Bruno Danese Farshad is that u?
I have 216,000 Miles on my E92 M3 and I still absolutely love it.
phrozen06 My God that's a lot! How many times have the throttle actuators gone?
I know it's been awhile but I'm seriously thinking about buying one and daily driving it. What was maintenance like? And insurance for your state? And just general upkeep?
Nice! Any big repairs?
How many miles now?

i see e92 m3 in the title, i hit "like"
No doubt that the F8x are way faster but the E9x sounds so much better and the steering is better. The fact that Nick felt sad trading in his E92 and doesn't miss his F82 speaks volumes.
2 series also has crap steering
Jonathan Kim new steering is better
What do you mean by the steering being better? I don't think it is.
Teflon Don hydraulic vs electric powered steering
doesn't mean it's better. I have both an e46 and an f30, they both feel really good to me in their own ways. But I do gotta say that the F30's is better.
im getting an e93 m3 soon :). I treated my lyme disease and Im ready to drive this sweet beast! Love it!
im so glad i just bought my e92 m3. they are amazing. N/A s65 engine is so amazing.
Xan Millar smh you have an S65 motor
lol sorry half asleep its late here in Aus xD
Xan Millar all good mate enjoy your car!
E90 M3 with a stick is my dream car!!
BlitzkriegRap i have one 2011. never gonna sell and it is so rare in canda
I would love an E90 M3 with cloth seats, no sunroof, no iDrive, and with a manual.
BlitzkriegRap buy one then bro. Cheapest they’re ever going to be.
Thank you! I've been asking for the review of this one for a long time!
Any manual E92 is a future classic. Last of the elegant analog BMWs.
scanspeak00 analog BMW? Dafuk are you smoking?
That car has a fuck load of electronic shit
scanspeak00 already too far gone
But way less than the videogame F30.
scanspeak00 way less? In which way?
The e92 had as much electronic as they could possibly cram into a car. Seriously, EVERYTHING is electronically controlled.
Want a mechanical car? Go back the first M3.
Bruno Danese e30 and e36
3 cars later since I parted with my E92 M3 5 years ago and I still miss it
A Nick video. Good start to a Friday!
Great vid! Loved my E92M in the year that I've had it. You're right about the market, actually about to sell it for pretty much the same price I got it for. Crazy
the seat belt iron! I remember, this is how I first found your channel when I needed a fix in my 335i. Still watch every video since!
I'm on my second E92 and I've never had an issue with the electronics, throttle actuators, seat belt hander, or MPG. My 2008 had over 90k miles when I sold it and my 2013 has just over 50k now. Both were 6 speeds and both averaged 22-23mpg
Is this a troll? Lol
I've been recently giving one of these another thought, and my God.....I must say this sounds PHENOMENAL!!!
Last naturally aspirated M3. That’s the main reason why they will appreciate in value
Great video as always Nick
I love your videos , they are informative and very entertaining. You spoke about the "leetha" seats but that wasn't on your list.
Another great review Nick!
Nice video! I just bought a 2011 Comp package in Jerez black also and with 6speed;) has Miestershaft GT2 full titanium exhaust on it already and I love it! I came from e46 M3.
Lmao my dad has same thing same exhaust but it's a dual clutch transmission
great video. I have a e92 335i and agree with just about everything you said. I pulled the fuse for the seatbelt hander and switched the left paddle shifter to be pull to down shift.
Is nobody going to mention the hair at 3:45? Lord....
Is that Nick Murray or Nick Cage? :O
He looked like Edd China
That sixth bar on sport, traction control off tip made my day
going to try it out after work
Great Video! I love the E92 M3! I can recommend the M3 to anyone. It's the best car I've ever had! I had hardly any problems so far.
Love your videos Nick! Keep it up. I'm looking to get an E92 within the next 3 years. Hopefully they don't shoot up too much by then.
Have you got one?
Nick, love your videos. I owned a 2009 E92 M3 for 2 years now. 7-DCT, Alpine white, painted black wheels, carbon fiber kidney grilles and hand brake. alcantera steering wheel. It's a gas guzzler and it'd expensive for a college student to run. But I love her almost as much as my girlfriend. Wish you could see my car and drive her haha.
Wow! listen to that engine, beautiful sound.
I recently picked up a new daily driver. I had the E92 M3 on my mind for 2 years. I finally got to drive one. I was pretty happy and everything. The one I was looking was a little beat up. I scared the sales man when I drove it lol. Anyway, I ended up test driving a 435xi right after and It shocked me. The 435 fit all the things i needed or wanted in my next daily. Fast forward to 3 weeks, I have slight buyers remorse. lol. That E92 M3 is a beast. Maybe if i sell my 1991 850, i will pick one up. But i do agree, this is the last true M car. I test drove a slightly modded M4, and it shocked me a lot, but i still preferred the E92 M3 compared to the M4.
So the 435 is a great car. Did you get an automatic? If you did and it’s not a Sport Auto trans you can program it and it will shift hard and fast almost like a DCT. Also the N55 is one of the best sounding engines BMW has ever made, especially with no cats
This has been my favourite BMW since it came out in 07! I dream of owning one of these beauties one day.
Great video, Nick. What I would really love, is if you took some time to compare that e92 to the later f80.
E92 M3 competition package is great. I’ve had two of them. Love this car.
Great Review
E46 M3 with the SMG II also has the 6th bar when you turn off traction and hit the sport button.
Glad to own one...
Nice vid btw!
Nick I have an e92 myself and agree it's an absolute gem; a car I'll keep for a long time. My next step is to add a Harrop supercharger and I'd love for you to give a review of it down the road. Cheers
It sounds fantastic!
I have the 2010 M3 Cpe, and while I understand your gripes, I haven't experienced them with mine. What I did experience recently was strange noises coming from the rear, almost like the tires were rubbing. My dealer correctly diagnosed it as the LSD needed cleaning (flushing out) and refilling. Apparently a common issue. I am 6'5" and do not find the seating position an issue. While 18 MPG does seem poor (and 8MPG at the track!!), it was a refreshingly good change from my previous V10 M5 which was returning 13 MPG even on trips back and forth to work!! The electronics have not been an issue; the tech is even more modern after 7 years than my 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo; the DCT isn't an issue (mine is a manual - I like your back seat passenger's comment); 36K miles, so no throttle actuator issues (yet!); there is reasonable storage under the center armrest; and finally your STEATBELT hander??? Mine has a SEATBELT hander, which most people find elegant, amusing and gentlemanly, often saying "Thank You" to it!! Still I do agree with your positive comments, and even think the best feature (certainly over more recent M's) is the handling and steering. I take my car to the track and while that is amazing, I rarely get out of the car after a "normal" drive on So Cal roads without a smile on my face. The true test of a sports car!
Very good review
Nice review Nick, I had an e92 M3 for 3 years before moving into a 991.2S. It's funny that it seems like a natural path for a lot of car enthusiasts. The BMW was a beautiful and practical car and I still love the styling, however it's just so heavy and slow. The sound is definitely the most attractive aspects of this car for sure - I had the ACM mod done and it sounded just killer. The fact is that porsche 991 platform is so significantly better that I just don't miss mine at all.
Ryan S I've had a very similar experience and agree with you completely.
luv that sound!
On my 2nd E92 M3. amazing cars. The s65 is a dream. Nick - why were you driving in drive mode ???! I drive manual mode 95 percent of the time with my dct - such a nicer more engaging drive. nicer in fact than driving my last manual transmission e92 M3.
Also the sound the s65 makes when you downshift in manual mode is heaven !
over 100K Subs Nick Good Job Mate!! I have had both e92 and F80 M3. I have to say I do love my current one (F80) more. I guess it's a matter of choice or tastes. Don't get me wrong I loved the E92.
Nick ...... what ever your's Porsche or BMW M4 previously owned .... there nu comparison between BMW M3 e92 or the other cars in terms of feelings ! This M3 e92 is the CAR perfect to everything ! Is old now .... but that sensation rewing to 8400 rpm is no where near to Porsche Carrera S 4wd, or the BMW M4 !Is my dream car ! Unfortunately in my country, I can not afford one, not in 10 years from now(second hand of course) ! REspect! And keep up the good work !
Love that engine sound too. Almost sounds like the soundtrack from Bullitt..........
I love the look, because it reminds me of the original night rider. 😍
Pretty much spot on Nick. I'd add the rod bearings. I replaced mine last August just to make sure and they were looking worn, something that shouldn't be happening and could lead to total engine failure. We are also affected by the defective Takata airbags and BMW has yet to produce enough to replace them all. I'm sitting in front of a grenade essentially. Other than that, I really love my E90. It's been really hard to find a reason to let it go and get into something newer. Wasn't a fan of the F8x's and I think there's more to that M2 than what they released. Hopefully the M2 CS is real and wouldn't mind getting into that, but it'll still be a sad day to give up the M3.
One of the best looking M3s for sure
Hi Nick - love your videos! I have a 2013 E92 M3 MT6 with almost no options (ie-no iDrive). I picked it up in Munich in 3/2013, near the end of its production run. I planned to keep it for 3-4 yrs then trade it in on a 991.2 but couldn't because I enjoy it so much. I don't drive it often--I have about 10k miles on it--but I now I plan to keep it forever. The engine is wonderful to listen to, and the analog feel of the car is not something any modern car has. I think it's like a 1970 Hemi Cuda: supremely stupid, and absolutely sublime. In their GBU section, CAR magazine used the words, "prodigious thirst" to describe it. Like you, I don't disagree.... Thanks for highlighting it in this video. (BTW-I'm getting an F80 com pak M3 MT6 this sept,SC delivery instead of a 911. I like the idea of having two M3s that are so completely different.)
Nice! Will be interesting to own them both!
Nice review, I'm still in love with the e92 M3! A breed that is sadly dying.
This Car definitely has an aggressive look and amazing sounds . It's a very close 2nd to my favorite ...the E46 M3.
Dang, I tuned in to learn more handy tips on house maintenance!
Fail! I need to refocus!
That 6th speed for the gearbox is also how you initiate launch control 😉
favorite bmw and m3. by far.
Beemers get a bad rap from from corners. When I lived in Germany I owned several and I loved them!
E92 and it's S65 will be an icon car for sure. The F8X cars will not.
Can't believe I am watching a video about the E9X M3 from a guy who doesn't know that there is a 6th speed setting for the DCT.... but then again, been watching Nick's videos for years and he is a cool, funny guy!
Kaipeternicolas I must have known at the time because it was required for LC
Haha ok fair enough. I was like "there is NO WAY". Glad you still love the E9X M3 so much though. Shows me at least that you're a "real" car guy. Keep it up!
Rod bearings.
You can't leave that out.
Ashish Patel it affects about 1% of cars.
Way overhyped. Just like n54 hpfp failures
There's a solid shop around me that services the rods for 2300. Then you're good to go. :)
Ashish Patel finally somebody isn't an Internet RUclips sheep.
Heel Toe Yeah I know but if you plan on picking up a used one you want to make sure it's done or At Least account for it as a possible expense. Because it's pretty costly and takes a decent amount of time to fix.
I owned a 2011 E93 which was a hard top convert. Owned it for 5 years and just sold it with 20K miles. Loved the looks of it and sound of the engine. Hated the auto transmission and was definitely concerned about future expensive engine problems.
That 6th aggressiveness step is what enables Launch Control. You need to have warmed up the car, then stop somewhere flat, let off the brake, hold the shifting knob forward until a race flag appears in the center console, then press the gas pedal hard, it will spool up to ~5k rpm, then let go of the shifter you were holding forward. The car launches and you just need to press the gas pedal, it changes gears FOR you at redline, until you stop holding the gas pedal or press the brakes.
Same thing with turning the traction off in the old e46 smg, gives a 6th level of aggressive change.
i drive a 330xd Coupe facelift and I love it....but this old M3 model is still my dream car...i love it so much
Nick if you're ever in Los Angeles, I got a supercharged E92 M3 with full race suspension you can take for a spin.
Angry 8 I am in LA...
You also have to be a Nick Murray, go get your name changed and come back.
Changing your name to Nick Murray will also get you free small fries at Wendy's of Milford.
Angry 8, that would be pretty awesome.
what supercharger?
Just found this channel, great content! :D
I have a question, as I am looking for a new car. I kinda want a E92 M3, but I am torn between that and a newer B8 S4 or F30 335i. Thoughts? The newer cars are, well - newer, but less exciting. Go with the heart (E92 M3) or with the brain (335/S4)? The cars a similar in price here in Norway (used). Newer M3/M4 cost too much, so sadly off the table
Thanks :)
You forgot the rod bearing issues for this engine. I still want one regardless of the negatives.
TABL3SIX there was a recall for that
@@AMoistBum Not for the e9x their wasn't.
Rod bearings it's mith...no true
Another excellent video review, Nick. Makes me want one. Never owned a BMW, but it must be a very good machine. Would you have rather had this or a 911 Carrera (base) from the same year?
BMW allways better value for money in same year, porsche its too expensive...
Nick you should see mine. Alpine white exterior, black wheels, just looks awesome. Will be trade her in for a F12 M6. I think I may cry in the dealership.
Awesome car, i hope that it is still affordable in 3-4 years.... The engines sounds is so good :O greetings from germany. You should buy one(or more) with low miles , better investment than a flat ;)
ahh the last of a dying breed, the magnificent e92 m3
CMO Vlogs I
Review the IS-F Nick! Its similar to the M3 *dodges pitchforks* but its more reliable
What shoes is the M3 owner wearing? (great video nick)
Nick,
We're twins. I also had a 2008 M3 (even trade for gen.1 997) in manual. Had it to 147 mph on test drive until salesman got nervous. Agree with your likes/dislikes list. Ultimately I wanted another 911(991.1) and traded it in after 4 years. My top dislikes were the manual gearbox, MPG otherwise it was a blast and one of the most comfy sports cars I've had.
Great video! BMW is the best!
Dude. Love the shirt.
Makes me miss mine. The weight and lack of torque made me go over to a c7 GS Vette. Very different animal
That gearbox is a PITA when parking, especially on a hill!
Its actually pretty great on hills, there must be some sensor built it which automatically holds the brakes for you whilst you move your foot to the accelerator.
Should've mentioned about the rod bearing issue along with the Throttle actuators.
Nice video Nick.. You must grow your back!! What video editor do you use?
Grow my back?
Nick Murray pretty sure he meant "hair back" grow your hair back...
Hair Back !!! I meant.. though you should definitely also grow your back
That was a wig : ) I use Final Cut Pro
In that case start wearing it again.. ;) p.s- I liked my E46 M3 but did not love it..
You know, I bought an e90 MT and after a year I sold it and went back to my e46. I couldn’t get connected to the road and car like the e46 did. Sure it was less powerful but it was way more fun to drive. Still love the e9X series though!
Nick, I'm glad you mentioned the "meaty" steering wheel. After driving the E92 M3 again, do you find your 911 steering wheel doesn't compare. I have the same wheel on my Porsche and I've been disappointed with it. I can't seem to find a comfortable hand position. What makes the Porsche wheel even worse is that my other car is a mk7 GTI which has one of the best steering wheels of any car I've owned or driven.
It is beautiful too.
It sounded like that DCT was slow to switch gears, especially during the exterior drivebys
+nick Murray, I Totally agree this will be a serious collectors car. Especially now that naturally aspirated V8s are border line illegal.
What's the suspension and wheel setup on this particular car? It looks amazing.
I love the sound of M3
Nick, not to copy your #4 "Mean looking beast".......but I think the stance of that car, especially from the back looks awesome. Looks like some fat tires on there and looks very beefy. (Mike in Ohio)
Nice to see you can still like that Beemer. BMW is not my cup of tea, as they say. Test de RS4 if you can. And it's a four wheel drive, too.
Nick, you need to drive a C63 507 Coupe or C63 with PP package and see which one you like more. I'm a huge BMW guy and never looked twice at Merc's until I drove a C63 507 and was floored. If you think an E92 V8 is good...oh my wait til you hear and feel the M156. In fact I own one now.
1:09 and I'm already like -"yeah! you should totally post that video!" btw where's the star of the show, Tui??
The e46 also has the '6th' SMG setting with TC off
I was just looking at the E92 yesterday, and dreaming about getting it when my E46 325i eventually dies lol
This must be an omen.
Nick! 5 years and you didn't ever try the 6th stage of the gearbox! You're really missing out man, in my E60 M5 this mode was what everyone loved about it when I took them for rides. You have to try it!
This car needs the GTS DCT flash. It quickens the shift and puts the car into auto mode (D2) instead of manual mode first. Really transforms the way the car behaves daily. Well worth the hundred bucks or so for the upgrade! It's an absolute must for all the DCT E9X M3's!
You should review 2011+ IS-F. I was in the market for that and the e92 M3, ended up with M235i w/M-LSD (6-speed)
Was waiting for the drag race between the M and your Porsche !!🤔
Well in the case the of the E92 my Porsche is significantly faster, a fair drag would be 997.1
I think I have about 17 mpg on mine. The tank could be bigger for more range, yes.
The first 6 seconds of the video were shot in Monroe, CT. Actually a majority of it was it seems haha. I live 5 min from there, small world!
I love my e92 335i , that being said the seat's are painfully stiff. Leg goes numb after 3 hrs of driving. And the 3 series safety system recall is kind of worth mentioning .
335i it's miles down M3 E92, it's just same brand, the rest nothing to compare, M3 it's much better.
I sold my 2008 M3 in 2011 and miss it dearly. Just under 50,000 miles. Still conflicted w the transmission choice;
If you're a manual expert and enjoy shifting I suppose the 6 speed is relevant. Otherwise, the DCT is optimal.
