong strategy wise it sounds great but what it would do to the membership is another story…..
I don’t think we would have to be out the full 11 weeks it would take to blow through that $800million especially if all three walked at once like never before, one would cave (ford seems closest to what we are asking) and the rest would follow suit….but opinions are like assholes, regardless I’ll stand with my brothers and sisters in solidarity and support the decision international makes,Shawn deserves a chance to show what he can do n why we elected him to lead 😊
Keep fighting the good fight UAW from another exploited laborer and fellow brother in the struggle STRIKE !
Ford Motor Company announced that it is projected to lose $4.5 billion from electric vehicles this year, despite increased revenue.
What about cola for retried people
Preach the truth Shawn, we had enough corporate lies.
Local 600 strong

This should spread like a wild fire throughout America UNION OR NOT .. Everyone should stand up NOW.
Thank you for doing this.
I’m glad he mentioned the “economy,” word media uses. I always wonder, “Who exactly are they talking to?” Not me! (Unless you count it as propaganda) Talking to the billionaire class is a big waste of air time and *nobody* wants to hear it anymore. Go UAW!
He pulled the trigger to quick! WE WERE MAKING PROGRESS!
Strategic 👍🏼👍🏼✊🏼!
IF GOD IS WITH US... WHO CAN BE AGAINST US ?!!! LET'S GO U.A.W. !!!
Thank you for loving God❤!
Increase in car prices resulting in less cars sold. BRILLIANT
I love thatbyou are a good fearing man. I wish Uaw the best
Corporate greed needs to stop! If a strike is the only way…then do it!
Corporate greed? Union greed chased all our jobs offshore to places like China..
6% is still more then majority of work force outside of Auto.
if u don't work for big 3, bye bye, ur opinion doesn't matter.
The average workforce doesn't deal with the laborious, physically demanding work Auto workers deal with either. Some ppl get hired and quit the same day because their bodies can't take the work.
Wage increases have went up 17% in America the last 4 years which is why fast food hires at 15 dollars an hour. Autoworkers have taken it on the chin without traditional COLA.
