I have been meaning to text you for so long. This past year you have helped me so much. Your videos are as clear as crystal compared to lots og guys on here, Thank you so so much for everything you do and everything you teach, you are the ultimate tradesman. From and an Irishman in London. If you are ever in London, hit me up I owe you lots of beer.
All that soldering. Just get two flexis, and 2 bits of copper pipe and attach the flexi to the lock shield valve. then attach the copper to the flexi, the other end of copper attach to hose pipe. job done. do this for both valves on the radiator side.
Add some X800 first & let it circulate for a couple of hours, then this method works a treat with improved results. Nice neat 10mm rad drops btw, hardly ever see microbore looking neat 🙂
I attach hose to a doc then put boiler in high rate , opem the doc and open the filling loop , watwr pumping round hot to free all that crao in rads and dumping thru doc , very affective and quick ! Add some mc5 before hand .
Not sure how effective approach to flush the system would be by just opening a filling loop on boiler and flushing out through drainage valve under radiator ? This is a DIY man question, I might be missing something in my understanding. Thanks
It would be as effective as shown in the video. Mains flushing does have its place with cleaning out new installs or recent installs. I would say using a Kamco with appropriate chemicals is better for systems really sludged up - especially on microbore, the high flow and turbulence really dislodges all the shit.
Ok I do have a question about the parts. What is the male thread with the free nut called? Got everything else from my plumbers merchant but they don't know that. Thanks in anticipation and for all your vids.
Easy if youre a qualified plumber with all the tools!😂 Nah just kidding, I used to see my dad and grandad doing something similar when I was a kid except they just filled it up from another tap near the header tank and drained it a few times. 😎👍
Maybe you could use one of the top outlets on the radiator and then connect other hise to another radiator, closing one rad valve on each radiator, save taking radiator off? I have also wondered about using the filling loop under the boiler to flush system out? Anyway good video, thanks
My hot water has stopped working and some of my radiators don’t heat at the top. I’ve tried to bleed them but some of them no air or water comes out. It’s an old system with no motorised valves and a header tank in the roofspace. I cleaned out the header tank as it was full of rusty crap. I want to try this flushing method but not sure how. And if the system is blocked or air locked will it even work?
Mains pressure alone will only shift some of the crap.... When I had a recent boiler install the plumber did a power flush and as well as the power flush he used a type of rubber hammer in a sds drill to agitate all the crud in each rad.. The amount of stuff that came out was unbelievable... BTW many manufacturers insist on powerflush on new install to validate warranty@@wr3099
@@mmplumber Too true. I tried to tell people the same, then I saw their valves leaking....would they listen! No they know better. Good video, going to do mine the same, on old open vent system.
I have an open vented system, I thoroughly clean the header tank out first & I just attach a hose to one of the lowest rads & let the water out onto a drain & it just runs through until its clear I then switch to another downstairs rad & repeat & do this to all downstairs rads until they are all clear. I open each radiator up fully, one at a time, for 5 or 6 minutes as I go along. It drains faster than it fills so I syphon more water from the main water tank in the loft... no fancy tools needed. I'll be doing it again probably late March...
@@grahamshillingford8229 if you turn off the cold feed and cap off the vent you can do it this way. Your best to force it round a circuit to make sure it gets to all rads
Please stop driking water from heating circuit the last thing that we want it is that you get sick cause of that 🙏 about the powerflush you don't have a powerflush machine if you don't get yourself one straightaway cause they are simpñy brilliant no matter if its fernox, kamco, nostrom they all do the same exact job

Ok never mind the comment on the shorts version of this. Fantastic idea. Going to flush my system like this
👊👊👊 good to keep the system clean

Does it not mean any of the crap from the radiators is flowing though the boilers heat exchanger ?
Brilliant idea going to try it should I let it run through the boiler as well or just the system thanks 👍
Bloody 'ell everyone's got a opinion or advice to share haven't they?
You smashed it mate, not like you needed me to tell you that anyway 🍺
Buen trabajo me podria decir que es la pasta blanca que le pone a las roscas gracias
Great video!!! Good use of the snazzy drain cock.... and very easy to send the water round in the other direction as well 👍
Yeah I did love them valves for quick connection
I like the kicks on the copper that how i do them
More bends the better

Works an absolute treat mate. Continues water flowing through the system.
@lewiscook431 once you drained the system and all vent valves in rads are open would you need to close them again before opening the water valve?
@@LegendarySteepretty sure that you would
This is what I plan to do😊
How long did the whole process take? with how many rads?
Thanks.

Javac flexi torch

What torch tip is that mate? I want one of those
Javac flexi torch and imho it's shite. Mine is bust after falling out my bag. It's a weak torch.
Wouldn’t a non return valve instead of an isolation valve be better to prevent cross contamination? Great idea though I’m definitely giving this ago
Outside tap has one on the inside mate
@@mmplumber aw tidy 👍
Great idea.
Quick question. Do you need to have the pump running at all, or just pet the mains pressure do all the work?
You don't want the pump running at all here. Probably do it damage it it was. Mains pressure is plenty to shift the crap
Mains pressure alone will only shift some of the crap.... When I had a recent boiler install the plumber did a power flush and as well as the power flush he used a type of rubber hammer in a sds drill to agitate all the crud in each rad.. If open vent do you isolate vent and cold feed.
Cap off the vent and shut off cold feed or cut a valve in
Dint mention a non return valve on feed pipe from the tap not very good if it ets into the main stream water
Your outside tap should have a double check valve for this very reason and be compliant with WRAS regs.
Trv needs a lock cap on otherwise they leak when removing rad .
No they won't. Will only leak if they have frost protection and the temperature will drop below 5 degrees C.
Sweet
Thanks mate!
Why do they all use that gunge on compression joints it dont need it???
It does! I fix leaks daily on compression from people not using it

all the crap i caused by radiators, should have let the water go through the whole system including radiators
