  • Soft and fluffy, slightly sweet and fragrant Fatt Koh, Chinese Prosperity Sugar Rice Cakes, made with white rice using instant yeast method, easy and foolproof recipe for all.
    Mould size W: 55mm H: 30mm
    Ingredients: Serving size: 12
    130 g white rice (cooked, cold)
    80 g caster sugar
    300 ml water
    150 g rice flour (Rice 100%)
    1 tsp instant yeast
    2 tsp vegetable oil
    1 package (4.3 g) Eno fruit salt
    *substitute Eno fruit salt : 1 teaspoon baking powder

    I still remember my mom ALLAH yarhamha (R.I.P mom) ,always grinding course,hard, raw rice to make it liquidity by stone grinder!!! At that time we don't have blender in markets,nor electricity. She work hard to raise us to be good Humans and Children!!! She wokeup at 5 o'clock in the morning to make this cake!!! And send its to schools foodcourt. How big is our father & mother sacrificed for us😭😭😭 RABBI IRHAM Huma ,wagfir lahuma ,Amien.

    0:19 blend steam rice + sugar + water until smooth 0:55 pour rice flour + water to steam rice mixture stir well
    1:28 then add yeast stir and cover plastic 1:58 do first proof for 1 hour and thẹn add 2 tsp oil stir 2:22 and rest for another 15 mins
    2:46 add Baking soda stir less than 1 míns transfer batter to the big cup & do finish stir before pour batter into the hot mould
    4:03 steam high heat for 20 mins
    4:37 ingredients

    We call this mkate wa mchele in Dubai and Zanzibar but we added coconut milk instead of water and we mix it up with cardamom and we bake is really nice.

      @@mairaa9184 take fresh coconut into pieces .. Garlic 2 to 3 cloves according to the quantity of coconut green chill or red dry chill. Salt and roasted grams few . Add little water Make it into Paste.. Tats it coconut chutney..

    I find it so amazing that we have the same dish specific to the Visayas region in my country (except we don't use fruit salt, I don't know what that is)! We call it Putong Bisaya. So nostalgic and indeed it is the perfect snack, and pairs so well with a hot chocolate drink!

      Eno fruit salt is a combination of baking soda (sodium bicarb), sodium carbonate, and citric acid. A good substitute that works is baking soda and lemon or lime juice. Sprinkle the baking soda over the dough, pour the juice over the soda. Stir to mix, then steam. Subukan mo ang medjo kulang na 1/4 cucharita at kalahating cucharita nang calamansi. Oh sige, Inday, let us know.

    We call it in Togo🇹🇬 Ablo...we add corn flour or maize flour... Eat it with tomate stew, grillade...etc....so Amazing... We Cook it for events like annuversary, wedding and funerals

      @@hashcagnilrad434 I agree. Except for the steaming it is nothing like idli. I am Indian and I make idli at home too. And for that we add urud dhall batter and no sugar. This steamed sponge sweet rice cakes are very tasty and mostly made by Chinese. I wonder if there's a substitute for Eno which I can use.

    Add crushed coconut and this will actually be kerala appam.recipe.. to be accurate vattaippam recipe... And we normally eat it with chicken stew or egg curry and so on...

    Finally it was a success third time. First attempt, it didn’t raise much and it was so dense, the second attempt, it shrunk after taking out from the pan. Third attempt, it was successful and it’s delicious 🤣.

    This is Abolo, a togolese food. They eat it with tomato stew and fried fish or chicken. I eat with cow legs soup 🤤🤤. Very tasty

    Add freshly grated coconut and cut on sugar. It tastes more delicious with coconut.
    Its made in India, kerala too.
    We call it vattyappam.

    Adding mashed plantain to this before steaming gives awesome aroma and taste. We call this as vivikaa (sweet idli!)

      Alternately you can even add pureed jackfruit pulp to it instead of banana... It's a favourite sweet in coastal South india...
