    I've met the butler's that make the soycurls. They invented a machine that forces air into the soy bean then dehydrate. It's awesome.

    I measure half a cup of oatmeal in a cereal bowl and pour 5 ounces of boiling water on it and let it sit until I'm ready to eat usually 30 minutes or so. I don't have a pan to wash then just the bowl

      Susanna Ball yep. I nuke it then let it sit around while I prepare breakfast and nuke it one more time after all my prep is done! Pan free!

    unsweetened plant milk works great for me for a sub for all or some of the coconut milk in a recipe. nutritional yeast & spices can make the sauce a bit thicker. you can also blend part of the curry recipe and add it back in the pan to make a thicker sauce.

    Not sure where the name "aquafaba" came from but I have always used it, like you do, for a great part of my stews, etc. It's a great substitute for oil in salad dressings. Gives the same mouthfeel as oil. Vinegar, whole mustard, spices, etc. Yum! I eat a bowl of oats like that every morning. So good. I agree about salt. We need sodium, not added salt. We get enough from our vegis. Thanks for the informative video. I always love your shows. Thanks, Lynn

    I AT LEAST eat 2 cups of oats a day ! Totally amazing how addictive this grain is haha ! I mix in some frozen blackberries, blueberries and cherries (Which cools down the boiling hot oats and make them eatable on the go !). I mix that up with some flax seeds and cinnamon ! Then I top it with an apple and a banana and if I feel like deserving it I put a tablespoon of nut butter. A-MA-ZING. SOS free

    THE BEST SALT SUBSTITUTE: dulse flakes (and you get your sea veggies in too), celery powder, freeze dried celery, or other high in salt veggies dried. i often use celery herb to top my food (the dark leafy green things on the top of the celery stalks).celery is natures ultimate salt. along with sea veggies

    For the pregnant lady I suggest that she makes ahead some batches of oatmeal for breakfasts and freezes in two cups containers, ready to go in the morning. Also, she can have soups full of greens and anything else frozen in 2 cups containers. Batch cooking once a week some whole grains and some legumes will also help out. Good luck!

    You can also make a savory oatmeal, I love haven’t that with mixed vegetables. Cook stir fry veggie mix the add enough water for a oatmeal, add seasonings. I love curry powder. Mix together and cook. I tend to make it on the dryer side than soupy. It’s delicious.

    If folks have the time, Groats (whole grain oats are always best) and are oh so good!!! For those with digestive disorders ( namely SIBO or IBD) it's always best to eat fruit separately; watery fruits digest within 10-20 minutes while denser fruit digest within 45 minutes usually. Eating it with something like oats which can take three hours to digest can have it hang up in digestion and ferment, feeding the bad bacteria.

  • @AWanderingEye

    As for the salt substitute question, maybe try adding naturally salty veggies like celery to the dish? But I agree, getting out if habit of layering in salt through cooking process, then getting down to just a light sprinkle at the table, to ultimately not keeping it on the table at all is probably better route. This routine is likely easier for sugar as there are many whole sweet things to sub for sugar...Dillon, please do more cooking videos! Very inspiring!

    Mine is a much simpler version... water, 1/2 - 3/4 cup oatmeal, bring to boil, turn down add cinnamon, maybe nutritional yeast. then add frozen wild blueberries, chop bananas... spoon into big bowl... then I add my ground flax (I wonder about flax being heated any earlier). Sometimes (not always) I add a sweetener - honey or maple syrup or syrup I create by putting my dates into water in a small jar in the fridge.

I am a muesli/oatmeal fan and my breakfast looks a bit like yours, being the most nutritious and meticolously composed meal of my day. I think Dr. Fuhrmann and Dr. Greger would be happy. My muesli is a mix of different grains (oats, golden millet, amaranth, wild emmer wheat, kamuth, rye, spelt) and soaked in almond milk it is very rich in minerals AND DELICIOUS! Yum!

    Looks like rolled oats. whats your opinion on rolled oats vs steel cut oats?

    • @michaelscoots
      @michaelscoots 6 лет назад

      Justin whole grain oats are the very best ("groats") in the bulk bin - the life force is still intact - if you put it in soil and water it, it will grow grass. Next least processed is steal cut and then rolled oats. Many doctors recommend steal cut because they don't take as long to cook as groats but I worked with a functional medicine nutritionist who says groats are the only way to go.

    • @twelveofthem

    Will eating oatmeal slow down your weight loss?

    • @sharit7970
      @sharit7970 4 года назад

      Not the oatmeal itself; but any fat that you add can slow you down [including healthy things like nuts, seeds, etc] If you otherwise make it the way he did [with fruit to sweeten] you'll get full and you really can't over eat it... even if you want to! I don't know what your diet is like, but if you eat it like I used to [with a ton of brown sugar and margarine] it becomes easy to overeat; then obviously you'll slow yourself down. Hope this helps : )
