She's at her 60's and still belts like she's just 18. She sings with class, have amazing vocals and control. I love your music and your good spirit. This lady is a "SINGER!!!" Today the definition of singers are those who wear Halloween costumes, teen boys who look like tomboys and those who sings crappy lyrics. RIP Donna Summer thank you for the Last Dance and for the "CAKE".
Nobody kills it @20 yrs old. That takes YEARS to happen and only a few get to slay it. This is why age is just not a number. Experience can never be substituted. Donna Summer was an original. ❤
This live performance and her voice were incredible! Her voice was like a wine, better with age. Im so glad that she made her "exit" with this amazing performance full of greatness!
On this day in 1978 {May 27th} Donna Summer performed this song on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Two weeks earlier on May 13th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peaked at #3 and spent 21 weeks in the Top 100... It reached #5 on Billboard's R&B chart... And it won an Academy Award & a Golden Globe award for "Best Original Song" from the movie "Thank God, It's Friday"... Sadly; Donna Summer passed away on May 17th... R.I.P. Ms. Summer and Mr. Clark...
This will never be repeated! Glorious voice, luscious tone, powerful projection, musicality. Great orchestra and conductor, mesmerised public! THAT must have been THE most exciting rendition of 'Last Dance' EVER. What a splendid voice! Nobody will ever come close to THAT Donna sound! Remember that she has been classically trained: no doubt we can appreciate that in her unique style. Her voice was HUGE, unlike the current crop of would-be divas (Donna never considered to be one). MAGIC! RIP.
When I was a 16 year old kid in 1978 in Dallas, I first heard her...I bought her album "On the Radio"...And I fell in love with her...I would look at her picture on the album, and almost cry...I still love her, and I cried the day she passed...
She never lost her voice, but her voice changed when she got older! It became lower , when she was younger she had a high voice but still she sounds fabilous
Not lower... But more weight. This recording is still in the original key. Voices change but the beauty here is she could still sing without lowering the key of her songs. She preserved her voice until the end
One class act. So glad I got to see her live....she sang so strong with so little effort. Just a crazy talented woman. Too damn young to die....R.I.P. Ms. Summer. You will never ever be forgotten.
NOBODY..... Will ever be able to sing a Donna Summer song. Quite like the late & overly gorgeous Miss Donna Summer herself.. She was surely one of a kind.. #RestInPeaceDiVa.
3 years later, she was gone. can only imagine if she was dealing with the lung cancer that would claim her, during this concert. so glad I got to experience her in my life.
R.I.P. Donna Summer!~ Last Dance...right up there with Happy trails...Bar Closing Favorites...then the house lights go on...and you realize just what you almost went home with... GodSpeed to that next Disco Ballroom Honey ....so sad only 63 years old
This is pure magic! I keep watching this clip over and over again. Thank you Donna! (RIP) And thanks to the great Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra. She was such an fantastic artist, and the orchestral arrangements gives me goosebumps.
Please pay attention to the conductor. It's another highlight of this show! The look at the conductors face: the intense concentration and the passionate look in his eyes, his potent gestures while conducting, his whole face oozes of the satisfaction he is feeling...the sweet smile at his mouth expresses the almost orgasmic experience he is having while conducting what irrefutable is the most exceptional musical performance of his life! :-)
I love coming back over and over to watch. Yes, the conductor is having such a great time with this song. He’s really into it as I would say most of the musicians are. She was great.
Can't keep playing the reprise at 05:47 and the way Donna leaves the stage, controling her voice perfectly while walking to the wings. OMG those security guards around the stage must have thought: "Jeez, she's something, she's fabulous! - a real Queen!") Who would have guessed that she was already suffering? Perhaps THE most sensational live performance by the "Queen of disco"! Love Her. RIP
Unbelievable!!! After all these years and her voice was still ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! That's what real entertainer looks like folks, a true lady, with a voice that never failed. I love you so much Donna Summer Sudano. Thank you for sharing your gifts and your love with us. You will be truly missed but never forgotten!! :-(
She had style, she had grace, and with that smile, gave good face! What the Rock Establishment too too long to recognize, the rest of us knew years ago: the woman was THE QUEEN. At Rama (north of Toronto) the crowd was yelling how fab she was, and yet she stood there laughing, saying that "we didn't live with her" and didn't know what she could be like first thing in the morning. What self-depracating humour, what a lady, what a songstress. She invited the WORLD to dance - what an ambassador of joy!
I found it hard to hold back some tears today. As with many who have posted here, Don Summer was the summer of my youth. That voice and her music will love on forever. RIP and sleep tight special one and thank you for such wonderful memories.
She was approximately 60 years old when this concert was filmed and she still sounds like she did her in glory days (which were glory days for so many of us). She proves that true talent doesn't fade and we all feel better knowing her voice is permanently a part of our memories. This is a voice that will never be silenced, not even with her early death. God bless you Donna Summer.
The world has lost one of its greatest singers. Donna you were a big part of my life during the 70's and 80's. Your, "Love to Love You Baby" filled the dance floors in 1975 and will fill the floors just as full now 37 years later. RIP Donna, you will have all of heaven dancing! You will always be remembered.
This was incredible! I would have loved to grow up in the 70s where she reigned as Queen of Disco...such feel good music. But thank God for youtube and for her blessing us with her music. RIP Donna Summer
DONNA MARKED A FANTASTIC ERA.....HER VOICE WAS UNIQUE AND POWERFUL SHE ALWAYS BE THE DIVA.....THE QUEEN OF DISCO 4EVER !!!!. REST IN PEACE DONNA....ANOTHER ANGEL IN HEAVEN !!!
I could not agree more. This woman had an amazing voice that did not change over the decades. She did not the recognition that she deserved! God Bless her soul.
You can hear the congestion and stuffiness and still she blew it out with incredible vocals...Amazing. I have followed her tour and this is the lowest key I heard her sing this song in and it still commanded the audience...you go Donna!!
The women could blow. It was her last dance but we will always remember. RIP. The NBO also did a huge effort here, they managed to serve Ms. Summer with honors.
DONNA SUMMER R.I.P. - you are a part of my youth .... Thank you for all you good music - thank you for making me sooo happy at that time and still now .....
Donna, you had a voice of an angel, with beauty, power, and most important, humility, and a strong love of God. I dont know why you got Cancer but i hope you are at Peace now. I dont understand why we loose so many artists so young [63] . You were truley loved by your fans and family. THis is a bad DAY for your family, surley, and all of us fans. So SAD.
this is exactely how I feel about Donna, I started to know her when I was about 10 years old, and I LOVED HER!! And I still do. I did not cry when she died but since that time, I'm still thinking of her... I also agree with others that it is absolutely NOT understandable that it took so long for Donna to reach the Hall of Fame!!!!!!!!!! She should have been there 20, sorry, I still think I'me 20, 30 years ago!!!!!!!
Gotta say, I lived the disco life of the 70's and early 80's, and always loved Donna Summer. She had a lot of excellent tracks. So talented. So beautiful. But today she has died, and I'm a little in shock. Its only now I realise how much of my life was played out to a soundtrack that Donna Summer featured so heavily. This performance shows what a phenomenal talent she was, right til the end. RIP Donna Summer.
One of the greatest song writers and singers that ever lived! What a powerhouse voice that got better and stronger with time! This song just touches my heart! She was dearly loved and she is dearly missed!
wow, what memories this brings up. It was always the last song played when the lights came up, letting evryone know it was the last dance or drink for the night. Time to go home!
Bless you Dear, for your shrewd comments which are very true. That voice was unique, and Donna could have sung musicals, even operetta (as a mezzo-soprano). That luscious, sexy, hefty sound will never be repeated. She was so amazing. Best.
Will never be another like Donna! Either this or Night of the Proms may have been her last performance - so fantastic! Sadly she passed 3 years later here in Florida. R.I.P Donna.... one of a kind voice
One thing the entertainment business never took from Donna Summers is her voice. She took that with her. Thank God
Entertainment business sucks
A good singer never lets the business take their gift! What an asinine statement!!
She's sung this song hundreds of times on tv, but this is one of my favorite performances of it.
Her voice matured so gracefully Rest in Peace Donna. U might be gone but will never be forgotten.

Her voice did age. It got a little bit deeper but still a great voice, nonetheless.
@@JimmieJamOfTheDay Her voice is deeper. Her voice was still in tack unlike many other singers her age. Still strong and not scratchy
