      The big issue you missed, and I was hoping you would know because I still don't get it. They sell 2 types of meters, one is cheep and one is hundreds. I think it's the ppfd is cheep and par is expensive, I can't remember. I got the cheep one and people said you can do a math conversion and there are calculators online. So I go online and the calculator needs info on the type of light yada yada and pretty much burnt my gord messing with all that. I was hoping you were going to dumb that down so I could understand. I'm a farmer not a scientist. Can you break down the calculations and maybe idea numbers for stages of development? I mean, I've put hours into trying to understand this and another video later I'm still at a loss. Anywho, merry Christmas!

      @@gaslampnation735 A PAR meter simply reads in PPFD. I use an app called Photone on my phone. It was free and I think $5 to unlock the meter for LED lights. For an LED, you cover the phone's camera with a diffuser, which can be just a piece of paper. It measures PPFD, and will convert that to DLI for you, based on the # of hours in your light cycle. I checked my readings against the ppfd specs from the mfg. of the lights and it seems to be pretty accurate. You can find charts with recommendations for DLI for different growth stages. And with the PAR meter, you can set your lights to get exactly the amount of light you want.

    My first grow lightning was two 2 single burple led light bulbs around 30w each without any instructions, which kinda worked for 2 plants as a beginner I was but obviously with poor results. Now I am using spiderfarmer Sf 1000(goes great) and I just got viparspectra p600 also close to 100w. My goal is around three plants, autos for now.Also biobizz soils,perlite and liquid bottle biobizz nutrients and I am very happy with that company.

      I agree. I too am doing this on the cheap. I started with a 4 tube T5 for seedlings and the Fecida was the first LED I bought. The young plants loved it.
      Then I took a chance on some no-brand 1000w LEDs (draw 130w from the house) that were super cheap at $45.
      I'm not even sure who made them. Basic, simple crap probably. Looks like they were shipped back from Kuwait or somewhere. I think the company was just trying to get rid of old inventory. I got two and so far so good. If they last this run I'd be happy.
      I have 9 plants close to flipping and they look fantastic. Spent $200 for lights with the T5s being $60 (I think I could have gotten by without). So pretty cheap.
      I might try the Fecida 1000w (130w draw) next time. About $60 on Amazon.

    As someone who is on the tail end of Gen-X at 43, your assessment is pretty close. I feel like Gen-Xer's know what the internet has done and understand the changes that it has made, as to where Millennials (most not all, maybe 60%) were raised on the internet, and it's their way of life as they know it. Newer generations . . . yeah, they would have a tough time without the internet as we are at the point where it's about 50%-60% of our lives today.
    To me the internet has been simultaneously the greatest and worst thing to ever happen to mankind, and we carry it around in our pockets every waking moment.
    But it's great having nearly all the information in the world at your fingertips, sure beats going to the library to figure something out for your self.

Although this light is awesome, I am having a problem with controlling it through my Ac infinity controler (controller69). For some reason when I select say 40% for power through my controller it will go to the 40% but it will fluctuate (dim & brighten back up) soon afterwards, slightly enough to actually see it. Although If I use the manual controller that came with my light it operates just fine? Other then this issue, it's an awesome light so far. This is my first grow with this particular light, but I believe it will do very well. So im curious if you have any ideas to why this issue may be happening? Good video. After comparing lights, wattages, spectrums, efficacy, etc., I don't think the newer 'white' led's actually perform any better. But they certainly allow you to see your plants better. Rather than upgrade all my lights, I'm going to increase the total watts by using a combination of newer blurple w/UV, and white led boards with IR. I can pull over 1000w from the wall with multiple lights, why would I need a new 'true' 500w or 1000w fixture? Do you guys agree with my logic??

    • @grantmcdougall7801
      @grantmcdougall7801 Год назад

      The white leds actually hit a more complete light spectrum than just red or blue. In fact infrared should only be about 15% (at the highest) of the total diode collection on your light. As infrared is basically just heat. Watch the migro guest spot on garden talk with mr. Grow it..... but he explains why infrared is almost useless.... better to go more red or far red with more white diodes, warm and cool both. Better to go with UV instead.
