Ron is cheating, watch the video in slow motion and see there are many ways you can improve but you need to change your game against Ron, he is "cheating" 🙏
One of the biggest regrets I have in my life is having to wade through all the crap before I found Cold Steel. I have the Gladius, the Buckler, the War Hawk and the Boar Spear. How I wish I'd known about Cold Steel's fixed blades and folders before I bought anything else.
This is the absolute reason coldsteel makes great knives. It is the simple fact Lynn is a real martial artist and outdoorsman. Most knife makers don’t have his background. Here’s hoping GSM doesn’t destroy my absolute favorite company.
Very interesting, thank you Sir. I need a Vaquero! I still have to decide which one. I will use it as all around knife. May I ask how the serrated version performs on food prep?.
When you're out of ammo on the battlefield absolutely there is It's called war. Some people have bayonet, some have tomahawks, and some have tactical shovels. And of course there's always knives.
That would be awesome. Learn it and practice it. Muscle memory is key. Even the slightest move can save your life. I would say, though, that a man with no knife against a man with a knife can be challenging to say the least. I've just recently become interested in melee combat. Until now, I was all about firearms, and even then, we have the 21 foot rule, so I know what a determined individual can do with a blade. I thank Mr. Thompson for his continued effort to arm and educate the willing.
I'd like to see man with knife vs guy with gun.. they say never take a knife to a gun fight but I have a feel Lynn would kick some ass. the scenario I always walk through is being behind a robber in a convenient store, do I run or stab him in the liver
Knife or dagger is not fork with double holding. You never stop hard attack with slaping. Doing more sparring without so protective equipment and maybe after a while you understand what works and what is not, pain is the best teacher
Thank u Lynn, great tactics! Cold Steel makes great and affordable pieces, I am from Asia and I got quite a few Cold Steel tomahawks and shield at home. Waiting for the new 19 inch shield to be made available in my side of the world!
In a real situation..one is dead and the other long time in hospital..or two are dead..or two are for long time in hospital In 95 procent of such knife fights. And stay away from that wall.. I don't want insult nobody in the video..so don't understand me wrong. Nice video and stay away from knife fights. It better can be called knife surviving.. I have a reason to put this comment here.My right hand will be disabled for the rest of my life. And it was my own fault.. A knife is a very dangerous tool. Take care..
Defanging tactics are nice, but you should never rely on one attack stopping the fight. Especially when you got a folding knife and slash at someone in thick clothing, chances are that it doesn´t even scratch him (even if the knife works wonders in demonstrations, but real targets don´t hold still for you...). Striking the arm and immediately stabbing thereafter is better, but again, it can happen that he´ll just stab you at the same time. Thus, it´s important that you get out of harm's way, or get the blade under control.
@@csknives But do you make aluminum/steel trainers? The rubber ones are great and ive had alot of them, but if you guys made real trainers, people would flock to buy them. There is nothing out there right now thats good. Spyderco's are good but way to expensive. Alot of the aluminum trainers have paracord grip and those suck. The kershaw ones have a frame lock problem. I know all the makers out there right now, and there is really nothing. Lynn if your listening, heres your chance my friend. Make trainers with Cold Steel toughness and everyone will want one.
The probability of being in a knife versus knife fight is practically 0%, a knife is a lethal weapon justifying the use of CCW firearm which you should already have. People who have some knowledge of bladework know going in they will get cut and/or stabbed. Take a few lessons in Filipino martial arts and this will be driven into your brain permanently. You should probably focus more on executing while being reesisted as well as damaged. Not playing paddycake with people also taught to play paddycake like most weapon-centric martial arts degrade into. The person coming at you IRL with a knife is not going to know how to play paddycake too in all likelihood and his knife is going to be protected in his rear hand while he uses the other hand to grab followed by a tackle and pistoning the knife.. Get off the line of attack preferably circling away from their weapon hand and do damage. Ever had to function in a technical way while getting punched in the face or choked??? If you haven't you are wasting time studying in whatever martial art you are in.
@Soul Chicken There is nothing technically wrong with FMA, the problem is what it devolves into for the sake of keeping students coming back and thus paying dues. Like Kata in the Chi/Jap?Kor martial arts, it is a useless time consuming dance. Concepts and thus techniques you can 95% learn in a few sessions with meaningful Execution/Resistance and then do occasional brush-up work does not keep money coming in the door. Paddycake = Kata = Habit that can be fatal
The reality of knife on knife violence it's a lot more closer than you think. For some people in countries where you cannot carry firearms they can be a certainty of knife on knife violence. And here is something the general public doesn't think about; the Navy takes down a lot of meth labs at sea, and when you kick the door in and smell gas you have to go in knife or tomahawk so you don't have any Sparks going off.
Most knife fighters keep their knife hidden, it's a weapon of surprise. Most victims never see the knife or see it when it is too late. People who show their knives are not really prepared to fight .
Unless I'm carrying ultra-light, I do not rest my chances of survival based on probability, but rather on contingency. I am also heavy into concealed firearm carry, but one of the first lessons you should learn is the 21 foot rule, sir. You have 1.3 seconds to draw and fire your gun from concealed. If you discount that...good luck, gunslinger.
You are very right...for the US. In some other countries, knife vs knife happens often. It often ends badly for both parties. I like living in the US. I can just use a handgun. Far less likely to get stuck.

My thoughts exactly!
always enjoy Lynn videos!

Lynn's looking good, how great would it be if he start intermittent fasting and dropped 90 lbs. Unstoppable! keep up the good work boss!
Thanks, excellent video. Wish you would do many more on knife training and techniques in fighting. Top notch guys.
Cheers
Thank you very much Lynn :)
Great video, thanks. This man practices what he preaches.
You are truly an inspiration, Mr. Thompson. Thank you for the lessons and thank you for such a fine product as Cold Steel.
You must be trolling
This was the best fighting video by CS by far. Nice work guys.

Great video Lynn. You're such a bad ass.
I wish i would never get in that situation, but thank you for the lesson. Tutorial from a knife master
Please do a push dagger tutorial.
Yea, I'm ready the next time I have two knives and I'm being attacked by someone with two knives
Did he say he learned from Dan Inosanto... as in Bruce Lee’s Dan Inosanto? Lynn Thompson is the real deal!
@Kylan Will shut up already
Cool video also! just throwing this out there Any plans for a larger vaquero like 7 1/2 in that will be neat !
You need to do a video of the 2019 Viking Battle Axe!
What kind of knives are they using are those knives taped or some sort of plastic
Has there ever been a documented situation of 2 men fighting carrying 2 knives each?

What is your every day carry? No telling what you may encounter. Be prepared. Carry as much as you can in a practical manner.

Respect to Big Lynn. True master of the blade 🔪

You can make any knife into a dull or blunt knife, with little effort. 😉

Now show me how to beat the others guys in the locker room with a wet towel
Gotta watch the feint thrust to the body with an explosive chop to the head if you spent the initial stop hit. Jhook to the outsides as well.
