I watched every second of that finals and iguodala held lebron to like 27% beyond 5 feet and 39% overall. it was insane. lebron never shot as many long contested 2s in his career as he did during that series. iggy put the clamps on lebron. he got some nice totals from stat padding. but Andre iguodala was the difference maker that series. it was actually more impressive than kawhis defense on lebron the year prior. iguodala started that series as a 6th man and finished the last 3 games starting because he played out of his mind while curry was underperforming. a lot of people say Rodman was the real 1996 finals mvp and all he did was rebound and play defense. he didn't have huge threes and big games offensively like iggy did at the same time while turning lebron into a brick machine. the cavs actually went up 2 wins to 1 for golden state before inserting iguodala in the starting lineup to defend lebron every single possession. had that not happened i truly believe lebron wins 2 more games and the title. over the last 3 wins iguodala averaged almost 20ppg on 48% fgs and 37% threes with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. those numbers plus forcing lebron into bad long 2s every other time up the floor is more valuable than 6 more points and 2 more assists. sorry. iggy hit some HUGE clutch threes that series too. he was waaaaaaaay more important in that specific matchup. hence the mvp trophy being awarded to him... dont just look at the overall series averages with 2 losses from iggy being benched most of the game that ruined his numbers. you obviously didn't watch this finals.... sorry dude. youre wrong on this one

As someone who watched this series I will say that Igoudala only won FMVP because of the narrative, the Cavs lost Irving in game 1 after having already lost Kevin Love in the Boston series, the warriors won game 1 and the expectation was for the Warriors to sweep the Cavs and anything else was a disappointment, they’re offense was leagues above the Cavs so the warriors defense would dictate the series, then the Cavs bounced back and won the next 2 and got a 2-1 lead couple that with Curry’s bad game 2 and it wasn’t looking good, another forgotten fact is that Igoudala didn’t start until game 4 and before that LeBron was putting up an average of 41 points on 40% shooting but as soon as Igoudala started the series turned around and the cavs didn’t get close to winning another game besides game 6 which was a 8 point spread and Lebron averaged 31 points on 38% shooting so his averages very clearly dropped after game 3 and he also shot 33% while Igoudala was his main defender, a significant drop off, like I said I believe Curry deserved it but a lot of the NBA awards are driven by narrative and that’s why Igoudala won it he had a good case whether anyone wants to admit it or not 🤷‍♂️

Curry Changed the Game of Basketball, is the undisputed G.O.A.T Shooter, 2x MVP (the only with a unanimous MVP), leader of G.O.A.T Regular season team (73-9), and a 3x champion. Those solidify his legacy as one of the top 15 players of all time. The lack of FMVP does hurt him a little bit but the aforementioned accomplishments more than makeup for that. If he wins another chip with a FMVP, now we are talking maybe cracking the top 10 players of all time.

I watched every second of that finals and iguodala held lebron to like 27% beyond 5 feet and 39% overall. it was insane. lebron never shot as many long contested 2s in his career as he did during that series. iggy put the clamps on lebron. he got some nice totals from stat padding. but Andre iguodala was the difference maker that series. it was actually more impressive than kawhis defense on lebron the year prior. iguodala started that series as a 6th man and finished the last 3 games starting because he played out of his mind while curry was underperforming. a lot of people say Rodman was the real 1996 finals mvp and all he did was rebound and play defense. he didn't have huge threes and big games offensively like iggy did at the same time while turning lebron into a brick machine. the cavs actually went up 2 wins to 1 for golden state before inserting iguodala in the starting lineup to defend lebron every single possession. had that not happened i truly believe lebron wins 2 more games and the title. over the last 3 wins iguodala averaged almost 20ppg on 48% fgs and 37% threes with 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. those numbers plus forcing lebron into bad long 2s every other time up the floor is more valuable than 6 more points and 2 more assists. sorry. iggy hit some HUGE clutch threes that series too. he was waaaaaaaay more important in that specific matchup. hence the mvp trophy being awarded to him... dont just look at the overall series averages with 2 losses from iggy being benched most of the game that ruined his numbers. you obviously didn't watch this finals

    1. they opened their cap space
    2. they used it to host 3 starting players with career averages over 19 points in Klay, Curry and Wiggins
    3. they gave their rookies and bench players a near season of being starter experience
    4. they got a good draft pick they will trade down and get the player positions they need for cheap or draft high to get a future top player who still make a big enough impact on the court
    5. they have seen what they need to fix.
    6. they know how beat the whole West with only Lakers maybe having a good enough team challenge them... people talk size but when has that ever stopped the Warriors with Steph from beating those teams?
i can say with complete assurance that the Warriors will be the 2021 NBA final winner barring injuries from their starters...
don't forget the injuried Heats took the Lakers to 6 games and one those they didnt have 2 of their starters..

Kawhi's FMVP last year was nearly the same, except Toronto had a revolving doors of guys being the player of the game every game, while Kawhi was the one steady one...so he got it by default.

    (Like both curry and iggy)
I remember when Iggy got that mvp, and i was a little bit surprised. But if you look backwards from game one of the series he was the most consistent member of the team both in the defensive and offensive side. He's was not the best or the greatest, but he was the veteran of that team, left after a All star nine years at the 76ers for Denver. And then for Golden State, he EARNED his place for Kerr at that playoff series.
But looking at the stats, it looks you played against Curry! So i went to basketball-reference. Iggy beats Curry, in that series in: True Shooting, Efficiency, Def. Reb.%, turnovers%(that was obvious), Off. Rating and Def. Rating, Field goal% and 3P%.
He also was the second or third best in (If curry's not the first it will be noted): points (2nd), minutes (3rd), total rebounds (tied 2nd with Barnes, Behind Green), asts (3rd) and Field Goals (2nd).
He was also guarding Lebron James! Having a better Def. Rating than Curry. Lebron off% were: 39%FG(43% v. Hawks), 30%3pt(23% v. Hawks). 21 turnovers (15 v. Hawks).
He shot +50% for the Series, being the 2nd highest scorer on the team, also being the third in assists, 3rd best from the starting line in defensive rating and in rebounds. He was all-around.
But, it amazes me how people under value Curry too. How does that man doesnt have a single finals mvp

@@MikeTheNBAGuy yeah but when you play better than somebody in 3 games and play worse somebody in 1 GAME it doesn’t matter you still played the better overall series I don’t want to hear it

Hot take: if Love and Irving was healthy then cavs win. Cavs would win back to bakr then durant would still go to gsw. Then would win back to back, then durant would be seen as the hero not a snake.

Durants 2 rings would mean more and durant wohld replace bron as the best player (for the 2 years).
I am a bron fan by the way and i believe that bron would be second best by carrying a 15 win team cavs ( if he wasnt there ).

Umm... if we're playing on hypotheticals then steph should be healthy in 2016 and win the finals, go on to become more dominant cuz he wasnt really in his prime yet.
2015 was arguable the win for cavs, and 2016 was a def win for gsw if curry wasnt injured.
