Donny Osmond. I had no clue who he was and was floored when he was revealed.
I love how the American version is literally about dress up and guessing the celebrity, when the original Korean version was more or so giving talented singers a chance to show off their vocals, because the K-Pop industry is so focused on visuals to the point half the industry doesn’t sing live anymore. Also, it sounds like most these performances having auto tune, even with it live. Like she’s should have singers, not just anyone.
lee sungkying was the best and she is more of an actress than a singer. she trained in yg and can even dance.
@@nessenessekim1038 One of my favorite singers, Luna (of f(x), which is still a group) was on it and is now on broadway…why is Logan Paul and Sarah Palin on this show? I’m sorry, but that’s crazy and shows it’s just a remake with no flavor and obnoxious costume designs that take away from the point of the show.
I get so sick of seeing rappers on here and ending up in the top 3 when plenty of real singers should have been in their place instead.

The first season was more about singing. After maybe the first 3 seasons the show became unhinged
One thing that I felt Masked Singer did well, or rather, a panelist, was when Firefly was clearly starting to have issues and needing medical assistance, Ken was out of his seat and heading towards the stage. Show be darned, someone needed help and he was going to give it. The backstage crew came out and he was stopped, but the fact remains that he was ready to throw the competition aside when a performer needed help.
That’s because he is a doctor and most, if not all, will help someone if they need it.

Ken walking off was controversial in itself but Rudy being revealed was just as controversial, because it left the audience as speechless as mimes
Ken walking BACK ON STAGE says he's ok parading an election LIAR, riot instigator, DISBARRED LAWYER on stage. A REAL stand would've been to quit on the spot. Tolerating that is showing it's ok to destroy America if you're willing to put on a costume and make a fool of yourself.
He (Ken) needed to cool off from that.

Some of these aren't what I would call "scandals".....I'm still a bit miffed that Firefly won despite throwing a diva fit, the Take-It-Off Button was thankfully short-lived and utterly useless, and I'm still not thrilled with the show's current elimination proccess

In my country we had a scandal after an episode.( I am from Latvia). A rap group was masked and one of the judges was from the group. They got bigger than ever and then suddenly an ex girlfriend of one of the guys came out with abuse accusations so all of their music was taken off the radio.
Someone's head fell off in the Australian version as well. But they also managed to keep their identity a secret and came third in season 3
Hughes guessing Thornton was a result of his kids recognising her voice. Wouldn’t really call that a scandal. What I WOULD call a scandal however is that when (spoiler alert) Macy Gray was eliminated, she refused to unmask. She had to be talked into taking it off
She was definitely intoxicated just listen to her unmasked performance
She sounds terrible too, even with the mask on. I really wanted her to go home ASAP
As far as leaks on the show the 1st one I saw was for Michelle Williams the butterfly. The person that leaked it was the man that was held responsible for electricly shocking her. He was fired and he spilled the beans as revenge. It was up a couple days as a comment.
The 2nd time it was Rudy Juliani And people were trying to guess which costume he was in. Ken didn't walk out because of politics, he walked out because Juliani had made racist remarks against Asians. Robin followed him because he was worried about Ken.

I actually came up with the theory that Rudy wasn’t supposed to be on the show initially but he was cast at the last minute because the real Team Bad singer Thingamabob was moved to Team Cuddly to replace the singer who dropped out. I even supported my theory with how they did the performance first instead of the clue package first like they usually would as well as the knowledge that how many of ratings stunts have been confirmed as last minute additions.(For example, after his unmasking episode aired,Dr.Elvis/Serpent confirmed that Mickey Rourk was cast at the last minute due to the uncertainty of whether or not Lorenzo Ball/Whatchamacallit was going to be able to do the show due to the NBA restart)
That is surprisingly genius. Although, that would mean Group A would’ve been without a cuddly contestant, and I don’t see Thingamabob being an OH MY GOD! His first song is “Wanted Dead or Alive!” That’s basically a villain song! Never mind mate. I agree

In Australia, we use voice modifiers so you can’t tell immediately. Rita Ora I believe was a panellist sometime in the series, someone also lost their head at one point and Julia Morris did it with a broken back

Best incidents on the Australian version was either when the "wildcard" was revealed to be frickin VINNIE JONES, or the time the mask of one of the singers fell off and the host practically did a "take a bullet for the president" dive to block the performers identity
I hope Rudy Giuliani as the Jack in the Box makes this list for sure and when they did the Road to the Masked Singer before the finale, he got omitted from there and its like the producers were trying to forget about him

I personally believe that anyone that is controversial (for whatever reason) or is known to make hateful comments about a group of people shouldn't be allowed on this show. I realize that would eliminate a large number of people, but if this is supposed to be a "family" show, then FOX needs to keep those things in mind,

Plus I disagree with the original comment here, because I think anyone should have that right, to redeem themselves, and possibly show off their skills(the ones that can sing, but aren't singers, that is.) Plus, in my opinion, the majority of celebrities are controversial for one reason or another, for instance, while I love LeAnn Rimes(the sun), one of my all time favorites on the show, she has very controversial past, along with her now husband. They literally cheated on their partners when they originally got together, and since then they've stayed together, but Regardless technically they're still controversial in some way. Plus think of all the modern singers with tons of controversy(the majority of them, I'd say-a large portion.)

This show feels like the kind of dystopic nonsense you'd see playing on a TV in a post apocalyptic movie.
I remember a while ago some musicians on youtube came forward because one of the mask singer series used instrumentals from a cover of a song that were original to the cover. They got no credit for the instrumentals even though trying to get justice.
The band Halocene, it was their cover of Billie Eilish's Bad Guy, and it was the Austrailian version of Masked Singer. I believe their video on the issue is still up on their channel if you search for it.

I think the thing that I had the hardest time with with the show and why I stopped watching. They all cheered for Mama and honey boo boo, Mama June allowing a sex offender to be part of her life, but walk out on Rudy G. It just makes me angry.
What the crew behind the show should do to prevent this from happening again is that the crew should ban political figures and controversial celebrities like singers, actors actresses and social media influencers etc.
I’m actually not surprised that Rudy Giuliani was on there. The show has not been very thoughtful about some of the casting. The show is on Fox after all. I think they were hoping that it would be a distraction from the horrible things he has done and try to make him look more relatable. I think they thought it was going to be great publicity because there’s no such thing as bad publicity they say. They were very wrong about that.
So just because someone has different political opinions, they should be banned from the show 🤔

It's interesting that you didn't give any mention at all to the Australian version of The Masked Singer actually stealing the music group Halocene's cover of Billie Eilish's song "Bad Guy" and not crediting them or reimbursing them for it - the group's lead singer even released a video comparing their version, which featured samples from songs of theirs which they hadn't even released yet, and the show's version which is a like-for-like replica.

I did not like Sarah Palin's rendition of that song. Nothing to do with politics or her performing ability, it just didn't match Sir Mix-a-Lot's original recording, imo.

I work at a family holiday park here in the UK and we have a little show called ‘masked DJ’ we dtand behind this prop DJ desk and pretend to DJ and dance around and the guests have to guess which member of the entertainment team it is, the kids always guess it by our shoes lol

The Australian version also had a case where one of the masks came off early. The host of the show has said that it was one of his favourite moments of the show. A bit disappointing how you guys had an entry about our version, but didn't include that moment alongside a similar moment in the US version.
If I was on the panel when Bobby Brown was revealed, I would have not wanted to speak to him and walked off stage. I'm surprised no one did that for him just like Ken walking off for Rudy's reveal

Are we talking Beetlejuice the movie? Because the songwriter (or at least the singer) of the Beetlejuice's (the movie) songs was the late great Harry Belafonte. And I'm sure that even if the songwriter for those wasn't Harry, Harry was at least 98 if not 100+ years old, so the chances of the songwriter being so much as alive anymore would be shocking but in good enough shape to do something like this? That would be amazing! 😂

That Nick Canon thing was a big yikes to learn about.
"The Show Is Rigged and/or Staged." Ya don't say. This has been pretty obvious since the beginning at least in the American version. There have been so many times that it's stupidly obvious who the singer is (ex. Lil Wayne) and they're like, "Uh idk is it (random person you've probably never heard of)?" Then on the flip side you're like who the heck is that singing and off the top with no warning they're just like, "Is that 13 time NBA All-Star Dwayne Wade?" or "Is that (Random Tik-Tok singer)?" and the guess is correct. I'm just like there's no way both ways that this show isn't rigged or staged (again I'm just speaking on the American version). Not to mention the couple times that the definite favorite in the runnings lost to someone else because that's how they wrote the finale.
I know. I personally think Rottweiler (Chris Daughtry) from S2 should've won, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Same with Robot (Lil Wayne) staying over Miss Monster.
I'm old. 2/3 of the time they unmask and I still don't know who they are.

There was also a politician in the Belgian version who proved controversial, but it was largely overshadowed by the fact that he was actually really good.
Sadly, Alessandra Mussolini isn't the only member of the dynasty associated with far-right politics in Italy (their persistence foreshadowed the rise of the current Italian far-right leaders)..

The habit of making a fuss about someone’s past is just ridiculous. If people knew the truth about their idols they would shut up fast. There is so much to these celebrities that if you get caught up in it you will miss the talent. If people change quit holding their past over their heads. I mean if you can’t do that then what would be the incentive for someone to change? The goal is to become a cheer human being and to be treated as someone who did the work of changing their life. The goal isn’t to hold mistakes over their heads forever. Sheesh

I was not expecting Rudy Giuliani to be on the Masked Singer, nor was I really happy about it. Don't know who thought having him on there was a good choice.

The fact that the only judges that had a problem with Giuliani having been part of the show, were Robin and Ken, that says a lot about the other two judges. Nick's comments, the horrible choices in contestants, and two of the judges having more air in their head than brains, this show shouldve been canceled awhile ago.
Giuliani has done nothing wrong and much less controversial things than Robin and Ken, one of which is a sexual predator. Nick Cannon is racist.

So, let me see if I got this right…Bobby Brown shouldn’t be allowed to perform on TV because of his actions 20+ years ago while in the throes of active addiction? Does him turning his life around after losing both his kids and the love of his life or him apologizing every chance he gets for his wrongdoings now that he’s sober and can see just how bad it was not count for anything? The only ppl who were mad about Rudy and Sarah were those on the opposing political side. They weren’t campaigning or pandering for votes and support for their political careers. They had an opportunity present itself and they thought it would be fun. Yes, Palin said she did it to stick it to the other side but there was no politics involved with her performances. Same with Rudy. Idc who you vote for or what side you support. That’s your problem, not mine. I don’t support any politician so it’s not an issue or even given the tiniest bit of consideration when I’m deciding what I like to watch. If you can’t put the shit aside in order to have a good time, again-your problem, not mine. And finally Nick…everybody and their grandma knows he’s been fired from more jobs than he has kids, yet he still keeps getting hired because he actually does a good job hosting. Again, you learn how to set shit aside and pick your battles. People need to grow up and stop complaining over every little thing. Quit punishing folks for their mistakes that are decades old, especially if they’ve paid their dues. Life is so more enjoyable when you remove the stick from your ass!
Also, judges are supposed to be impartial and not make a decision or choice based on anything but the performance they just watched. These shows are created specifically around maintaining the anonymity of the performer so their voice is the only thing being judged. My family and I stopped watching the US version of The Masked Singer after season 9. We full heartedly thought thr Macaw would win and we guessed/knew who it was. And he was the better singer between the two. We had suspicions for years that the show was rigged especially when the Turtle lost to Night Angel. But season 9 was the last straw for us.
